Chapter 105: !

Corpse Possession.

It referred to a disease in which a person suddenly fainted and could not recognize others, appearing as though they were dead.

The reason the word ‘Rebellion’ beca attached to it was because every single one who displayed these symptoms turned into a Corpse Demon.

The damage had been so great that it was difficult even to put into words.

Its rate of spread had been as fast as the blowing of the wind.

By the ti the Maekbaek Alliance had been ford and martial artists gathered, already half of the martial sects of the Martial World had been swept away.

The fighting had been desperate.

So much so that nine out of ten martial artists who participated in the Maekbaek Alliance had died.

Amidst it all, the number of commoners who had been caught up and slaughtered had been too horrifying to speak of.

How else could a nation have fallen?

Given their proximity to the people, the Governnt Troops had been the first to respond, and their losses had been enormous.

Because of that, facing Corpse Demons ard with spears, blades, and armor had only increased the casualties of the Maekbaek Alliance’s martial artists.

In any case, after suffering such massive losses, the Corpse Possession Rebellion had finally been suppressed with great difficulty.

And seven hundred years later.

After leaping across that long stretch of ti, Corpse Demons had appeared once more before Yul Han and his group.

Before they could do anything, the horde of Corpse Demons had rushed the stunned Yul Han and his companions.

A battle so cruel and grueso as to be unimaginable had beco unavoidable.

Just as in the fight against the Living Zombies, in such an environnt the Ghost Demon’s performance had stood out the most.

Because within the Black Cloud Phantasm infused with the ice energy of the Thousand-Year Ice Essence, he could freeze the Corpse Demons solid.

Moreover, this was the frigid Northern Sea.

It was as though the ice energy had gained strength; it grew even colder. rely touching the Black Cloud Phantasm caused one to freeze.

The problem was the range of the Black Cloud Phantasm containing the ice energy of the Thousand-Year Ice Essence.

At its maximum, it extended only one jang (3 ters). Originally, the Black Cloud Phantasm had filled dozens of jang with darkness, but its range had shrunk because of the ice energy.

The ice energy of the Thousand-Year Ice Essence, which froze even the air itself, froze the energy of the Black Cloud Phantasm as well.

Frozen in that way, the Black Cloud Phantasm could no longer spread.

Because of that, the area in which the Ghost Demon could operate had beco limited.

Another issue—when fighting the Living Zombies, Yul Han and the Ghost Demon had been the attackers.

There had been space to move about, and through that space they had been able to move swiftly and slaughter the Living Zombies.

But this ti, the attackers were the Corpse Demons.

There was no room to maneuver. The Grand Hall was packed full of Corpse Demons.

So of the Corpse Demons, frozen solid, even hindered the Ghost Demon’s movents.

That had drastically suppressed his effectiveness.

As a result, Yul Han and his group had no choice but to swing their swords wildly in every direction just to survive.

At first, they had been flustered. After that, the Corpse Demons had surged in so relentlessly that there had been no ti to catch their breath.

But when such a state continued, one grew accustod to it.

That was what had happened to Yul Han.

After cutting with the Asura Sword Form and smashing with the Heavenly River Hand for no short while, he had regained his composure.

Only once he had stabilized himself did the surrounding scene finally co into view.

The Cult Leader had been coping just as well as he was. The Slaughtering Demon Art, founded upon the Heaven-and-Earth Great Shift Divine Art, ensured that nothing could approach within one jang of him.

The Ghost Demon had not been doing badly either.

Nothing could enter the Black Cloud Phantasm steeped in ice energy.

However, the conditions of the Iron Demon and the Profound Demon, who had been fighting near the Ghost Demon, had not been good.

Although the power of the Transformation Realm had been erupting from them without restraint, the number of Corpse Demons had simply been too great.

Moreover, losing one or two limbs did nothing to the Corpse Demons.

Their speed had been another problem.

They surged forward so relentlessly that one could scarcely gather one’s senses.

Perhaps because of that, the Ice Heaven Blade King, who had been isolated at a distance and struggling alone, had seed to be in the greatest danger.

He was already drenched in blood.

At least it had not been blood flowing from old wounds reopening.

If left like that much longer, the Ice Heaven Blade King would not survive. And that would create an even bigger problem.

A Corpse Demon in the ranks possessing the power of the Transformation Realm would join them.

Even now, Corpse Demons occasionally displaying abilities of the Super-Peak Realm had been popping up and startling everyone.

In such a situation, if the Ice Heaven Blade King were to beco a Corpse Demon and, wielding the power of the Transformation Realm, charge at the Iron Demon or the Profound Demon?

Before that could happen, Yul Han judged that the Corpse Demons needed to be cleared out quickly and began searching for a clever solution.

For himself or the Cult Leader, handling them was not difficult. It was rely a matter of speed.

Speed?

In that instant, sothing flashed through Yul Han’s mind.

The Demon Wall Five Absolutes.

Though it had not yet adhered perfectly to his body like the Four Sacred Arts of the Heavenly Demon, nor had it been fully perfected, against Corpse Demons there seed to be no reason he could not use it.

Imdiately, the internal energy circulating throughout Yul Han’s body shifted from the Asura Heart thod, which accompanied the Asura Sword Form, into the Half-Demon Heart Art.

And the Lightning Cloud Blade that he had been carrying on his back ca into his left hand.

Jjwaaa-zzazzak.

The mont internal energy surged into it, lightning energy burst forth along the Lightning Cloud Blade.

With a sword blazing in vivid red Sword Energy in his right hand and the Lightning Cloud Blade crackling with lightning in his left, Yul Han’s figure began to unfold the Sun-Moon Sword.

The twin-sword art of the Sun-Moon Sword began to be executed with a sword and a blade.

Its sharpness rivaled the Asura Sword Form, and its destructive power did not fall behind the Half-Moon Asura Slash.

Moreover, the number of weapons being swung had doubled.

The spread of devastation expanded at a speed that even Yul Han, the caster himself, found terrifying.

After all, it was as though he were unleashing the Asura Sword Form and the Half-Moon Asura Slash simultaneously. Naturally, an imnse amount of internal energy was drained.

Yul Han’s trendous internal energy, equivalent to fifteen gapja, diminished so drastically that it could be clearly felt.

Though the Half-Demon Heart Art replenished his internal energy like mad, it had not yet reached perfection, and thus could not keep up with the attainnt of the Sun-Moon Sword, which had already been perfected even before he visited the Demon Wall.

Naturally, the amount of internal energy being replenished could not match the amount being consud.

The difference had been so vast that Yul Han had no choice but to reduce the power of the Sun-Moon Sword as a desperate asure.

Even so, the Corpse Demons were being cut down at a speed incomparable to before.

Perhaps stimulated by Yul Han’s display, the Cult Leader also began unleashing the Demon Wall Five Absolutes.

Snatching a sword from one of the Corpse Demons and combining it with his own, the Cult Leader now wielded two swords, and from his entire body the Sun-Moon Sword burst forth.

The assault of the two n was ferocious beyond asure.

The Cult Leader carved a straight path forward toward the Ice Heaven Blade King, while Yul Han moved toward the struggling Iron Demon and Profound Demon.

The battle continued until the sun set and the moon rose high into the sky.

After cutting, cutting again, and cutting yet further before the Corpse Demons finally ceased moving, their number had reached the tens of thousands.

The several hundred corpses that had been inside the Ice Palace turning into zombies and charging had ultimately been nothing more than a smokescreen.

Before they moved, one could not distinguish whether they were corpses or zombies.

But Corpse Demons were different. Even the slightest stimulation caused them to move like mad.

Thus, the Corpse Demons had been spread widely to ensure it took ti for them to converge upon the Ice Palace.

It had been a kind of trap.

“Bastards who deserve to be chewed to pieces!”

It was hardly unreasonable that curses burst from the Cult Leader’s mouth as he raged at having fallen into a trap.

They had not even known it, yet they had walked into a deadly trap of their own accord.

In truth, without the Demon Wall Five Absolutes, it would have been impossible to exterminate the Corpse Demons without such sacrifices.

A battle lasting eight shijin (16 hours) was sothing close to impossible, no matter if it was Yul Han or the Cult Leader.

In fact, once four shijin had passed, the Profound Demon and the Ice Heaven Blade King had exhausted their internal energy and endured purely on grit and physical strength.

Had Yul Han or the Cult Leader not aided them from the side, they would never have survived.

Even so, the Iron Demon—whose internal energy had already reached the Manifestation Realm—and the Ghost Demon, who had attained the sa realm after obtaining the Thousand-Year Ice Essence, had lasted sowhat longer, but even for them six shijin had been the limit.

In terms of internal energy alone, the Cult Leader possessed twelve gapja. Though he surpassed the Iron Demon and the Ghost Demon, who each held ten gapja, it would have been impossible for him to fight two additional shijin alone.

And yet, they had endured. In the end, it had been thanks to the Half-Demon Heart Art.

Though it did not replenish as much as was consud, it continuously circulated and restored internal energy as they fought.

Through such desperate efforts layered upon one another, fortunately no one had lost their life.

If even one had died to the Corpse Demons…

Yul Han felt relieved that he did not have to cut down a comrade who had turned into a Corpse Demon by his own hand.

To him, the Cult Leader spoke.

“If it hadn’t been for the Demon Wall Five Absolutes, we might have ended up buried here.”

Having experienced it himself, Yul Han knew the Cult Leader’s words were no exaggeration and nodded.

“Yes. It was fortunate.”

“Fortunate? The aura of the Founding Ancestors has reached you. It was inevitable.”

“The aura of the Founding Ancestors?”

At Yul Han’s puzzled question, the Cult Leader gestured toward the Lightning Cloud Blade strapped to his back.

“That blade.”

“The Lightning Cloud Blade?”

A smile ford at the corners of the Cult Leader’s lips as he watched Yul Han’s startled expression.

“After seeing you today, I am certain. You are undoubtedly the arrangent spoken of by the Blood Demon Ancestor.”

“The Blood Demon Ancestor’s arrangent?”

In response to Yul Han’s question, the Cult Leader recounted what he had read in the archive containing the journals of successive Cult Leaders.

Of course, he interpreted the part about ‘crossing death and returning from the past’ in a way that suited himself.

“The loss of consciousness you experienced in the process of obtaining the Lightning Cloud Blade—that must have been that very process.”

The Cult Leader’s words did not enter Yul Han’s ears.

He had already realized precisely what ‘crossing death and returning from the past’ ant.

‘Then am I truly the arrangent of both the Heavenly Demon and the Blood Demon, the two Founding Ancestors!’

Unaware of Yul Han’s shock, or perhaps aware of it, the Cult Leader burst into hearty laughter, declaring that at last they had found a solution.

There was no longer anything to fear from Blood Corpses, he said.

The Iron Demon and the others, including those who did not know the circumstances, looked at the suddenly laughing and shouting Cult Leader with puzzled expressions.

The Man-Sa Calamity Emperor could clearly sense it. The two grand arts he had laid within the Ice Palace had been shattered.

The problem was the thod.

“Lightning Energy. Could it be—!”

There were not a few martial arts in the Central Plains that utilized Lightning Energy.

The most representative was Mount Hua’s Violet Mist Divine Art.

Rumor had it that, during its training process, one had to be struck by lightning in order to obtain its power.

Because of that, it was said that the success and survival rate of those cultivating the Violet Mist Divine Art was no more than thirty percent.

Dangerous though it was, once successful it was virtually invincible.

The Lightning Sword, Mount Hua’s supre art unleashed upon the foundation of the Violet Mist Divine Art, was said to have almost no equal.

After all, the effect Lightning Energy had upon tal was obvious.

Thus, it was established doctrine that a master of Mount Hua who cultivated the Violet Mist Divine Art and wielded the Lightning Sword could only be countered by experts in palm or fist techniques.

As already stated, martial artists who used weapons made of tal were no match.

Next was the Purple Lightning Demon Art.

Frankly, the Purple Lightning Demon Art was also a derivative of the Violet Mist Divine Art.

It had been created when a master of Mount Hua who had cultivated the Violet Mist Divine Art changed his heart and turned to the Demonic Path, naming his martial art the Purple Lightning Demon Art.

It had beco sowhat more vicious and more practical for real combat, but it could not deny its roots in the Violet Mist Divine Art.

The problem was that the Violet Mist Divine Art had vanished from Mount Hua three hundred years ago, and the Purple Lightning Demon Art had been extinct in the Demonic Path for over five hundred years.

If it was neither of those…

“The Lightning Cloud Blade!”

To the knowledge of the Man-Sa Calamity Emperor, unless a Blood Corpse was completed and, based upon that Blood Corpse, That One was summoned forth, the Lightning Cloud Blade could not appear in the world.

Therefore—

Shaking his head, the Man-Sa Calamity Emperor muttered through clenched teeth.

“As expected, it must be the Purple Lightning Demon Art. That bastard had even mastered that!”

Recalling the figure of Emperor Salyejin that he had seen through the eyes of the crow connected to him by Spiritual Awareness, the Man-Sa Calamity Emperor’s gaze grew cold.

Rembering those words, the Man-Sa Calamity Emperor spat fiercely.

“Insolent wretch! I will tear you to pieces!”

Where his grinding gaze turned, a sight too grueso to behold lay spread out.

Amid corpses strewn carelessly across the ground, a Blood Corpse greedily sucked blood.

“Heh heh heh. Just a little more. Just a little.”

The chilling laughter of the Man-Sa Calamity Emperor echoed across a Jurchen tribe’s settlent upon the vast plains of Manchuria.
