Now reading: Chapter 132: The Aftermath/Foreshadowing from How to Bring Common Sense to Xianxia World, a Eastern novel by RavenClaw471.

Returning to a few hours earlier, Wei Chen had a conversation with his boss, the Lord of Death, through the connection of a broadcasting orb.

After a few seconds of waiting for the connection, it finally linked. The bony face, a pure skeleton of the Lord of Death, appeared before Wei Chen’s eyes through the screen.

On the screen, Wei Chen noticed that his boss was sitting on a familiar chair like object. In the background, he noticed a luxurious flush tank made from obsidian and gold above his boss’s head. The wall behind him was made of pristine white marble, seemingly clean, as if it had just been renovated.

Isn’t this... isn’t this a toilet? Is he sitting on a flush toilet?

Seeing Wei Chen stunned into silence, the Lord of Death spoke first. "As you can see, I am a bit busy here. If you have sothing urgent, speak. If not, you can contact again twenty minutes after this."

Wei Chen was startled. "No! No! Please wait, I have sothing urgent to ask!" Afraid that his boss would end the call imdiately, he quickly pulled himself together and spoke. There was no ti to wait anymore. He needed an answer now.

"Your Honor, I was facing soone from the upper realm. They used their descendant’s body as a dium and manifested their power through that descendant. How can I cut the connection? Or better yet, how can I permanently stop them?" Wei Chen asked.

"Let ask you this. Was the body of the descendant a man or a woman?" the Lord of Death asked.

"It’s a man, Your Honor."

"Then that’s easy. You just make them feel pain to the point where they think they would be better off dead," the Lord of Death replied casually.

"But how? Do I need to torture him?" Wei Chen asked.

"Since he’s a man, isn’t there one easy thod to make it painful enough for him to wish he were dead?" the Lord of Death said. He then gestured with his hand, closing his fist and making it burst open, accompanied by a "crunch" sound effect from his bony mouth.

"I see. So, Your Honor, do you know any secret thods for , like burning my life force to increase my cultivation or..." Before Wei Chen could finish, the Lord of Death tilted his head and asked,

"Why would you need that? You are at half step Soul Formation, and with your cultivation thod combined with your black hole core, I think it would be easy for you to castrate him," the Lord of Death said.

Wei Chen was stunned, but he still looked confused.

"Listen. Manifesting power from the upper realm into the body of a descendant is not that impressive. It sounds fancy, but it is just a half baked thod used by cowards in the upper realm who only wish to dominate the lower realm because they think being a dog’s head is better than being a dragon’s tail," he continued.

"They think it is easier to gather resources in the lower realm. Even though cultivation resources in the lower realm are harder to find than in the upper realm, many high grade resources in the upper realm are even rarer to find in the lower realm. Still, monopolizing or ruling the lower realm can bring them decent benefits."

"These kinds of people are all cowards. They think they are smart, but their mindset limits their Dao. They will never reach the apex," the Lord of Death said with disdain.

"Oh, sorry. I complained to you again. Listen carefully. The body of their descendant is still a body of a lower realm cultivator with lower cultivation. The upper realm bastard cannot use too much power, or they will incur the wrath of the laws of heaven and earth."

"This also includes using their power to resist physical trauma. If you launch a sneak attack and choose a good opportunity to land a strike, the bastard in the upper realm cannot use their power to resist the trauma."

"You only need to know this. In order to effectively control their descendant’s body, the upper realm denizen needs to share the pain of the host body. At least twenty five percent of the pain will feed back to the controller in the upper realm. The more power they use, the more pain they will share. That is why you need to make it painful enough that they wish they were dead."

Listening to the Lord of Death, Wei Chen began to think.

"To put it in more casual terms, the puppeteer in the upper realm cannot use too much power, and the defense paraters of the host body are still those of the lower realm. Even if they can use fancy techniques and powerful attacks, the body itself remains limited."

"If I can land a critical attack on the host body, the puppeteer in the upper realm will also feel the pain and will imdiately abandon the host body. Am I understanding this correctly, Your Honor?" Wei Chen asked, using the terms he understood best.

"In a manner of speaking, yes," the Lord of Death nodded.

....

Rembering the conversation between himself and the Lord of Death, Wei Chen then explained it to Mo Jue in simpler terms, without revealing any information about the Lord of Death.

He only said that he learned this information from so random ruin that he could not rember clearly, back when he was still adventuring.

Since this world was in the Age of Restoration, aning the era after the great war that followed the Golden Age, it also ant that a vast amount of technology and knowledge had been lost.

Because of this, Mo Jue, Jian Heng, and Hua Zuixian believed what Wei Chen said. In the lower realm, secret realms were everywhere. The number of secret realms was so prevalent that if soone was unlucky enough to step out to relieve themselves in the forest, they might stumble upon one.

Even so, eighty percent of them were scam realms, designed to dupe cultivators to steal their bodies, and suck out their souls.

After explaining everything, the three began discussing their future goals. Since the Primordial Ruin Desolate Secret Realm had been secured and the decryption of its information was still ongoing, there was no imdiate urgency.

They had already discussed how to handle the matter, so from what Wei Chen heard, Mo Jue promised to share any future discoveries with the Heavenly Sword Sect, since Jian Heng had co to help them withstand this crisis.

However, because the Sky Severing Demon Valley was a sect of the demonic path while the Heavenly Sword Sect belonged to the righteous path, this alliance would remain secret. This ti, the Heavenly Sword Sect had co to assist only to resist the outsider, the Murong Clan.

"By the way..." Mo Jue spoke after reaching an agreent with Jian Heng. He then looked at Wei Chen with a smile.

"When will you marry my little Yaoyao?"

The sudden question nearly made Wei Chen spit out his tea.

"Err... sir... I think it’s too early..." Wei Chen tried to explain, but Mo Jue’s eyes suddenly sharpened.

"What did I tell you to call , boy?"

Wei Chen massaged his forehead with a bitter smile before answering.

"Err... father in law..."

"Hahahahaha! That’s right, father in law! So when will it be?" Mo Jue urged.

"I think it’s still too early, father in law," Wei Chen tried to reason. He did not know how Mo Xingyao felt, but he was definitely not ready for that.

"Nonsense! My little Yaoyao is already at the age where she can marry! Anyone at the Soul Transformation Realm with backbone would have already created their own family! Why wouldn’t you? Or do you think my Yaoyao is not good enough for you?" Mo Jue asked in a threatening tone.

"Sir... er... father in law. I never thought of Yaoyao like that. She’s a good woman, but I still think..." Wei Chen was about to continue explaining when Mo Jue cut him off.

"Then how about an engagent first? You’re not going to say it’s too early, right?"

He smiled. This had been Mo Jue’s plan all along. He also thought it was too early for marriage, but since this young man was already at the Soul Transformation Realm, or maybe even higher, he needed to seize this chance and mark him first. He wanted to let others know that this man belonged to him, to Mo Jue’s people, so others would give up on trying to recruit him.

— anwhile - ??? —

In a secret tower built deep within an illusion array, a dark silhouette that resembled black fog stood before the tablets belonging to the mbers of his organization.

The Dragon tablet had been broken.

The man looked at the tablet and let out a sigh. "So the Dragon has already died, huh? Speaking of an ambitious man, dying before he could even pursue his ambition and leaving without making a single wave. How ironic for soone who wore the Dragon mask."

The owner of the silhouette spoke. He was none other than Mr. Zodiac, the founder of the Profound Zodiac Alliance.

Mr. Zodiac looked at another tablet marked with the Monkey zodiac and nodded.

"Monkey has already infiltrated the ruin. That’s good. Maybe soon, we will get our hands on the technique from the Primordial Era. Unfortunately..."

Mr. Zodiac spoke in a pitying tone, then looked at the Tiger tablet. "We have lost contact with the Tiger. How disappointing."

Mr. Zodiac fell silent for a mont. "That’s fine. We have plenty of ti. We can afford to wait. Heh heh heh."

With a mysterious laugh, Mr. Zodiac prepared his next move.
