Now reading: Chapter 143: Landing on the Island from Hunter of Mysterious Creature, a Sci-fi novel by Dark dust spreading.

To beco a Mysterious Creature Hunter, you need to have so near-death experiences, but soone as fierce as the Fisherman is a rare exception even among hunters.

"To be honest, that creature’s at was damn disgusting. It was bitter and fishy, with a stench like a rotting fish that’s been dead for over ten days. After taking a bite, I felt like I’d never want to eat fish again in my life," Fisherman continued, "But weirdly enough, during the struggle, my consciousness started to blur, feeling like I was about to die. Yet, after eating its at, it was like a miraculous recovery; I suddenly had strength again. Even the wounds on my body bitten by the creature healed quickly... On the contrary, the creature’s movents beca increasingly sluggish, and its attacking force weakened."

"Buddy, are you the human embodint of Taotie?" Sun Hang couldn’t help but ntally retort after hearing Fisherman’s description.

"So according to you... you ate that creature?" the young Hunter exclaid in shock.

"I guess... you could say that." Fisherman chuckled, "Anyway, after I swam ashore, the Investigation Bureau took away. After being detained for several days, they told I was infected by the creature. But luckily, the infection stabilized at a safe threshold, and they asked if I wanted to beco a Mysterious Creature Hunter. You can guess the rest afterward."

"You’re not just bragging, right?" The female Hunter looked at Fisherman skeptically, "Are there really ordinary people who can kill a creature with their teeth?"

"Well, that’s how it went down. Believe it or not, you can choose. Haha, it’s not bad as a story to listen to, right?" Fisherman laughed.

The story was over, and the landing craft finally reached the coast of the Naless Island. Propelled by inertia, the boat rushed onto the shore, leaving a trench more than ten ters long on the beach.

Sun Hang looked into the distance, seeing the end of the beach rising sharply. The exposed gray-white bedrock, polished by sand and sea waves, appeared exceptionally smooth. Further back was a sparse forest—in the information provided by Dubhe Tower, this forest was artificially planted after the research institute was built, featuring salt-tolerant varieties that could stabilize sand and retain water.

"This forest seems much sparser than back then," comnted a Hunter, glancing at the photo in his hand and then looking at the distant forest.

These photos were taken by the fourth batch of Hunters landing on the island after the accident. The forest in those photos was quite dense, almost rivaling the tropical rainforest of the Yundian Region.

"Sparsity is good," Fisherman said, "Wasn’t one of the missing hunters last seen in the forest?"

"True, that makes sense." The Hunter holding the photo nodded.

"No reaction to creature s detected on the beach," reported a Hunter wielding a monitoring device, "This indicates the creature-infested area hasn’t spread here yet."

"No reaction around the forest fringes either!" ca a voice from afar—from the few Hunters who arrived first.

"So, how should we proceed: split into groups advancing from different directions, or follow a conservative formation, moving cautiously?" asked an older-looking Hunter.

The closed research facility is located at the center of the Naless Island, while their landing spot is the island’s west coast, with a straight-line distance of roughly eight kiloters between the two points.

"I don’t think we need to rush," suggested the Hunter with the monitoring device, "Considering the beach here is safe, I propose setting up camp here first and then begin exploring slowly towards the center. What do you guys think?"

"I have no objections... huh?" Halfway through his sentence, Fisherman suddenly stopped and looked towards the east side of the forest.

The others followed his gaze, seeing the group of Angsa Hunters and Indian Hunters who, after landing on the beach, imdiately proceeded into the forest without stopping. They moved quickly, as if afraid soone else might beat them to it.

"These Angsas, their bravery is off the charts, huh?" comnted the Hunter who took out the photo earlier, feeling speechless, "Are they in a rush to reincarnate?"

"Probably afraid of losing the first rit," Fisherman waved his hand, "Forget them, I don’t like moving with them anyway."

The second stage of the trial has no elimination set up—as long as you leave the Naless Island alive, you’ve completed the trial; however, Dubhe Tower will score each Hunter based on their gains on the island, which heavily influences the final assessnt of Hunter ranks.

However, Sun Hang felt like there could be a more brutal way to phrase it: the elimination thod of the second stage is death.

Though more than half of the Hunters agreed on a steady and cautious strategy, dissenting voices still erged—a Hunter clad in armor said, "Those Angsas might have exclusive intelligence, right? Otherwise, why would those Indians be willing to follow them?"

"Exactly, in my impression, those Indians are both arrogant and cowardly. Unless those Angsas have given them so convincing ’goods’ to offer, they surely wouldn’t risk it."

"You think they might have a conspiracy?"

"Should we follow them and take a look? No matter if they have exclusive intelligence or are up to sothing, we just follow them to find out?"

"I agree!"

"I agree too."

"Wait for , I’m coming too!"

In a mont, another group of Hunters started tracing the Angsa and Indian Hunters’ footsteps, climbing over the pale bedrock and entering the forest.

The remaining Hunters on the beach were now less than fifty in number.

"Good advice is hard to impart to those who are ant to... well, you know," the Hunter with the monitoring device cursed while moving materials from the landing craft for camping, "I want to see how many of them will make it back to this beach."

Fisherman sighed, crossed the beach, found a firm spot, and firmly planted the steel rod he was holding.

A few tents were quickly set up, and by then, a green flare rose from the other side of the forest.

"Huh, seems like they’re lucky," whispered a Hunter.

The green flare signified "Everything is safe, no abnormalities found," judging from where the flares were launched, the Hunters seed to have traversed through the forest.

"What, do you regret it?" Fisherman looked at him and asked.

"What’s there to regret about? Only the stupidest birds fly first," the Hunter replied, overly confident, "In the end, whoever scores higher is still undetermined."
