At Yang Qi's request, Sun Hang followed the standard procedure for disinfection three tis before changing into sterile surgical attire and was then allowed to enter the operating room.
A group of researchers were already in place, with Song Yarong, her silver-gray high ponytail twisted into a bun, sitting in front of the computer, rapidly typing on the keyboard—while her prosthetic eye was embedded in a recess of the shadowless lamp directly above the operating table, intently watching the "patient" on the table.
Lying on the operating table surrounded by nurous devices was a woman, emaciated and skeletal. "The patient has already undergone general anesthesia," said a man in a white coat whom Sun Hang did not know, turning around to speak to Yang Qi, his gaze lingering on Sun Hang for a mont before continuing, "If this were at the hospital where I work, I would never have administered such anesthesia... the patient's physical condition is too poor. "I've never experienced rejection," Song Yarong imdiately chid in with personal testimony, "though I wonder if I'm an exception."
"Enough chatting, let's get on with it." The lead surgeon switched to another blade, taking a deep breath, "Whether or not rejection occurs is a postoperative issue; just make sure you're prepared for it, and it'll be fine."
