"Everyone retreat two hundred ters—no! Three hundred ters!" Wang Xiyi shouted from the sky.
Except for Ye Jiu and Candle Dragon, everyone returned to their vehicles, threw the gear into reverse, and stomped on the gas. The four vehicles rapidly pulled back.
"You two, leave now!" Wang Xiyi glanced down at Ye Jiu and Candle Dragon who were still in place and yelled angrily.
In her palms, the ghostly blue dragon flas rose no less than ten ters high. From a distance, they looked like two Flaming Long Spears clutched in her hands.
"Are you sure you don’t need assistance?" Ye Jiu shouted, "This big guy seems a tough opponent!"
"Getting out of my attack range is the best assistance you can give ! Quick! You have three more seconds!"
But unfortunately, real life is neither ani nor movie; there’s no ti-stopping buff when protagonists speak. The tal giant snake, disturbed by Ye Jiu, had no intention of going offline voluntarily and imdiately lunged towards the two when Wang Xiyi told them to retreat!
The mouth of the tal giant snake expanded again, its diater quickly breaking through thirty ters. From afar, it resembled a gigantic tal funnel, looming over Ye Jiu and Candle Dragon!
"Oh shit!" Ye Jiu’s face changed imdiately. This ti, without needing Wang Xiyi’s reminder, he pushed the powers of "Slaughter" to the extre, retreating frantically with his body.
As for Candle Dragon, he turned into a stream of cold, dark water, flowing closely along the ground. In an instant, he reford into his human shape outside the attack range of the tal giant snake once again.
"Boom!!!"
The front of the tal giant snake slamd heavily into the ground. The tal pieces making up the snake’s body flew apart in all directions. A sharp iron plate shattered the windshield of the leading car, slicing the head of the externals agent replacing Wang Xiyi as the driver in two, spraying crimson blood and gray-white brain matter onto the faces of Ling Xiao and Jiang Yu in the back seat.
Fortunately, this was a military armored off-road vehicle, with the strength of its A-pillars much higher than civilian vehicles. That’s the only reason it managed to withstand the impact and slicing of that massive iron plate. Otherwise, the two in the back seat might have been decapitated as well,
The tip of the iron plate was less than ten centiters from Jiang Yu. It bore scratches of blood, flesh, and glass shards, with a blood-soaked eyeball rolling on it, staring at Jiang Yu with its enlarged pupils.
Until the strong sense of suffocation gripped her throat, Jiang Yu realized she’d forgotten to breathe entirely, and coughed violently—yet with the opening and closing of her lips, those bits of flesh slling strongly of blood fell into her mouth.
"Cough, cough... Cough, cough, cough..."
Sitting next to her, Ling Xiao remained unfazed, wiping his face with his hand, reaching for a bottle of water and a pack of wet wipes from the storage compartnt under the seat and handing them over.
"This is Car One." Ling Xiao picked up the intercom hanging on the door, "The driver has been attacked, confird dead, no resuscitation possible. Repeating, Car One driver dead."
"...Sss... Sss... Two injured in Car Two, engine severely damaged... Sss..."
"This is... Car Three... Sss... We tried to dodge... fell into the roadside ditch... in the ditch... vehicle overturned, sss... my leg is trapped... requesting support... soone co and help us!"
The conditions of the other vehicles were far from optimistic. Though the tal giant snake hadn’t directly attacked the convoy, just the splintering "aftershocks" caused severe losses to the convoy. Only the multi-functional engineering vehicle located at the back of the convoy and with the thickest armor barely survived the assault.
"Car Four, go assist Car Three, help hoist them out of the ditch! Ling Xiao! Jiang Yu! Get out imdiately, grab a dical kit, go help Car Two! Don’t rush to handle the wounded, first move everyone to a safe location!" Ye Jiu sprinted to Car One, opened the door, and dragged the corpse from the driver’s seat.
"Understood!" Ling Xiao nodded, grabbed the supplies, and dashed out, leaving Jiang Yu sitting dazed in place.
"What are you waiting for?" Ye Jiu glared at Jiang Yu, snapping.
"I... I..." Before Jiang Yu could speak, a strong urge to vomit surged forth. She quickly pushed open the car door, bent over, and retched.
"What’s the panic?! It’s just soone dead, isn’t it?" Ye Jiu couldn’t help but curse, "If you’re scared of that, you shouldn’t have joined the mission!"
"S-sorry..." Jiang Yu said with so difficulty. She unscrewed the bottle cap, gulped down a large mouthful of water with her eyes closed, then awkwardly climbed out of the car, got up, and ran towards Car Two, lying crosswise in the road with two thick steel rods piercing its hood nearby.
"Tsk... The difference in quality between these two rookies is too big." After a quick complaint, Ye Jiu plopped himself in the car, the sponge seat soaked with blood squelched instantly, a torrent of blood squeezed out from the sponge pores, splashing inside the car.
Ye Jiu attempted to start the car, but with an engine groan-like sound, the entire vehicle jerked violently, not budging under Ye Jiu’s commands.
"Damnit!" Ye Jiu slapped the steering wheel hard, cursing furiously, "Car One is also totaled! Candle Dragon, how’s it on your end?"
"I’m buying them so ti!" Candle Dragon replied over the communication channel.
