"Maybe it was a bug that got triggered," Sun Hang muttered.
Ya Qiaoxi: "A bug?"
"Accidentally, an extra giant floated up, to keep the ’auspicious number’ of one hundred and forty-four," Sun Hang said, "this one got buried under the sand and we act as if it doesn’t exist. Logically, even if we cut off this fingertip, it shouldn’t wake up, right? Didn’t your shovels touch it when you were digging out the sand?"
The two Hunters imdiately shook their heads, hesitated for a mont, and then nodded, followed quickly by shaking their heads again.
They also didn’t know whether the shovels had accidentally touched the fingertip — by the ti the fingertip erged, the two were blanking out.
"Anyway, speaking of that—you guys might not have touched it just now, but when the car got stuck, and when I lifted the rear bumper, I’m sure it touched the fingertip — or should I say, the force must have been transmitted to this giant’s body, yet it still hasn’t woken up... Maybe it just won’t wake?" Sun Hang said.
"Sun Hang, that’s too risky..." Ya Qiaoxi warned.
"Let’s try cutting it off," Sun Hang urged.
"Please don’t, my suggestion is to abandon the vehicle," Ya Qiaoxi quickly pulled Sun Hang back.
"Anyway, you make your own choice," Sun Hang glanced at the two Hunters, turning the shovels in their hands into saws, "I’ve provided the tools, I’ve done my fair share."
Several brave Hunters and rcenaries also ca over to take a look, and in the end, they unanimously concluded to abandon the vehicle—though the owner of this finger hasn’t awakened yet, no one can guarantee it won’t wake once the finger is sawed off.
Just like when you touch soone several tis while they’re asleep, they might not wake up, but if you go for their fingers with a saw and make them bloody... Not only will they wake up imdiately, they’re likely to launch an indiscriminate attack on anything that moves in their sight, fueled by intense pain and adrenaline.
"So if we abandon the vehicle, what about the few of us?" Besides the two digging the pit, there were three more people in the car.
"I’m sorry, there are no extra seats in the convoy." A Hunter said coldly.
"Even if you are willing to tie yourselves to the roof, I don’t think anyone will agree to let you be on their car." Another rcenary shook his head, "There are rules in the no-man’s land, you know... We can only offer help if it doesn’t harm our interests, but under these circumstances, we fear for our own safety."
"Maybe you can wait for the next convoy to arrive and hitch a ride with them," Ya Qiaoxi said.
"You an... we’re to wait here alone?" The Hunter holding the shovel – no, it should be holding the saw – exclaid.
"It shouldn’t take too long..." Ya Qiaoxi murmured, "Though we can’t determine their location now, based on the route set before diverging, the second convoy should pass through Giant Hill in no more than half an hour."
"Then you stay here and wait for that convoy!" A female Hunter from the stuck vehicle said angrily, "You wait here, and I’ll take your car! You said it yourself, it’s only half an hour!"
"What did you say?" Ya Qiaoxi looked at her in disbelief, struggling to believe those words ca from soone in their right mind.
"I said, if you think waiting here is safe, then you wait! I, for one, refuse to stay here!" The female Hunter raised her voice, making others nearby tense up in fear of waking the sleeping giants around.
"But, the car stuck in the sand pit is yours, mine hasn’t broken down." Ya Qiaoxi frowned, "How can you be so unreasonable?"
She wanted to argue further, but Sun Hang pulled her aside, saying softly, "No need to argue with that type of person, you speak reasonably, but she may not... maybe we shouldn’t have extended aid to them from the start."
"Damn it, now I understand what ’One al leads to a debt of gratitude and resentnt’ ans..." Ya Qiaoxi gritted her teeth, "We helped out of kindness, but she treats it as our obligation... I’m fed up, how does such a giant baby end up in the no-man’s land?"
"What did you call ?" The female Hunter charged at Ya Qiaoxi with fury, prompting her companion to reach out to hold her back, but she only managed to shove him aside.
"Ouch!"
The female Hunter had considerable strength, causing the Hunter trying to pull her back to stumble and fall right at the edge of the sand pit.
Worst of all, the liquid tal saw that Sun Hang had solidified dropped onto his leg at the critical mont.
To ensure cutting efficiency, the saw’s blade was extrely sharp, able to slice through tal effortlessly. It cut through the thick denim jeans and marked a shallow wound on the Hunter’s leg.
Warm blood sprayed from the wound, unfortunately ending up in the sand pit nearby.
"Oh crap!" A Hunter standing by swore, bolting for his car without a second thought.
Then, the ground began to shake violently!
"The giant has awoken!!!" Ya Qiaoxi’s pupils constricted sharply, in the next mont she felt herself hoisted by Sun Hang.
The car was over thirty ters away from the sand pit, but Sun Hang took less than half a second to reach the vehicle with Ya Qiaoxi.
Shoving Ya Qiaoxi into the back seat, Sun Hang imdiately got into the driver’s seat.
anwhile, the bloodstained fingertip was rapidly absorbing the blood, and the rock-like texture on the surface faded, transforming into bronze skin with eerie patterns.
The female Hunter responsible for the trouble sprinted away, grabbing a Hunter who hadn’t yet boarded a vehicle, but he ruthlessly shot her in the abdon and kicked her towards the sand pit.
The convoy advanced again, but this ti all vehicles sped toward the Giant Hill exit at full speed.
"Faster! Go faster!" Ya Qiaoxi brushed aside the hair in her face, urging loudly, "Don’t worry about waking other giants. They’ll wake anyway!"
"Why?" Sun Hang asked while driving.
"Because of that stupid woman!" Ya Qiaoxi couldn’t help but curse, "Among all the thods to wake giants, blood is the most dangerous! Giants awakened this way will trigger the other hundred and forty-three giants, turning the entire Giant Hill into an off-limits zone!!"
Sun Hang glanced at the rearview mirror to see a bronze giant hand erge from the sand pit, tossing the car high into the air.
Within half a second, the giant hand increased in size tenfold, grabbing the entire car.
Then, five copper-like fingers closed tightly, crushing the vehicle into a lump of scrap tal!
The Hunters who abandoned their vehicle were desperately chasing the convoy but didn’t get far as another bronze giant hand swept them away.
"They’re dood." Ya Qiaoxi declared their fate in one sentence, "Leave them be... we have ourselves to worry about now."
The Giant Hill began to quake as one bronze giant after another rose from the yellow sands, scanning the surroundings.
A car couldn’t dodge in ti, crashing into a giant’s lifted knee, exploding into a blossom of fla.
"I just thought of sothing," Sun Hang said.
"What?" Candle Dragon asked.
"With Giant Hill in this state, is the route blocked? What about the convoys following behind?"
