This is the duty of the Immortal Heroic Spirits!
They do not care about the rise and fall of worldly affairs, the changes of dynasties, or even pitying the common people, which is just a personal behavior and emotional inclination. Their only duty is to protect the continuity of human history.
When an apocalyptic threat erges, it is the ti for the Immortals to act.

Duncan rely glanced at it and tossed it aside, secretly thinking, "Unless it’s an asteroid hitting the Earth, humans couldn’t possibly go extinct."

Right now, everyone is sitting obediently on the Heroic Spirit Throne, and their busy schedule is at least a thousand years from now.
Even if the Black Death breaks out and half the population dies, humanity would not be extinguished. If they really need to walk on earth, it would be when a world-level nuclear war has beco a fait accompli, when such a crisis of human self-extinction might trigger a stress chanism in the long river of history.
At that ti, the immortals who have great achievents in human history will need to take action.
The ancestors can’t bear to watch!
Ungrateful descendants, how can humans go extinct under your watch? The ancestors are watching from the heavens!
Humanity cannot perish, unworthy descendants, prepare to be thrashed!
Other than that, the chanisms that can be activated are rely those few kinds: apocalyptic natural disasters, self-destruction after the explosion of human technology, and extermination wars waged by other alien life forms against humanity.
This chanism exists solely for the continuation of humanity.
Right now, Duncan doesn’t need to worry, but since he has beco an Immortal Heroic Spirit, it’s up to him to guard the long river of human history and the continuation of the race.
It’s not like he’s bearing this responsibility alone; there are other Immortals in human history too.

He imdiately stood up from the Immortal Heroic Spirit Throne.

As for the predictions and foresight of the Immortal Heroic Spirits about the future, Duncan doesn’t care much. It’s up to the descendants to have their fortunes. He won’t forcibly extend the empire; he’s not the empire’s nanny. Dynasty changes have their destined numbers, and if the descendants are promising, they will reform and solve things themselves.
Duncan would at most monitor from the background!
In case any cults, Evil Gods, or any chaotic supernatural entities deliberately attempt to destroy the empire prematurely, then don’t bla him for standing up from the Immortal Throne and striking.
Perhaps so Immortals will forcibly continue the country they established, but their end is generally not good; they may even lose their Heroic Spirit status.
Duncan is now the behind-the-scenes guardian ancestor of the empire. The empire can self-destruct, but it cannot be deliberately destroyed by supernatural entities!
If he stands up, more people will die.
This, the other entities are also very aware of, so now in the rapidly deteriorating World One, virtually no supernatural pseudo-Divine Spirit entities are jumping out to court death.
After six decades of reforge, the empire gradually entered a golden age.

The second human form of the Giant Dragon basically has no major issues, except that a continental shelf fell recently, causing a stir among various factions. The other matters are insignificant, just ordinary developntal land managent, which he can delegate by looking through managent records.
As for the fallen continental shelf, about the size of Great Britain, it’s quite far from the Northern Land. He stealthily checked it out, found many dead on the periter, and perfunctorily dealt with the task without getting involved in that commotion.
The main concern being a densely packed unit of four-star marks; the Giant Dragon is too noticeable and would get ganged up on.
Dark Elves have been keeping a relatively low profile recently.
As long as they don’t actively attack the Northern Land, Duncan is happy to develop in peace. For the Giant Dragon’s lifecycle, a few decades or centuries are really nothing. The deity-making ceremony alone takes decades to hundreds of years to prepare. Only at the mont of full launch will it cause a dramatic change. If even the Dark Elf Empress can endure, why couldn’t he?
Those who hastily trigger the deity-making ceremony are eventually overwheld beyond recognition.
Failure ans death and disappearance, with no guarantee of preserving even the soul.
Everyone knows the Dark Elf Empress wants to ascend, but when she will do so is entirely in her hands.
Duncan’s consciousness imrsed in the long river of history.
Just as he was scrutinizing everything as an observer, suddenly there was a slight tremor in Dinsion Space, and in the next second, an independent projection page appeared, showing a huge swirling black hole marked with blood-red light.
"Alert!"
"Detected void fissures!"
"Detected traces of life activities from other dinsions... target suspected to be Chaotic Creatures! Detected polluted Power of Faith! Target bears Evil God characteristics!"
Duncan’s spirits lifted instantly.
His figure flickered, appearing on the third projection page, and in the next second the scene shifted, with the void in the projection page rapidly flowing away.
In the reflection of Dinsion Space, the enormous feather-shaped nebula began rotating slowly.
"Mark the space!"
