If Death’s servant was here in the Hers Kingdom, then perhaps Julian’s death had been necessary to prevent him from discovering what was happening here.

"We need information," Seraphine said. "We need to understand what’s happening here, why we were brought to this specific place, and what’s going on in this kingdom."

Julian nodded, forcing himself to focus on imdiate concerns rather than disturbing thoughts.

"Agreed. But we need to be careful. We don’t know the political situation here, don’t know the laws or customs, and don’t even know our enemies."

He studied the settlent below more carefully now, looking for details that might be useful.

"We’ll need to blend in and gather information quietly. The last thing we want is to draw attention from anyone powerful—especially if Death’s servant really is sowhere in this kingdom."

Lyanna cracked her knuckles. "So we go in quietly, listen more than we talk, and try to understand what’s happening here."

"Exactly," Julian confird. "And we stay together. No separating, no taking risks. If sothing feels wrong, we retreat imdiately."

Cassandra looked down at her armor. It was certainly beautiful but definitely eye-catching.

"Father, we’re going to stand out in this gear. Look at the people down there—they’re wearing simple clothes. We look like we’re ready for war."

Julian nodded. "Good observation."

With a gesture, he transford their appearance. They were now standing with simple, plain attire and looked every bit the part of a village.

"Better," Seraphine said, examining her new appearance. "We look like travelers now."

Julian studied his daughters one final ti, making sure the illusions were perfect. Then he took a deep breath.

"Rember—we know nothing about this place. Stay alert, stay cautious, and trust your instincts. If sothing feels dangerous, it probably is."

They nodded and together walked down the hill. The descent took about twenty minutes, giving them enough ti to observe the city more closely.

The wooden fence surrounding the estate wasn’t particularly impressive. It was maybe fifteen feet high, constructed from sharp logs rather than stones. Guard towers were spaced irregularly along the wall, occupied by what appeared to be a mix of human and beastn soldiers.

The gate itself grew larger as they approached. Two guards flanked the entrance, both wearing simple leather armor. One was human; the other appeared to be so kind of bear-man with brown fur and small, rounded ears.

But what really caught their attention was the area outside the gate.

A small market was established there—perhaps two dozen stalls and vendors creating a bustling trading zone. Wooden carts, cloth-covered stands, and simple tables displayed various goods. The sll hit them imdiately—roasting at, fresh bread, strange spices, and different other magical items.

Julian’s eyes swept across the scene, taking in everything.

The market was crowded—far more crowded than he had expected for a settlent of this size. There were easily hundreds of people moving through the narrow spaces between stalls, haggling, searching, and buying goods.

And the diversity itself was impressive.

Elves were everywhere, and beastn of every variety mingled freely.

Julian saw what appeared to be a fox-woman with brownish fur and a magnificent tail. A massive bull-man, easily eight feet tall with impressive horns, carried sacks of grain on his shoulders.

And humans were present too, though they seed to be the minority here. They moved normally among the other species without fear.

As Julian and his daughters got closer, they began to attract attention.

Conversations stopped mid-sentence. Heads turned. Eyes focused on them with varying degrees of curiosity, suspicion, and interest.

Within thirty seconds, easily half the market was openly staring at them.

Julian kept his expression neutral. Despite his efforts to make them look like ordinary travelers, they stood out sohow. Was it their aura? Their equipnt? Sothing about their appearance that marked them as outsiders?

Before he could analyze further, a creature pushed through the crowd and approached them.

The being had a crocodilian body structure—scaled skin in shades of green and brown, a long snout filled with visible teeth, and yellow eyes with vertical pupils. But it walked fully upright on two legs, wore a colorful vest and loose trousers, and had surprisingly expressive features despite the reptilian face.

It was also significantly shorter than Julian had expected—maybe five and a half feet tall, giving it an almost comical appearance as it waddled toward them with surprising speed.

When it spoke, its voice was squeaky—high-pitched and rapid, completely opposite to its predatory appearance.

"Newcors! Newcors!" the crocodile-man announced loudly, drawing even more attention to Julian’s group. "Look everyone, we have newcors! Fresh faces!"

It circled around them.

"Oh my, oh my, yes indeed! Very unique looking! Very unique!" The squeaky voice was almost comical. "Where are you from? What brings you to our humble market? You four look quite... quite..."

The creature paused, searching for words.

"Quite extraordinary!" it finally whispered. "Yes, that’s the word! Extraordinary!"

Julian put on a friendly smile and replied calmly.

"We ca from hunting," he said, keeping his explanation simple and believable. "We’ve been tracking a strange creature for several days. Saw your settlent from a distance and decided to stop for supplies."

The crocodile-man’s eyes seed to grow even larger.

"Hunting! Oh ho! Hunters, are we? Wilderness travelers!" He clapped his clawed hands together. "Excellent, excellent! We always welco hunters! Good for trade, you know! Fresh at, quality belts!"

But then those yellow eyes shifted, focusing on the three won standing slightly behind Julian. The creature’s entire deanor changed—becoming even more spirited, if that was possible.

He began circling around them slowly, his long tail sweeping back and forth behind him.

"But wait, wait, WAIT!" The squeaky voice rose even higher. "What’s this? What’s THIS? Oh my gracious!"

He completed his circle and ca to stand in front of them again.

"WOW! What beauties! What absolute, stunning, magnificent beauties!" His head flicked between Seraphine, Lyanna, and Cassandra. "I’ve seen many females in my ti—elves, humans, and beastfolk of every variety—but you three! Oh, you three are sothing special!"
