Now reading: Chapter 83 - 62: A Duel of Wills! Abyssal Divine Chosen One, from I Aggressively Stack Steel of the Heart in the Knight Order, a Eastern novel by Great SufferingDeep Hatred.

Heinrich knew that Sedon had had plenty of ways to kill the reckless young Knight, Reinhardt, at the very beginning of the battle.

But.

This was not a war to purge the Alien Races and rebels. It was a battle between Imperial Knights, a battle to embrace glory, with their knightly vows and beliefs on the line!

This was a battle of ideals and will between Reinhardt and Sedon.

Striking a killing blow before one side knelt and begged for rcy would bring the victor no glory. It would even be seen as a sign of weakness, because ideals cannot be killed.

There are no debates between Knights. Their only way to converse is through combat!

And now, Reinhardt and Sedon had both held fast to their knightly ideals to the very end, embodying their beliefs with their actions as Imperial Knights.

The Death Battle Group was still on standby south of Baihe Town. Although many within the Battle Group had already mutinied, there were still Knights of the Loyalist Faction who needed soone to step up and lead them against the betrayal of Karloman and the Regent Council.

This precarious Human Empire needed Knights like Reinhardt more than ever. It was their indomitable spirit and noble ideals that illuminated the path forward in this dark world.

True to the na of the Empire.

The anthems written in the courage and sacrifice of its Knights and Mortals shone upon the nation like an Eternal Radiance.

Heinrich confird that Reinhardt was still alive. He raised a hand, signaling for the Radiant Angels to take over, treat Reinhardt’s wounds, and save his life.

He strode forward and stopped before Sedon, extending his right hand to him, as if they were back in their younger days at the training camp.

"The Empire and the Knights of the Loyalist Faction need you, old friend."

Sedon stared silently at his old friend. The loyal Knights who had died by his hand over the years, the Imperial Knight Orders he had annihilated... they all flashed through his mind like a spinning lantern.

Even now, Erich—that steadfast and reliable Knight, solid as an iron tower, who hadn’t even flinched in the face of death—his final plea as he knelt on the ground, his expression almost a desperate beg, still echoed in Sedon’s vision, refusing to fade.

Begging him to spare the youths in the training camp.

Begging him to spare Reinhardt...

’All the sins I’ve committed with my own hands... to think of them now, it’s so ironic. So laughable.’

’To think I actually pinned my hopes of reviving the Empire, of reviving this great nation, on Karloman and that pack of politicians in the Regent Council.’

’Every curse Reinhardt threw at was right.’

’Every word struck ho.’

’I gained power and glory because of the High Table Nobility blood in my veins, and because of that sa blood, I beca a clown trapped in a cage of conspiracy and foolish loyalty.’

But he would not fall because of this.

Because Reinhardt’s iron fists and blood had taught him a vivid and powerful lesson: if you want to realize the vision in your heart, you must fight for it!

’If I want to revive the Empire, I have to seize every opportunity firmly in my own hands! I can’t just pin my hopes on those idiots and traitors!’

Sedon grasped Heinrich’s right hand.

In that instant, his forr cold and steady deanor returned, but the way he looked at Reinhardt was no longer filled with the scorn and arrogance from Frostfire Fortress.

His gaze was exceptionally complex.

But deep within his eyes was a reverence he only ever showed when facing great figures and powerful military experts—a truth from the bottom of his heart.

Perhaps Reinhardt’s current strength was negligible.

But his noble belief, like the Eternal Radiance that had shone upon the Empire for a thousand years, could dispel all darkness!

At this mont, Sedon finally understood why Reinhardt, even after receiving the gaze and even the blessing of Avernus, could still possess such an unwavering will.

Because the dying boy kneeling on the ground was a true Empire’s Chosen One! Not one of the titles bestowed by the Regent Council and the Lord of the Empire to comnd the achievents of powerful Knights.

Those other Imperial Knights were made great by the title "Empire’s Chosen One."

But the title itself ought to take pride in Reinhardt.

No wonder Avernus of the Dark Abyss was so desperate to obtain Reinhardt and corrupt him into a Venerable Great Demon.

Back at Frostfire Fortress, he had been suspicious ever since he learned that Reinhardt had survived an encounter with the Death Knight Dortmund.

In hindsight, the Fear Knights that had suddenly appeared among the forces attacking the fortress were most likely there to capture Reinhardt.

Sedon raised a hand and tore off his completely shattered chest armor. He glanced at Reinhardt, then strode past him with purpose.

He stopped in front of Matthias.

It was the first ti the Battle Group’s new recruit had ever witnessed the Battle Group Leader in such a state, and for a mont, he didn’t know how to react.

Sedon just asked him coldly, "How many mutineers are in the Battle Group?"

Matthias finally snapped back to his senses. He presented the Battle Group’s token with both hands and stood at attention to answer, "The mutineers... there are..."

The topic seed too heavy. So many of his Battle Brothers, who had once fought and bled for the Empire alongside him, had turned traitor. He found it difficult to speak the exact number.

"How many."

Faced with the question, Matthias’s voice trembled.

"One hundred and four."

The Death Battle Group was a Tier Three main force Battle Group of the Seventh Group Army.

It had a full complent of three hundred n, divided into three independent formations: the elite Ash Guard, the main force Skeleton Knight Order, and the mobile support Harvesters.
