From within the largest tent built of giant beast bones and thick hides, ca muffled grumbles and suppressed roars.
In the center of the tent, the hearth crackled, distorting shadows projected onto the rough beast-hide tent.
If Gauss were here, he would notice that the goblin who rode the bat that night also sat here, cowering timidly.
On the main seat sat a goblin chief.
Its physique was even more robust than a Big Goblin, and atrocious scars almost covered its entire skin.
At this mont, it was constantly tapping a large unidentified creature’s leg bone in front of it, producing a dull thudding sound.
Below it sat the hunched Old Shaman, holding a staff entwined with feathers and bone bells, its murky eyes half-open.
The Goblin Bat Knight was enduring the gazes of both.
"So," the goblin chief suddenly spoke, using the common tongue in a low, raspy voice, filled with undisguised anger. "You took the best squad, those strong brats, to attack a team of only four, and in the end, you’re the only idiot who crawled back like a monkey with its tail on fire? Did all the others feed the dirt?"
The Bat Knight remained silent for a mont, before finally uttering a sharp voice after a long pause.
"Chief! That wasn’t an ordinary human team, there’s a monster there! He’s even more restrained towards us than the reports suggested...."
"Chief, we must be careful of that human."
It desperately described the extrely ominous aura Gauss exuded that night, an aura that seed to be the goblins’ natural enemy.
However, its fear appeared to the goblin chief as a ridiculous display of cowardice and shirking responsibility.
Even the Old Shaman beside it shook its head in disappointnt.
If not for the goblin runt in front of them being the top combat force in this expedition, considering the loss, they would have wished to tear the cowardly clansman apart and devour him.
However, even with their dullness and stupidity, goblins that reach a certain level can gain intelligence.
They clearly knew that the expedition, suffering a major loss, could no longer afford to lose the combat power before them.
