The secretary was utterly bewildered.
Watching the Chief tightly focused on his computer screen, even though he had no idea what was happening, he could only quietly close the door and retreat.
The mont the door shut—
The Chief suddenly clenched his fists, gritting his teeth as tension visibly wracked his body!
Even with so restraint, the anguish and indignation on his face were so vivid that anyone would rember it for a long ti. Clearly, he had experienced sothing similar to feel such overwhelming empathy!
On the computer screen—
A scene played out of demonic beasts surrounding a lone figure.
A sea of dark shadows engulfed the solitary silhouette, a sight so harrowing it was almost unbearable to watch, as if witnessing the prelude to a tragic demise!
But in the next instant—
Suddenly!
Through the gaps in the swarming shadows, a blinding white light erupted—so radiant that even through the screen, it felt dazzling beyond belief!
The Chief was so startled he yanked off his glasses, squinting as he strained to see!
Yet—
The light was too brilliant, like a teor exploding before his eyes, far too intense for human vision to endure!
After a fleeting mont of brilliance—
The Chief finally managed to open his eyes, only for them to widen uncontrollably!
On the screen—
A visible shockwave erupted, spreading like a tidal wave, kicking up a storm of dust from the ground—akin to a nuclear detonation!
Then, a delayed thunderous boom followed!
"BOOM!"
Even without witnessing it firsthand—
The Chief felt the impact as if he were right there, his entire being shaken by the sight and sound, jolting him upright from his desk in shock!
The Chief of the Investigation Division—jumping out of his seat in fright!
His glasses tumbled off!
Yet he no longer cared about composure or dignity, his eyes glued to the screen in sheer astonishnt, his face flushed with excitent. It was as if the tiny monitor held an inexplicable allure, rendering him utterly spellbound! ṞAΝ𝔬BƐ𝐒
Finally—
After a sharp inhale, having witnessed the entire aftermath—
The Chief let out a long exhale, but his agitation refused to settle. Pacing back and forth, fists clenched, his expression remained one of awe, unable to calm down!
"A master!"
"A truly extraordinary master!!!"
The more he muttered, the more fervent he beca!
Even with his glasses lost sowhere, he didn’t bother searching for them. Instead, he imdiately hunched over the computer, replaying the video—as if unable to believe his eyes, desperate to confirm it once more, or perhaps simply eager to relive the mont!
Noticing his blurred vision, he instinctively groped around.
Luckily, Xu Rong promptly handed him his glasses.
With his glasses back on, the Chief eagerly rewatched the surveillance footage, his eyes alight with anticipation. As the video played, his expression shifted between shock and exhilaration, as though he’d stumbled upon a world-shattering secret!
Just as he started the third replay—
The phone on his desk abruptly rang.
"Ring— Ring—"
Without even glancing, the Chief chanically picked up the call.
A stern, authoritative voice ca through.
"Chief, it’s ti for the eting!"
To his surprise, the Chief ignored it outright, hanging up without a word.
Then, for good asure, he yanked out the phone cord!
The action left Xu Rong wide-eyed.
But as her gaze returned to the surveillance footage, understanding dawned. In the face of such a monuntal discovery, nothing else mattered—least of all a phone call.
After all—
A warrior of this caliber was unprecedented!
If they could locate this master, it would be of imnse significance to Pingjiang City!
The surveillance video continued to play.
Again and again.
The staggering footage reflected in the Chief’s pristine glasses, mirroring his uncontainable excitent—a priority that eclipsed all else for this high-ranking official!
After what felt like an eternity—
The Chief finally stopped the video, leaning back in his chair, still wearing an expression of awe and lingering amazent.
"Indeed."
"Indeed!"
"Xu Rong, you were right—this is an extraordinary master!"
Xu Rong nodded eagerly in agreent.
"The Chief is wise!"
"Earlier, I acted rashly in my urgency. If I overstepped or offended, I hope the Chief can forgive my impropriety."
The Chief chuckled, waving it off magnanimously.
"Think nothing of it. Your reaction was understandable!"
Then, his gaze drifted back to the computer.
But his expression gradually sobered, a asured calm returning to his eyes.
"Xu Rong, what are your thoughts on this master?"
Xu Rong straightened, her tone solemn as she carefully analyzed.
"Chief."
"I’ve never heard of this master before, but since he appeared outside Jiangping City, he’s either passing through or resides nearby. It’s even possible he’s been living in seclusion within our city!"
"If we can find this senior, it would be of unprecedented significance—not just for our demon-hunting operations but for the safety of every citizen in Jiangping!"
Her analysis was level-headed and objective, earning the Chief’s approving nod.
"Well said. Your thoughts align with mine."
"However—"
"There’s one point you missed."
Xu Rong blinked in surprise.
"What point?"
The Chief rose slowly, gazing out the window, his eyes alight with hope.
"If we can locate this master, it won’t just change the fate of our city—it could be a turning point for the surrounding regions, even for all of humanity in this dire crisis!"
His grave words sent a tremor through Xu Rong’s eyes.
A turning point for all of humanity?!
