“What the—what’s going on?”
Sun Li asked, utterly bewildered.
Sure, the sword was extraordinary, but was it really impossible to pull out?
With his strength, he had nearly exerted his full force, yet it wouldn’t budge?
“Elder, don’t panic. This is a sword that defies common sense—it can even block the Black Domain. It’s only natural that ordinary thods won’t work,” soone nearby chid in, trying to reassure him.
“Fair point.”
Sun Li nodded.
He glanced around nervously, afraid that the white-robed lunatic from earlier might return and interfere again.
To avoid complications, he wanted to pull the sword out and leave as quickly as possible.
“Co on, all of you—channel your energy and lend your strength!”
Sun Li barked.
Hearing this, the group imdiately began circulating their power. Waves of formidable energy surged toward Sun Li like a wellspring of force.
Instantly, Sun Li felt invigorated.
He gripped the hilt once more.
“Hrrrgh—!”
With a furious roar, Sun Li unleashed his own strength, amplified by the combined power of the others.
Crack!
The ground split apart as the sword was finally wrenched free.
But what left Sun Li and the others stunned was that along with the sword, they had also pulled out a skeleton.
“H-how did we end up dragging out a skeleton too?” soone gasped in shock.
The rest were equally dumbfounded—none had expected the sword to be embedded in a corpse.
What baffled them even more was that, given the sheer force applied, the sword should have separated from the skeleton. Yet, the entire body had co along with it.
It seed the sword was inextricably bound to the skeleton.
“This person must have been a powerhouse in life,” one person speculated.
“Must’ve been!” another agreed. “No ordinary person would be struck down by such a divine sword.”
“Hmm.”
Sun Li nodded solemnly, agreeing with the assessnt. Then, stroking his chin, he added, “But the placent of this sword… is downright perplexing.”
“Right? I was just thinking that. Why stab it in the butt? Shouldn’t it be in a vital spot?”
“Maybe… his weakness was in his rear?”
“What kind of freak has a butt for a weakness?”
“Who knows? Maybe he cultivated so unorthodox technique or wanted to mislead his enemies by hiding his weak point there.”
“Enough! Stop bickering!”
Sun Li snapped impatiently. “Just pull the damn sword out so we can leave.”
“But the sword seems fused to the skeleton. It won’t co loose easily,” one person pointed out hesitantly.
“If we can’t pull it out, then smash the skeleton to pieces,” Sun Li growled. “It’s just a pile of old bones. How hard can it be?”
With that, he flicked his wrist.
A massive energy sphere materialized in his palm. He eyed the skeleton coldly, ready to blast it apart.
“Elder, this was once a formidable expert’s remains. Isn’t this… a bit disrespectful?”
One person stepped forward, voicing their concern. “A warrior slain by a divine sword deserves so dignity. Destroying his corpse after death… that’s just tragic.”
“What do I care about his corpse?”
“Dead is dead. No need for pointless formalities.”
“No ti for gentle pulling—just smash it and take the sword.”
Sun Li snorted and hurled the energy sphere straight at the skeleton on the ground.
