Your mother might have already forgotten, or no longer cares about what happened when you were little.
But I hope you can rember."
"She's just sick, right?" There was a hint of hope in Lu Jing's eyes.
"You just need to rember that her love for you has never lessened."
Wen Yan's figure gradually faded away into the dream.
He opened his eyes, stood up, reached out a finger, and tapped Lu Jing lightly on the forehead, blessing her with Yang Energy.
"I hope you can keep moving forward with determination. May the radiance of the Great Sun light your path."
He had done all he could. Wen Yan was out of options.
According to the rules of the Scorching Sun Departnt, he really shouldn't have told Lu Jing the truth so casually. Fortunately, he wasn't a person from the Scorching Sun Departnt; he felt Lu Jing had a right to know, and he felt he should tell her. So, he did.
Standing nearby, ng An had a hint of respect in his eyes.
Seeing Wen Yan turn around, as if wanting to ask sothing, ng An imdiately spoke up.
"Don't worry, this works even better than telling her in person. Even if she forgets the exact words in the future, she won't forget the feelings in her heart, or what she needs to do."
"So you an, a dream can really influence soone's thoughts?"
"Direct control is impossible. Dreams are an extension of the soul's realm. No one can directly alter things without causing harm. But if you follow along with what the person genuinely wants, you can indeed strengthen so inner suggestions."
Hearing this, Wen Yan secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
This ant that what he had said did indeed resonate with Lu Jing's true heart, which is why that broken world had begun to rebuild itself.
That's good. At least the person he had saved wasn't an ingrate.
Wen Yan took a cloth pouch from ng An, placed the Ghost Bone inside, gave one last look at the still sleeping Lu Jing, brought Tong Si along, and turned to leave.
Getting into the car, he even saw so people from the Scorching Sun Departnt on the way. When they noticed it was Wen Yan, they simply gave him a distant wave and didn't stop him to ask anything.
A few minutes later, his phone rang—Feng Yao was calling.
"Let ask you sothing. Did Tuoba Martial God step in to take out sothing? Do you know?"
"Hm?" Wen Yan was taken aback, not quite understanding what Feng Yao ant.
"Uh, you just happened to be nearby, and you didn't even go take a look?"
Wen Yan's thoughts raced, and his eyes widened instantly.
Oh man, don't tell they think I'm the Tuoba Martial God?
At the ti, he had blessed himself with the Explosive Great Sun, rage surging, plus his own Yang Energy was flaring up—a union of intention and Heart Fire. For that mont, everything ca together like never before.
The outburst in that instant really did far surpass his usual Yang Energy levels.
But even so, compared to Tuoba Martial God's Yang Energy that can span dozens of miles, wasn't it pretty much incomparable?
His mind spinning rapidly, Wen Yan's face grew serious as he replied imdiately.
"I was busy dealing with Lu Jing at the ti. Her situation was a bit serious. I didn't have ti to go see what was happening outside.
Probably nothing major—if sothing provoked Tuoba Martial God, it would've been vaporized in a few seconds anyway.
If there were any real problem, the Scorching Sun Departnt would've contacted us long ago."
"True, makes sense. What a sha..." Feng Yao sighed, still a bit disappointed he couldn't et Tuoba Martial God, have a chat; if he could shoot the breeze with him, work would beco a lot easier.
"That female college student, she's alright now, right?"
"She's fine. Just a bit of trouble is all. No big issues. All resolved."
After hanging up, Wen Yan glanced at the date on his phone, thinking: Zhang Xuewen must be grinning from ear to ear by now?
If Zhang Xuewen doesn't treat him to a month of lavish als, his conscience will never rest easy!
Last ti, Wen Yan saw how worried Zhang Xuewen was about the dates; now, great, he'd just unwittingly played the role of Zhang Xuewen's savior-in-chief.
Wen Yan checked the ti, then drove out of the city, ready to go ho and eat.
...
In the afternoon, Lu Jing finally woke up, groggy and disoriented. She felt like she'd only just fallen asleep for a few minutes, but when she opened her eyes, almost the whole day had gone by.
Getting down from the hospital bed, she felt her spirit restored by leaps and bounds. She thought maybe the doctors in this clinic, skill aside, made the place pretty great if nothing else— even the bed felt special and comfy.
Stepping out of the ward, the front desk girl spotted her and grinned at once.
"You're awake? Want so water?" The receptionist poured a glass of water and handed it to Lu Jing.
"Thank you..." As Lu Jing drank, things rose up in her mind, as if she could still rember fragnts of a dream from just upon waking.
A mont later, she said goodbye to Doctor ng and left the clinic, only to hurriedly dig out her phone and call her roommate. Her roommate proudly told her there was roll call today, but managed to pull a friend from another class to help cover for her— no need to worry about being marked absent.
Also, a boy had secretly dropped off two pairs of clean underwear and asked if she wanted them.
Lu Jing was mortified, hurriedly declined, and as she was about to call a ride back to campus, hesitated, put away her phone, and walked to the subway, taking over an hour to get ho by train.
The house was empty—her mother wasn't ho either. She sat for a bit, rubbed her stomach, and started rummaging in the fridge for food.
Over half an hour later, the front door opened. A middle-aged woman entered, only to freeze for a second at the sight of Lu Jing in the kitchen, clutching a kitchen knife with great concentration, slicing vegetables one by one.
"You got a holiday today?"
"Yeah, break day. Missed your cooking."
Lu Jing's mother took off her coat, watching Lu Jing's awkward hand movents. The more she watched, the less pleased she seed. Finally, she waved her hand, a little impatiently.
"Out of the way, out of the way. You're hopeless."
Lu Jing's mother nudged her aside, washed her hands, then picked up the knife. Her chopping was crisp and decisive: one smack for the garlic, peeling it off, a few more chops, and in seconds, she had the garlic prepped for stir-frying.
Lu Jing stood off to the side and managed a dry laugh; just now, it had taken her ages to peel just two cloves of garlic.
"Still laughing? Useless. With hands like yours, how will you ever get married?"
"I'm not getting married. After graduation, I'm just going to stay with you forever."
Her mom rolled her eyes, but the corners of her mouth gave away a hint of a smile.
"You talk a good ga now, but watch—you'll probably end up like the kid next door, marrying soone from out of town and then living a happy life far away."
