One doesn’t need to delve too deep to grasp the implication behind these words.
A slick operator like Mr. Song, how could he not catch the undertone?
"Look at the way you’re talking, Miss Wave. It’s our honor to have you here. How could we say it’s a trouble?" Mr. Song said with a smile.
Kris Cooper gave a light smile, his gaze falling on Robert Taylor’s face. "Vera, what’s going on here?"
Vera had initially worried that Kris would be angry with her. But seeing him speak on her behalf, she promptly took advantage of the situation. Pouting her lips, she spoke in a coquettish tone, "I asked Manager Taylor here to help fill out a form, and he lost his temper with ! You didn’t see his expression... it scared to death!"
"Really?" Kris Cooper smiled and looked up at Robert Taylor. "Manager Taylor, is that right? Excellent. I like people with character."
Robert Taylor’s face imdiately turned ashen. Mr. Cooper, I... I had no idea she was your friend!
This man was the heir to Ashton Real Estate, the top figure in Imperial City’s property circles. Even the presidents of several major banks had to show him deference. Mr. Song had visited Ashton Real Estate countless tis but had never managed to secure a eting with this scion. How could Robert Taylor possibly afford to offend him? If he offended him, forget being a manager; he wouldn’t be able to survive in Imperial City’s banking sector anymore. He had spent more than half his life in banking and was due for a promotion to Deputy Bank President in a few years. He couldn’t possibly risk his entire future and livelihood over a montary fit of pique.
Seeing that Kris Cooper was no longer even looking at him, Robert Taylor quickly turned to plead with Vera. "Miss Wave, I just... my legs were a bit numb, so I stood up to stretch. I’ll help you fill out the form now!" In his panic, he plopped back down on his knees with a thud, grabbed the pen, and resud filling out the form. "Don’t worry, I’ll rewrite it for you right away!"
Heh heh, this Kris Cooper trump card is really useful! Vera smirked inwardly, though her face wore a cheerful smile.
"Manager Taylor, could you please help fill out a few more forms for opening bank accounts? Oh, and also help apply for a Wealth Managent Card and a credit card. Right, and fill out three insurance applications and one fixed deposit form..." Vera listed all the forms she could think of but still didn’t feel she’d vented her frustration enough. So, she turned to Kris Cooper. "Honey, do you want to apply for a few cards too?"
She had beco quite adept at borrowing his influence recently.
Her "Honey" made the corners of Kris Cooper’s lips lift.
That cheeky girl! he thought. When she needs him, she’s sweeter than anyone.
Placing his hands on her shoulders, he bent down and brushed a light kiss near her ear. "Honey, I’ll listen to you. However many cards you say, that’s how many we’ll get."
The light kiss sent shivers down Vera’s spine, but she didn’t dare to dodge. Instead, she flashed him a sweet smile before turning her gaze back to Robert Taylor. "Did you hear that? Get all the cards I just ntioned for my husband too!"
So it’s not his ti to be arrogant anymore, huh? Damn it! Work him to death! If he doesn’t kneel until he gets arthritis today, he shouldn’t even think about getting up!
The Duty Manager saw the situation turning sour and hurriedly signaled Security to close the bank doors early. However, while this could stop more custors from entering, it couldn’t make the staff leave.
With no work to do, the staff mbers watched Robert Taylor kneeling on the floor from a distance, each of them sighing to themselves.
"Who is that man? Even Mr. Song doesn’t dare to sit in his presence?" soone whispered.
