"Nathan, you have to take good care of Vera for ." At this point, tears had already flowed from Grandma Wave’s eyes, "Vera’s life has been so tough these past few years!"
Nathan Leafcastle held Vera Wave’s hand, "Grandma, don’t worry, I will!"
"Yes, Grandma believes in you!" Grandma Wave smiled through her tears, "You’ve been sensible since you were little. By the way, Nathan, how are your parents? Please tell them that I will be discharged in a few days, and I wish they could co to the old house for a nice gathering!"

Vera smiled apologetically at him, "Sorry, I’ll be mindful from now on."
They walked to the elevator together, Nathan glanced at the docunt she was holding, "What do you do for work now?"
"I’m in the Advertising Departnt at Ashton."
Just as she finished speaking, her phone rang. Vera answered it, and her landlord’s voice ca through, "Ms. Wave, the relocation docunts have arrived for my house. You better start looking for a new place!"
"So soon? But I’ve paid rent until mid-April!"
"I’ll definitely refund the extra rent to you. The demolition is happening now, I can’t do anything about it, we’ve already signed the agreent over here. How about this, I’ll co by this weekend to collect the keys and refund your rent."
After saying that, the landlord hung up the phone.
Listening to the dial tone, Vera frowned.
Where would she find a place in such a short ti?
"What’s wrong?" Nathan asked from the side.
"It’s nothing." Vera smiled at him, stepped out of the elevator, "Thank you for visiting Grandma today. Take care on your way ho, goodbye!"
"Vera!" Nathan hurried a couple of steps forward, grabbed her arm, "My place is pretty big. How about... you stay for a few days to relieve the imdiate pressure? You can move out when you find a suitable place."
"No need, that would be too inconvenient!" Vera withdrew her hand, smiling at him, "It’s okay, I can just stay at my friend’s place for a few days."
"Shall I take you back then?"
"No need, the subway works just fine for ."
Nathan looked deeply at her face, his eyes conveying profound emotion, "Do you dislike so much?"
"No, not at all. I... I just think it’d be too troubleso."
"Vera!"
"Brother Nathan," Vera t his concerned gaze with determination, "I know you an well, but right now I don’t need pity and sympathy. If you really want to help, check into the old house situation for , would you? I take the subway every day, I’m quite familiar with it, don’t worry. I’ll text you when I get ho. Goodbye."
Turning around, she dashed down the steps, waved at him from a distance, then turned, striding towards the subway station.
In the night, under the streetlights, though carrying a big bag and holding a load of docunts, her slender back remained straight, radiating resilience and pride.
