Early the next morning, Vera Wave got out of bed.
She first went to the restroom to shower, put on the dress she’d prepared the night before, wore her heels, and looked at herself in the mirror by the hallway. Satisfied, she nodded, grabbed her bag, and left ho.
As this was about succeeding or failing at work, she had, of course, made an extra effort to look more beautiful. She even put on the high heels she rarely wore.
In fact, it was still quite a while before the agreed-upon ten o’clock eting. She was just worried about traffic, so she decided to leave early to avoid being late.
Fortunately, the Skywalk Building wasn’t too far from where she lived; it was just a few stops on the subway. When she entered the Skywalk Building, it was still ten minutes to ten.
The normal operating hours at the Skywalk Building were from 9:30 AM, but most departnts didn’t strictly adhere to a schedule, so the lobby was always bustling with people.
Vera entered the elevator and went directly to the 30th floor, arriving at the Publicity Departnt office.
After readjusting her outfit, she curled her lips into a smile and raised her hand to knock on the office door.

The voice from inside the office wasn’t a woman’s, but a pleasing baritone.
That voice... it sounded vaguely familiar.
She clearly rembered a female Manager yesterday. Could the interviewer have been changed today?
Vera felt a bit unsettled as she pushed open the door, her gaze naturally landing behind the desk.
Behind the desk, a high-backed chair faced away from her. From her angle, she could only see half of a person’s head visible above the back of the chair, and an arm resting casually on the chair’s armrest.
Between pale, slender fingers was a phone, and he was... playing a ga!
She recognized that interface; it was for the ga "King’s Journey."
Was this a joke? Playing gas during work hours? This guy was way too casual, wasn’t he?
"Ahem!" Vera cleared her throat lightly and then spoke sweetly, "Hello, I’m here for the interview. This is my resu."
She wasn’t the boss, so she couldn’t dictate what others did at work; her main concern was to land the job. Since it was a male superior conducting the interview, she resolved to use all her feminine prowess to win him over!
"Place it on the table with your ID Card!"
His voice was a bit muffled, as if he had sothing in his mouth. He couldn’t be playing gas and eating at the sa ti, could he? That was just too much!
"Alright."
Vera responded obediently.
Accompanying the sound of clashing blades was uplifting music.
Vera had also played "King’s Journey," so she imdiately recognized it as the victory music.
His slender fingers tightened on the phone. The chair creaked slightly, and the man, whose back had been to her, turned around.
Vera imdiately bead a sweet smile, ready to deploy her full arsenal of charm to win over the interviewer.
But upon seeing his smiling face, her mouth, which had been fixed in a sweet smile, instantly widened into a capital ’O’.
Did she owe him from a past life? Why did she keep running into this jinx wherever she went?!
"Head..."
Kris Cooper’s face instantly darkened.
"’Head’ what?"
Vera’s heart skipped a beat. After a mont, she managed to plaster a fawning smile back on her face.
"I ant... head... your hair! Mr. Kris, your hairstyle is excellent. It suits you perfectly! It’s utterly cool, completely dashing..."
