Being scolded by the director in front of so many people was a first for Irene Spencer since her rise to fa, and she struggled to keep her emotions from showing on her face.
"I apologize, Director. I need to use the restroom," she said.
Once inside the restroom with her assistant and standing before the mirror, Irene’s face quickly hardened into an expression of undisguised anger. After washing her hands, she slamd the liquid soap bottle aside, her expression turning nacing.
"Damn it! How dare she make get scolded by the director, that little wretch..."
Her assistant, Anabel Wilton, closed the door and turned to look at her, her expression showing little surprise. The public knew Irene Spencer as low-key and mild-mannered, never one to act like a diva. In reality, that was rely an image she projected; only Anabel knew what kind of person her boss truly was.
"From what I can see, there must be soone pulling the strings. Otherwise, this little girl couldn’t possibly know how to stir up such trouble on her own," Anabel said.
"Hmph!" Irene took the tissue Anabel handed her, wiped her fingers, then lifted her chin to study her reflection. "She thinks she can compete with ? She’s far from ready!"
"But," Anabel frowned slightly, "I just overheard the filming team chatting. Apparently, this girl is quite close to Kris Cooper. Could she possibly be... his girlfriend?"
Hearing the word "girlfriend," Irene’s brows instantly furrowed.
THUD! She tossed the used tissue into the sink, her eyes growing colder.
"Find a way to leak the news. Say... Vera Wave was disrespectful to on set and deliberately stepped on to cause injury. Rember to use your burner account for the leak, and don’t let anyone trace it back to you," she commanded.
Anabel smiled. "Consider it done. You can count on ." As she spoke, she glanced warily towards the doorway. "It sounds like soone’s coming!"
By then, Irene had also heard the footsteps. She quickly masked her furious expression, smoothed her hair in the mirror, and composed her features into her usual humble, gentle smile before walking out of the restroom with Anabel.
Outside the restroom, a staff mber was waiting.
"Miss Spencer, the director asks... if you could please hurry a bit."
Given her star status, the staff mber phrased the request delicately, despite acting on the director’s orders.
Irene, however, smiled and responded politely, "Oh, I’m so sorry to have troubled you to co all this way. I’ll head over right now."
They returned to the Peach Blossom Forest set, where a make-up artist quickly touched up Irene’s make-up before they resud filming.
This ti, Irene was fully committed. She couldn’t let the reputation and popularity she had painstakingly built over more than two years be destroyed by Vera Wave over such a trivial matter.
This film boasted an impressive production lineup, an excellent script and team, and rich character developnt. As long as she perford well, it would undoubtedly beco a shining highlight in her acting career.
The scene was successfully completed before sunset.
Seeing that Irene Spencer had reined in her attitude, Director Song was very satisfied with both their performances, and his expression softened considerably.
"Excellent, excellent! Especially Vera Wave—your grasp of the character is spot on! Alright, that’s it for today. Everyone get a good night’s rest; we’ll film the morning scenes first thing tomorrow. That’s a wrap!"
The mont they heard "wrap," everyone who had been busy all day visibly brightened.
Being part of the filming team usually ant working around the clock, so finishing this early today was a rare treat.
