Irene Spencer unfurled her right hand, blowing gently on her nail polish. "He wants to keep a low profile, but I choose not to. I’m going to let the whole world know he’s with ."
With her deliberate efforts, rumors of her and Kris Cooper had already begun circulating. If their secret rendezvous tonight were to be discovered and exposed, the rumors would be confird. She didn’t believe that Vera Wave, with her temperant, would take it lightly if her man were unfaithful. When that ti cos, the bigger the scene she makes, the better. Leaving Kris Cooper in a huff would be the best scenario! Love? What is love? Only in films does a self-sacrificing woman get to be the protagonist. This world is survival of the fittest. If you want sothing, you have to fight for it yourself. That was Irene Spencer’s creed, the key that had taken her from an unknown girl to her current position—the ends justify the ans.
With her nails done, her hair in a ponytail, and her face adorned with soft, Korean-style makeup, Irene Spencer grabbed her bag and headed towards the walk-in closet. Even though Anabel Wilton had suggested she wear flats with this outfit, Irene Spencer, obsessed with her appearance, ultimately chose a pair of white ankle boots with hidden heels. Her body proportions weren’t ideal. Although she was tall, her legs weren’t particularly long, and she certainly didn’t want to reveal her ’short legs’ to Kris Cooper.
"I’m going out now. Contact the journalists right away."
Kris Cooper had taken the initiative to invite her. This was an incredibly rare opportunity, and Irene Spencer naturally had to seize it.
"Don’t worry. I’ll contact a few more journalists. By tomorrow morning, the whole world will know you two are together." Anabel Wilton handed her a pair of oversized eyeglass fras. "Good luck winning him over this year!"
Irene Spencer took the hat and said, "If I succeed tonight, I’ll give you a generous bonus tomorrow."
"That would be wonderful! Thank you, Irene!"
Anabel Wilton escorted her to the private elevator entrance and pressed the button for her.
"If I’m not back by eleven, don’t bother waiting up."
Waving goodbye, Irene Spencer stepped into the elevator and headed downstairs.
Putting on her wide-brimd glasses and a face mask, she folded her arms and began to sche quietly. I need to find an excuse to take Kris Cooper sowhere for a drink. As long as I can get him drunk, he’ll be mine tonight!
After exiting the elevator, Irene Spencer got into her car, started the engine, and drove out of the residential complex’s parking garage. Since she was unfamiliar with the roads, she had to drive around in circles a few tis before finally finding the location. After parking in a nearby lot, she quickly arrived at the eting spot Kris Cooper had arranged. She glanced at her watch; it was already 8:30 PM.
She sat on a chair for a mont, then took out her phone and dialed Kris Cooper’s number. A mont later, the call connected, and then... the line was busy. She tried a few more tis, but it was still busy. "You sure are busy!" she muttered.
She didn’t dwell on it and promptly sent him a text ssage, letting him know she had arrived and was waiting.
Sitting back on the chair, she took out her compact mirror to check her reflection. Irene Spencer narcissistically snapped a few selfies. When she noticed soone walking by in the distance, she quickly pulled her mask back up.
Just then, three young won approached from a nearby path. Seeing Irene Spencer from a distance, the three of them stopped in their tracks.
"Is that her?" the one with long hair asked.
"It must be. Isn’t that the third chair?" the short-haired one said.
