She pouted for a mont but eventually ca back. She helped him open the car door, then bent down, mimicking a pose from a Qing Dynasty drama, and said,
"Your Majesty, the car has arrived. Please alight!"
Kris Cooper gently pinched her small cheek and said with a smile, "The new ga still has so bugs that need fixing. I have to go back to work, so I can’t have dinner with you. Rest early tonight."
"So busy?" Vera Wave straightened up, her concerned gaze resting on his face. "You should also rest early and not stay up too late."
Kris Cooper smiled gently. "I’ll be fine. You go on inside!"
"What do you an, you’ll be fine!" Vera Wave helped him close the car door. She then leaned against the car window, wagging a finger at his nose. "Listen here, Kris Cooper, if you give yourself dark circles from staying up too late, I won’t let you off... MMMH!"
Before she could finish speaking, his large hand cradled her small face, and he kissed her slightly parted lips.
Kris Cooper kissed her until her lips were flushed like cherries before he reluctantly released her mouth, which was sweet when she spoke but even sweeter to kiss.
Such an adorable little thing. If only I could carry her in my pocket all day, keep her with always.
"I’ve been really busy these past few days. I’ll make it up to you properly in a few days."
"It’s okay!" The young lady smiled faintly. "We have a long life ahead of us. Sleeping alone in the big bed is quite nice, actually."
"Really?"
He raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah! Every night, the mont my head hits the pillow, I’m out like a light, and I can roll around as much as I want."
She giggled, dodged his outstretched hand, and darted up the steps.
"Drive carefully! Don’t you dare damage my husband’s car!"
Just then, Mrs. Feng opened the courtyard gate. Vera Wave stuck her tongue out at him, stepped inside, then turned and waved.
He smiled back at her, rolled up the car window, and Kris Cooper started the car, driving out of the alley.
He drove very slowly until he had rounded the corner and could no longer see the young lady in his rearview mirror. Only then did he increase his speed.
Once this busy period is over, I’ll take her to et my parents. We can start discussing marriage then.
「Dragon Mansion Pri Villa.」
Inside the study of a standalone villa, Nathan Leafcastle sat at his desk, quickly typing his email password. The page flickered and instantly switched to his inbox.
He moved the mouse, opening his inbox. It contained over a hundred emails; the sender for every single one, without exception, was ’Vera’.
This inbox stored all the emails Vera Wave had sent him. The most recent one was from six years ago.
Since then, she had never sent him another email.
Staring at the date, Nathan Leafcastle took a deep breath. His mouse cursor hovered over that email for a mont before he abruptly closed the application.
A knock sounded at the door. His assistant walked in, followed by a middle-aged man with blond hair and blue eyes.
Nathan Leafcastle imdiately rose, walked over, extended his hand, and spoke in English.
"Welco, Dr. Sumrton."
"Mr. Leafcastle, long ti no see!" Dr. Sumrton said with a smile as they shook hands. "I wonder, why the urgent summons this ti? Is there sothing specific?"
Nathan Leafcastle didn’t answer imdiately. Instead, he waved his hand at his assistant.
"Please get the doctor a cup of tea."
Once the assistant had left, he invited Dr. Sumrton to sit. He then walked to his desk, retrieved a file from the safe, and handed it to Dr. Sumrton.
"I know you’re an expert in psychology and mory studies. I’ve specifically invited you here because I’d like you to see a friend of mine. I need to know if you’re confident you can help her."
