"Mom!" Nathan Leafcastle glanced at his mother and finally compromised, "I... I’ll just eat half a bowl."
Liliana Davis smiled, lifting the bowl to his mouth and feeding him.
"Good boy, Mom knew you are the most sensible!"
...
...
The old residence.
The phone on the table suddenly lit up, appearing particularly dazzling in the dark room, and its buzzing vibration was particularly ear-piercing.
The sleeping Kris Cooper was suddenly startled awake, reached for the phone, and answered the call.
"Wait for ." He said quietly, turned his face to look at the sleeping Vera beside him in the dim light, got up gently, and walked out of the bedroom, "What’s up?"
On the other end of the line, the man’s voice was low, speaking fluent English.
"Mr. Cooper, you previously asked to investigate that piece of land in Singapore, and I’ve found so clues."
Kris Cooper switched to English as well.
"Speak."
"That project was originally a governnt project. At first, the governnt indeed supported it, but later a social environntal group raised objections and even organized a protest. The governnt was pressured to shelve the project."
"Social environntal group?"
"Yes."
"Send its information."
"I’ve already sent it to your email, along with information on all other personnel involved in the project’s decision-making."
"Good." Kris Cooper lifted his face to look at the deep night outside the window, "How did this project end up with Walter Wave Realty?"
"The project wasn’t a competitive bid. I’m still investigating who linked it to Walter Wave."
"Okay, keep investigating. Also, I want you to compile all the important personnel’s information involved in this matter; I need to know their connections with the Wave Clan."
"Understood, Mr. Cooper."
Kris Cooper hung up the phone, withdrew his gaze from the night outside the window, tightened the casually draped clothes on his body, turned, and walked into the study room to open the newly received email docunts.
He read through them carefully from start to finish, finding little insight.
The docunts listed in detail all the important personnel involved in the project, but to determine who among them had a vendetta with the Wave Clan, a thorough investigation would be required to conclude.
However, Kris Cooper’s intuition told him that the person connected to the Wave Clan must be among them.
This matter was not a re coincidence.
Shutting down the computer, he gently returned to the bedroom, bent down to arrange Vera’s quilt, and watched her sleeping face in the darkness, his gaze turning tender.
"Don’t worry, Vera, everyone who has ever hurt you will pay for it!"
...
...
The next morning, when Vera woke up, Kris Cooper was still asleep by her side, with one of his arms wrapped around her, his hand resting precisely on her chest, cupping one of her little bunnies in his palm.
Her face flushed; she carefully removed his hand, moved his arm from her body, and was trying to get up quietly when he pulled her back, holding her in his embrace again.
With his eyes closed, he kissed the back of her neck, his voice still a bit muddled.
"Silly girl, forget it’s Sunday?"
Of course, she knew it was Sunday, but there was an event on Monday that her group was in charge of, and she had to set up the Conference Hall today.
