Putting on his pants, taking a new shirt from the wardrobe and putting it on, Kris Cooper turned and smiled at her.
"Not too bad, huh?"
The person who was secretly peeking imdiately blushed and quickly looked away from him.
"I... I wasn’t looking at you, I... I was just looking at the cabinet."
Casually buttoning up two buttons and rolling up both sleeves to the elbows, Kris Cooper turned and walked to the bed, reaching out to gently rub her fingers.
"I’ll let you look all you want next ti, but for now I’ll go check if dinner’s here."
Kris Cooper walked to the door and closed it tightly. Vera Wave subtly tilted her head, watching him shut the door, finally sighed in relief and relaxed on the pillow, still with confusion on her face.
Both doing the sa thing, it was clearly him doing the work, but how co in the end, he looked full of energy like he was on chicken blood, while she was exhausted?
Her gaze fell on his phone, and Vera quickly got up to grab his phone, entering rlin Bradley’s number and dialing.
Leaving others hanging like this requires at least so explanation.
"Hello?" The call connected and the voice on the other end was confused, "Who’s this?"
"It’s , rlin, you guys... weren’t waiting for , right?"
"If we had waited any longer, we’d starve to death." rlin detected it was her and her tone was playful, "This is the CEO’s phone, right? He left so hastily without even taking it. Was there sothing urgent?"
"We... we’re discussing so work!"
Though she said that, Vera herself didn’t find it convincing in the slightest.
Sure enough, rlin burst into laughter on the other end.
"Sorry!" Vera apologized, "I... I didn’t an to, tomorrow... tomorrow I’ll treat you guys, I promise."
"Alright, no need to explain. Is the CEO treating his outstanding employees? We all get it!" rlin laughed, "It’s fine, although we don’t get special care from the CEO, we’re having a feast and about to head ho to our own families. I didn’t lock your office door, your phone and wallet are safely in the cabinet, they won’t go missing."
"Then tell Brother Ruben and little Ya for , so they won’t be mad at ."
"What are you saying, we wouldn’t dare be mad at the CEO’s wife, are we looking to get fired?" rlin teased.
At this point, Vera relaxed and pretended to be angry.
"You little rascal, getting cheeky now?"
"Wouldn’t dare, wouldn’t dare, or else if the CEO fires tomorrow, I wouldn’t even have a place to cry."
Hearing Kris Cooper talking with the delivery person outside, she quickly ended the call.
"I won’t say more, see you tomorrow."
"Okay, see you tomorrow."
After hanging up, she rapidly grabbed her clothes to put on, while she was still searching everywhere for the sock she didn’t know where she lost. Kris Cooper had already pushed the door open and walked in.
Seeing her rummaging on the bed, he walked over curiously, "What are you looking for?"
She frustratedly extended her bare foot, "I’m missing one sock."
"Don’t move!" Pulling her to sit on the bed, he lifted the quilt with a slight shake, and a balled-up white cotton sock fell onto the floor.
Seeing him bend over to pick up the sock from the floor, she imdiately reached out to take it, but instead of giving it to her, he flattened the sock and patted away nonexistent dust.
