Bailey Hansen couldn’t help but whisper.
"What?!"
This wasn’t truly a question, but an exclamation of surprise.
"I found her." Kris Cooper’s tone was filled with joy, like a child who had found a beloved, long-lost toy. "Mom, I found her! I really have to thank you this ti... If you hadn’t forced to co back, I probably would never have t her again... Mom... Thank you!"
Kris Cooper, who had been independent for many years and always made his own decisions, sounded like a child at this mont.
He couldn’t show his elation at finding her again when he was with Vera; only now, with his mother, did he truly let his feelings pour out for the first ti.
"I... am so happy..."
On the other end of the phone, Bailey Hansen didn’t say anything. She just listened quietly to her son’s voice as he poured out his feelings.
For six years, he had never ntioned this matter to them.
This was the first ti he had ntioned the girl to his mother.
As the saying goes, a mother knows her child best. Bailey Hansen imdiately realized how important that girl was to him.
"...She is a good girl. You and Dad will definitely like her, I promise!"
On the other end of the phone, Bailey Hansen spoke again.
"I’m sorry, Kris, I can’t give you a hug right now. But, I want you to know, your dad and I are both very happy for you..." After taking a deep breath, she spoke gently, "Son, congratulations!"
Kris Cooper smiled. "Thank you, Mom."
"Why be so formal with ?" Bailey Hansen adjusted her breath. "Son, you two are in such a hurry to get married... It’s not because she’s pregnant, is it?"
Kris Cooper was taken aback, then began to laugh.
"No."
"Really, no?"
"Really no."
Bailey Hansen breathed a sigh of relief. "That’s a relief then. I’m swamped for the next few months, so I wouldn’t have ti to plan a wedding anyway!"
Recently, she and Christoper Cooper had been busy with the movie adaptation of their company’s ga. She was personally directing it, so the crew was filming all over the world, keeping her incredibly busy every day.
If his girl was pregnant and they had to arrange a wedding right now, she really would be too swamped.
"I thought you would be disappointed!" Kris Cooper teased.
"You little rascal!" Bailey Hansen playfully scolded. "Well, if you don’t want to be disappointed, you’d better get to work! By the way, son... have you two... you know?"
"’You know’ what?"
"Don’t play dumb with ! Are you an adult or not? What’s there to be embarrassed about?"
"Can we please not discuss this?"
"Enough of that! This is about continuing the Cooper family line... Don’t tell , after all this ti, you still haven’t managed to... get that young lady yet?"
"Don’t worry!" Kris Cooper lazily raised an arm to the floor-to-ceiling window and drew the word ’Vera’ on the glass. "Your son’s got it covered. Can you and Dad co back on Friday?"
"The weather has been bad these past few days, and several scenes we shot didn’t turn out well, so Friday might be tough."
"I originally planned to bring her to pick you all up. Since you can’t make it back, let’s just wait until you’re ho. You can’t bla this ti."
"You rascal!" Bailey Hansen playfully scolded. "Once I finish up here, we’ll head back imdiately. I’m dying to see... what’s so special about this little Vera that’s got my son head over heels!"
As soon as he heard ’little Vera,’ Kris Cooper knew his parents must have already looked into Vera Wave’s background.
"Seriously, can you please not invade my personal privacy?!"
