Kaiden Wilton took a deep breath and walked up to his office door, frowning. He stopped and turned to face everyone.
"I’m telling you all—" he warned, "don’t anyone dare spread rumors about this. Otherwise, don’t bla for getting nasty."
For their own CEO to arrange for his girlfriend to work in the desolate Support Departnt was indeed rather peculiar. In his years navigating the corporate world, Kaiden Wilton knew it required more than just luck to reach a position like Director—you needed ability and intelligence. This young master had unconventional moves from the start, so this arrangent might be part of so other plan. He had only just learned of this himself, which proved the young master was excellent at keeping secrets. This young master’s thods were always hard to predict. Kaiden Wilton was only worried that if word of this leaked and affected the young master’s plans, his own standing with him would plumt.
"Don’t worry, Sir, we understand!"
"Rest assured, we’ll act as if this never happened!"
...
His subordinates eagerly piped up their agreent.
Kaiden Wilton walked into his office to change. As soon as he disappeared, a small group huddled together, eagerly speculating about the young master’s ’girlfriend.’
"You know, now that I think about it, she does seem kind of familiar."
"Oh, co on, you say that about every pretty girl you see."
"Either way, we ought to treat the Support Departnt nicely from now on."
"Oh!" sighed Linda. "How lucky she is! If I had a boyfriend like that, I wouldn’t mind being transferred to the Support Departnt either!"
anwhile, Vera Wave, who had beco the hottest topic of gossip in the finance departnt, was completely oblivious.
She walked out of the finance office, carefully folded the money, stuffed it into her pocket, and hurriedly headed for the stairs to return to the Support Departnt.
She had just stepped into the ergency stairwell when Kris Cooper appeared, swiftly moving to block her path.
"What, you burn your bridges after crossing? Used and now you’re just leaving?"
Vera Wave rolled her eyes at him. "Don’t push your luck. Did you think I call just anyone ’honey’?"
Kris Cooper grinned, raising his right hand to block Vera Wave as she prepared to slip away. "So, it’s just ?"
Dream on!
"Besides you, there are maybe ten or eight others!"
She raised her hand to push his blocking arm away, but a throbbing pain shot through her hand as soon as it touched his arm. She reflexively pulled her hand back, shaking it in the air.
Sure, hitting him had been satisfying, but now her hand throbbed in protest.
"Does it hurt?" Kris Cooper caught her wrist. "Let see..."
He’s just looking for another excuse to get handsy, Vera Wave thought, snatching her hand back.
"I still have work. Move!"
Work at the Support Departnt?
ntioning this, Kris Cooper also felt puzzled.
"Weren’t you supposed to report to the Administration Departnt? How did you end up in the Support Departnt?"
"Don’t even get started!" Vera Wave stopped. "And here I thought your ’Assistant Chen’ was so big shot! It would’ve been better if I hadn’t ntioned him; I ended up being directly banished to the Support Departnt!"
Speaking of which, a thought suddenly struck her.
"Wait, what exactly is your position? How co even the director of the finance departnt shows you so much respect?"
Silly girl, finally realizing sothing’s not quite right?
Kris Cooper lifted his chin slightly, about to speak.
"I know!" Standing on the steps, Vera Wave shot him a knowing, teasing look. "That director is one of your ’clients’ too, right? Well, well, aren’t you a sly one. Making all these powerful ’friends’ seems to be quite your style, huh? Keep it up! If you manage to sleep with the young master of Skywalk, you’ll be able to swagger around Skywalk like you own the place!"
