Kris Cooper listened and cursed aloud, "A bunch of incompetents!"
Everyone endured the reprimand, too drained to retort, and continued to search for clues.
A Criminal Police officer noticed a cellphone placed next to a computer and imdiately picked it up wearing gloves.
"Whose cellphone is this?"
It was the latest model of an Apple phone, with a very feminine case.
The Pyrotechnician and the demolition expert, who were standing nearby, leaned in to look, both shaking their heads.
The Criminal Police officer pressed the power button. The cellphone screen lit up, revealing a young girl’s selfie. He frowned and imdiately held up the cellphone.
"Whose cellphone is this?!"
Everyone leaned in to look. Seeing they seed to have found a clue, Kris Cooper also walked over to look at the cellphone screen.
"Lucy Clark, isn’t that you?" the make-up artist asked.
Anabel Wilton, who had been standing to one side gossiping with a staff mber from the crew, imdiately turned her head upon hearing the question.
Seeing the cellphone in the Criminal Police officer’s hand, she imdiately smiled and walked over.
"It’s mine, it’s mine! I was looking for it for ages and couldn’t find it. Thanks so much!"
As she reached out to retrieve the cellphone, the Criminal Police officer pulled his hand back, leaving Anabel Wilton grasping at thin air.
"Hey... what do you think you’re doing? Are you ssing with ?!"
She was accustod to using harsh language and naturally didn’t think much of this young Criminal Police officer.
The young Criminal Police officer’s face darkened further. "How did your phone end up here?"
"How would I know?" Anabel Wilton shrugged. "I’m sorry, handso, my attitude wasn’t great just now. Can I have my phone back?"
"Stop being so flippant!" Another middle-aged Criminal Police officer stepped forward, took the cellphone with a gloved hand, and examined it from all sides. "This is your phone?"
"Isn’t that my picture on it? It’s definitely mine!" Anabel Wilton replied with a laugh.
The middle-aged Criminal Police officer’s gaze, carrying an air of authority, landed on her face. Under his stare, Anabel Wilton’s smile froze. "Hey... why... why are you looking at like that?"
"After such a major incident, with so many people injured, you find this amusing?" the middle-aged Criminal Police officer retorted.
"I..." Anabel Wilton was at a loss for words. "I... I was just laughing."
"Then explain, how did your cellphone end up here?"
"I..." Anabel Wilton furrowed her brow. "I don’t know either. I must have just put it down sowhere!"
The situation had been chaotic earlier, and she hadn’t realized the importance of this question, rely answering casually.
The middle-aged Criminal Police officer placed the cellphone into an evidence bag and gestured to her. "You... get in the car with !"
"Why... why should I get in the car?"
"No more nonsense!"
A female Criminal Police officer imdiately ca over and led Anabel Wilton to a secluded area under the crew’s tent for questioning. As Irene Spencer watched them lead her away, a cold light flickered in her eyes.
Kris Cooper stood to one side, leaning against a tree trunk. His sharp eyes swept over everyone present, finally landing on Irene Spencer. A mont later, he shook his head.
He’d known Irene Spencer for four or five years. He had first t her in the United States when she was just an insignificant figure, one of his many admirers.
Kris Cooper wouldn’t usually spare such a woman a second glance.
Later, he truly got to know her when she ca to work at his company.
She too was a Computer Major. When he found out she was working to pay her way through school and also ca from another country, Kris Cooper had ford a slight impression of her. In his mory, she was the kind of person who was very determined and worked extrely hard.
