Vera Wave wasn’t normally one to fuss over clothes, but this was not an ordinary dinner. The realization that the guests of honor were Kris Cooper’s parents made her heart race and her palms sweat.
Far away, she spotted a sumry dress on a mannequin in a shop window, and her eyes brightened imdiately.
"Honey, what do you think of that one?"
Kris Cooper looked up to see a delicate, pale blue dress on a model in a display window not far away.
The dress was simple, with expertly crafted details. Its color, reminiscent of a clear sky after rainfall, was particularly refreshing at first sight.
"Not bad."
"Let’s go take a closer look!"
With Kris’s agreent, Vera imdiately quickened her pace.
"Be careful!"
Kris chased after her, careful to shield her, concerned she might injure herself.
Entering the boutique, Vera imdiately pointed to the dress on the mannequin.
"Can I try that dress?"
"You have wonderful taste. This dress just arrived today. It’s a new release and the sa model available in France. Let get you a small size," the saleswoman praised Vera as she took a dress from the rack for her.
The dress was neither too formal nor too casual and was made of premium fabric.
Vera held the dress against herself in front of the mirror. The more she looked at it, the more she loved it. She turned towards Kris.
Just as she was about to ask Kris for his opinion, her attention was drawn to a few newcors at the entrance. Her eyebrows rose.
"Vera, Kris!" Irene Spencer saw the pair and paused, then greeted them warmly, "What a coincidence!"
"Miss Irene!" The saleswoman rushed to greet her. "Good timing, we’ve just received this season’s new arrivals!"
Irene Spencer glanced at the dress in Vera’s hand and walked over with a smile.
"This dress is nice. Do you have my size?"
Before the saleswoman could respond, Vera intervened.
"I’m afraid not!" She brandished the dress in her hand. "I am purchasing this dress in all available sizes. Sorry, Irene, I don’t like others wearing the sa dress as !"
What woman would want to wear the sa dress as another? Especially when that other was a potential mistress with an eye on her man.
"But... I really like it!" Irene Spencer laughed, deliberately trying to ingratiate herself with Vera. "Vera, we’re such good friends, can’t you spare one for ?"
Vera laughed too. "I wouldn’t mind if I didn’t like the item. But when it cos to sothing I have my eye on, I don’t make exceptions for anyone!"
Her words were not only about the dress but also a veiled warning to Irene Spencer to keep her distance from her man.
Irene Spencer remained placid, her gaze smoothly transitioning to Kris Cooper.
"Kris, your Vera is certainly rich and willful!"
Her casual remark was a subtle jab at Vera, implying her extravagance to Kris Cooper.
Kris Cooper raised his head casually.
"I spoil her. Is there a problem?"
Irene Spencer’s lips twitched slightly before she broke into another smile.
"Kris, your humor has gotten sharp."
"Saleswoman!" Kris Cooper did not bother looking at her again. He took the dress from Vera and passed it to the saleswoman. "Package all dresses of this design and prepare the bill imdiately."
"O...Okay!"
The saleswoman had encountered plenty of local tyrants who never asked the price before. However, this was the first ti she’d t soone who bought not just one dress, but all available sizes, effectively denying others a chance.
