Kris Cooper pulled out a chair, and Vera Wave helped Grandma Wave over, settling her into the seat.
"Nathan, you sit too!"
After Grandma Wave sat down, she imdiately warmly invited Nathan Leafcastle, who had followed them in.
"Alright." Nathan Leafcastle responded and stepped towards the table. Just as he reached the table edge, Kris Cooper had already co over, pulled out the chair Nathan was about to sit on, and sat down himself.
The table was for four, with two seats facing each other.
Grandma Wave and Vera sat together. Since Vera had to take care of Grandma, Nathan couldn’t compete for that seat, so he quickly took the seat opposite Vera.
Noting this childish behavior from Kris, Vera just smiled to herself and raised her hand to gesture to Nathan Leafcastle.
"Brother Nathan, please sit!"
Given Kris Cooper’s personality, agreeing to let her bring Grandma and Nathan to dinner was already a big concession, and she shouldn’t push him further.
Nathan Leafcastle nodded, pulled out the chair next to Kris, and sat down.
Once everyone was seated, the waiter brought over the nus for all four to order.
"Brother Nathan, you order!"
Vera handed the nu over to Nathan Leafcastle eagerly.
Nathan Leafcastle politely exchanged a few words and accepted the nu. "How about so shrimp? I rember you like shrimp..."
Before Vera could speak, Kris Cooper had already said, "Her injury hasn’t healed, she can’t have shrimp."
"Then..." Nathan Leafcastle flipped another couple of pages, "How about so tofu?"
Kris Cooper chid in again, "Her stomach isn’t well, tofu is hard to digest."
Childish!
"Ahem!" Vera coughed lightly and shot Kris Cooper a look. "It’s fine, let’s just get the tofu, you guys can eat it."
Receiving her signal, Kris Cooper refrained from further comnting on Nathan’s choices.
Nathan Leafcastle, however, was already so discouraged by Kris’s antics that he lost interest in ordering and handed the nu to Vera, which allowed the ordering to proceed.
When Vera handed the nu back to the waiter, she visibly breathed a sigh of relief.
Seeing her reaction, Kris Cooper pursed his lips and offered her an apologetic smile.
He had reminded himself ti and again just to treat Nathan like air and not make things difficult for Vera, but seeing him made it hard for him not to want to challenge him.
"Kris..." Grandma Wave spoke up with a smile, "Why didn’t your parents co along?"
Vera looked at Nathan Leafcastle apologetically, "Brother Nathan, I’m sorry, it’s just grandma, she..."
"It’s fine." Nathan Leafcastle smiled at her and then spoke to Grandma Wave. "Grandma, my parents are busy and don’t have the ti, but I can keep you company today, okay?"
"Okay!" Grandma Wave smiled warmly, "This child, you’ve always been so good, Grandma likes you the most."
"Grandma, does that an you don’t like ?"
"How could I not like you!" Grandma Wave turned her head and smiled at Kris Cooper, "By the way, Kris, you haven’t t yet, have you? This is Kris, Vera’s boyfriend. Let tell you, Vera is about to get married, and you must co to the wedding."
Vera raised her eyebrows at Kris Cooper, who responded with a smug, smiling expression.
Spending ti with Grandma, he had already "brainwashed" her to not only recognize him but also treat him as Vera’s boyfriend.
"Is that so?" Nathan Leafcastle’s gaze shifted to Vera, "Is what Grandma said... true?"
