On the other end of the phone, Tommy Taylor agreed, but didn’t hang up the call.
"Sir, that doctor just called. He said they found Miss Vera’s treatnt records."
"Oh?" Kris Cooper was imdiately intrigued. "Any new discoveries?"
"There’s nothing unusual in the record. However, it shows that Miss Vera had been prescribed Fluoxetine."
Kris Cooper, knowing little about dicines, imdiately asked, "What disease is that dication for?"
"It is... for depression!"
Depression?!
Kris Cooper turned his head towards the direction of the bedroom.
"Is there anything else?"
"There are also so tranquilizers, all drugs suited for ntal disorders."
"Alright, I got it."
He casually dropped his cell phone onto the coffee table, his brow furrowing slightly.
A strange noise ca from the bedroom.
He swiftly walked over and pushed open the door.
The alcohol made her feel feverish, and she had instinctively stripped off her clothing. Her shirt and skirt were strewn all over the floor.
When Kris Cooper opened the door, the young girl was clumsily wrestling with her bra, her eyes closed.
Seeing her bra strap slip, he quickly pulled the door shut again, a dull thump echoing in his head.
Vera discarded her clothes casually, flung herself back onto the pillow, and continued sleeping.
Still sowhat uneasy, Kris Cooper pushed open the bedroom door again. Sure enough, she wasn’t covered by her blanket. She was half-sprawled on the bed, hugging a pillow with one leg perched on top of it.
The sight caused his blood to rush.
Lowering his gaze, he advanced, picked up the thin blanket from the floor, and gently covered her body. Concerned she might be too hot, he considerately left one arm and a lower leg exposed.
The young girl was sleeping deeply by now, showing no response.
His gaze fell upon her slightly flushed face. Kris Cooper reached out his hand and gently brushed her ssy hair aside.
As he watched her sleep, he couldn’t resist leaning in and placing a gentle kiss on her shoulder.
Sitting beside her, he stared at her sleeping profile, lost in thought.
Vera in his mory was just as optimistic and cheerful as she was now. How could she suddenly develop depression?!
Outside the window, the sun was setting. Twilight crept in, followed by the warming spring night.
In the distance, the sharp, prolonged cries of a cat could be heard. In this warm season, these usually adorable creatures also began to show their primal restlessness.
Vera, asleep on the pillow, stirred. She got out of bed, rubbed her eyes, yawned, and prepared to go to the bathroom.
She threw back the covers, sat up, and dangled her feet over the side of the bed, searching for her slippers. They weren’t where she expected them to be.

She reached out, fumbled for the switch on the bedside lamp, and turned it on.
As the light illuminated the room, she took in her surroundings.
She opened her eyes in confusion. Her gaze swept over her bare feet dangling in mid-air, then fell upon a beautiful blue carpet below her.
A carpet?!
When did a carpet appear beside my bed at ho?

The last vestiges of sleepiness vanished in an instant. Vera quickly scanned the room.
The room was decently sized. A tasteful abstract oil painting hung on a clean wall.
There was a white wardrobe, a bedside table, and a lamp. Everything was brand new, and nothing looked familiar.
Vera’s eyes swept across the entire room before returning to herself.
