This ti, turning a weapon into a gift only deepened the Chapman Family’s loyalty toward him.
Upon understanding his intent, Ria Chapman chuckled.
"Alright, I’ll count on you then, Sister-in-law!"
Vera Wave blushed and teased, "I thought you said you’d stop riding horses?"
"Can I still ride horses, though?" Ria Chapman asked, glancing at her mother.
Ria’s mother raised an eyebrow. "Let’s get one thing straight: you can only ride with Vera. If you dare to go on your own, I’ll break your leg first!"
Ria Chapman pouted. Beside her, Craig Chapman chuckled. "Then let Vera rest first. You should also go back and recover properly."
With that, the family of three said their goodbyes and left. Kris Cooper sat down beside Vera Wave again. "Ria is straightforward," he remarked. "She’s likely co to respect you after this. You can spend more ti with her in the future."
Vera Wave nodded.
Just then, the sound of footsteps ca from outside. A mont later, Christopher Cooper and Bailey Hansen rushed in one after the other, their faces etched with urgency. Christopher Cooper was in a suit and tie, while Bailey Hansen wore an evening gown, still in her high heels. They had a date that night and had rushed over from a formal dinner party.
"Dad, Mom... why are you here?"
"You little devil, you have the nerve to ask! We had to hear about this major incident from soone else!" Bailey Hansen huffed, pushing him away before hurrying to Vera’s bedside. "Vera, tell Auntie, where are you injured?"
"It’s nothing, Uncle, Aunt. Don’t worry. I just hurt my hand a little."
"That’s good. You really scared !" Bailey Hansen sighed in relief. She sat by Vera’s side, but her expression tensed again as she looked at Vera’s bandaged hand. Turning to Kris Cooper, she scolded, "Of all things, why did you have to take her horse riding? It’s so dangerous!"
Bailey Hansen has always been warm-hearted. She’d taken a liking to Vera after their first eting. Furthermore, Vera was her son’s sweetheart. That, combined with the fact that Vera was an orphan, made Bailey especially fond of the girl; love for the son extended to who he loved. As soon as she heard about Vera’s accident, she and her husband, Christopher Cooper, had rushed over.
"Aunt, it’s not Kris’s fault... I was the one who wanted to ride."
"You’re just protecting him!" Bailey Hansen glared at her son, then her gaze softened as it returned to Vera. "As long as you’re okay. But you must be more careful in the future."
At this ti, Christopher Cooper also approached Vera’s bedside. His wife had already said everything necessary, so he didn’t ask any further questions. Seeing that the girl wasn’t seriously injured, he also inwardly sighed in relief.
"It’s so late. Have you eaten yet? We ca in such a hurry we didn’t get a chance to bring anything. What would you like to eat? Uncle will go buy it for you."
The couple’s genuine concern deeply moved Vera.
"There’s no need to go to any trouble. I can just eat sothing simple."
"I’ll go!" Tommy Taylor volunteered.
After Tommy Taylor left the ward to buy Vera so dinner, Bailey Hansen sighed again.
"This is all my fault. If I had arranged for us to have dinner together today, none of this would have happened."
Vera felt even more embarrassed. "Aunt, please don’t say that. It’s clearly my fault."
"Nonsense." Bailey Hansen smiled fondly at her. "Listen here, a woman is never wrong. If there is a mistake, it’s always the man’s fault! Isn’t that right, Christopher?"
A certain soone eagerly agreed. "Yes, my wife is absolutely correct!"
