The two assistants looked at each other, both dumbfounded. Irene Spencer observed their expressions and asked in confusion, "What happened?"
"Ashton’s Advertising Departnt just called to inform us...the contract is over," one assistant answered quietly.
The other assistant hesitated a mont before saying softly, "Windmill Ga also notified us that they are not renewing the contract, and...they said the internal account they previously provided for you has been automatically retrieved."
Despite Irene Spencer’s excellent tolerance, she was on the verge of a breakdown at this point.
Slamming the sunglasses she’d been holding hard against the elevator door, making a sharp SMACK, she gritted her teeth and roared, "Just two jobs? You really underestimate , Irene Spencer! I’m telling you, Vera Wave, I, Irene Spencer, will never lose to you!"
It was the first ti the two assistants had seen her lose her temper so drastically, and they froze, not daring to breathe too loudly.
The elevator reached the first floor, and Irene strode over her sunglasses on the floor, exiting the elevator.
The two assistants quickly followed, one carrying her bag and the other holding an umbrella to shield her from the sun.
No sooner had the three of them stepped out of the Ashton Building than a group of reporters sward from the opposite side.
"Miss Spencer, are you aware of Mr. Cooper’s marriage to Miss Vera?"
"You had a conflict with Miss Wave before. Are you here to congratulate her or apologize this ti?"
"Rumor has it your contract with Ashton is about to expire. Will you renew it?"
"Many people consider Miss Wave’s performance in "Fla" to vastly surpass yours. What’s your opinion?!"
The journalists were wary of the Cooper family and dared not push Vera Wave too hard, but all bets were off when it ca to Irene Spencer.
The situation between them was escalating.
After Vera’s old identity surfaced, people realized she was not just so unknown, but in fact the daughter of a high-standing family.
Ashton had been actively guiding public opinion in Vera’s favor.
In an interview two days ago, Bailey Hansen showered praises on Vera, her future daughter-in-law. She described her as "an angel who had risen from the mud by her own efforts, and a darling of our family." Bailey also subtly hinted that "Kris Cooper has known Vera for many years."
That naturally debunked Irene’s forr argunt that Vera was a latecor who had unfairly surpassed others.
What is the dia?
In Christoper Cooper’s words, "The dia is a sword. Wield it poorly, and you’ll wound yourself badly; wield it well, and it’s your weapon."
These efforts, combined with so leaks from the film crew, easily crafted a positive image for Vera.
Soon after, Kris Cooper announced their wedding in a high-profile manner, which was undoubtedly a huge slap in the face to Irene Spencer.
Now, Irene Spencer’s image had turned into that of a mistress trying to ddle in and destroy a loving relationship, with her support rate continuously plumting.
Consequently, even dia outlets that used to show her so deference had long stopped being particularly polite towards her.
Irene was already furious and in no mood to maintain her façade of sweet innocence. She roughly pushed aside the reporter in front of her and dashed out of the crowd.
