Bailey Hansen spoke up to this point, then suddenly stopped. "Wait, Vera, you and Kris Cooper are already legally married, so why do you still call ’Aunt’?"
Vera blushed slightly. "I... I’m just used to calling you that."
"They aren’t officially married yet, so calling us Uncle and Aunt is fine for now." Christopher Cooper’s tone was gentle. "Your aunt is like a water pipe—she’s a straight shooter, always speaking her mind. If she ever says or does sothing wrong, don’t take it to heart."
Bailey Hansen instantly glared back. "What are you saying? If I’m like a water pipe, then what are you?"
Christopher Cooper shrugged. "Well, I’m obviously a plumber—I fix the pipes!"
Vera burst out laughing.
"You’re so funny. Actually, I like Auntie’s... I an, my mom’s personality."
With just one sentence, she easily made the switch. Though a little embarrassed, it didn’t feel awkward at all.
"This girl, she actually switched!" Bailey Hansen quickly put down the grilled at she was holding and nudged Christopher Cooper’s arm with her elbow. "Quick, get it out!"
"Get what out?"
"The red envelope, of course! I didn’t bring any money!"
Christopher Cooper took out his wallet, flipped through it, and handed Vera a Wealth Managent Card.
"Oh, no... I can’t accept this!" Vera hurriedly waved her hands. Looking at Christopher Cooper’s wallet, she smiled and said, "Just a cash bill as a token would be more than enough, right?"
Before Christopher Cooper could reply, she had already reached out and pulled a hundred-dollar bill from his wallet.
"This carries good luck! It stands for... a hundred blessings and your every wish fulfilled! Thank you, Mom and Dad!"
Christopher Cooper and Bailey Hansen weren’t the type to be overly formal or fussy. They didn’t stand on ceremony with her, and the group continued eating.
The al stretched late into the night. Afterward, the two n left with the two foodies, whose little stomachs were perfectly round and content.
The family driver arrived with their car. Kris Cooper had Christopher Cooper and Bailey Hansen leave first. "I’ve already inford our driver. He should be here soon. I’ll take Vera for a walk first, so you two can head back."
The couple got into the car and drove off. Vera stood by the roadside, watching until the car disappeared into the distance. Then, she smiled and said, "Your mom and dad are really nice."
Her mother had passed away when she was young, so she didn’t have many mories of her. Her father was always busy with work, and her grandmother had mostly raised her. Consequently, her own family rarely had lively als filled with laughter, like Kris Cooper’s did.
Christopher Cooper and his wife—one straightforward and enthusiastic, the other humorous and witty—showed none of the airs typically associated with parents from a wealthy family. They showered her with affection, and Vera naturally felt a warmth and closeness to them.
"Those are *our* parents now!" Kris Cooper said, helping her adjust his jacket on her shoulders. "My mom’s just like that, and my dad is pretty easygoing too. When you’re with them in the future, you don’t need to be overly formal; just treat them as your own mom and dad... They’ve always wanted a daughter. It’s just that Dad felt so bad for Mom because she went through so much pain when I was born. Now, their wish has finally co true."
Vera gently squeezed his fingers in return, murmuring softly in agreent.
"By the way, Hubby... do you prefer a boy or a girl?"
"Whatever you give birth to, I’ll love it."
"And what if I don’t want to give birth?"
"Then we can adopt. If you don’t want to raise a child either, then we’ll be DINKs."
His tone was light, seemingly unconcerned.
Vera’s brow furrowed slightly as she turned to him. "Honey, is it that you don’t like children?"
Kris Cooper turned to et her gaze, a smile playing on his lips as he began to speak.
