When leaving the law office of Sophia Thompson, Vera Wave walked with heavy steps.
Getting into the car, starting it, she drove onto the road, and at the intersection, instead of turning left, she went straight back to the old house.
Now, she truly feared facing Bailey Hansen and Christoper Cooper. The better they treated her, the more sorrowful she felt.
She made a phone call back, asking Sister Zhang to tell Bailey Hansen that she would co ho to see Grandma Wave tonight. Vera hung up, quietly used her key to open the door without disturbing anyone.
Looking at everything familiar, thinking of the beautiful tis she spent here with her father as a child, her heart ached dully once again.
She thought Grandma would already be resting, but as soon as she entered the courtyard, she saw a person sitting on the wooden bench of the corridor, the light shining on her gray hair—it was Grandma Wave.
"Grandma, why aren’t you asleep yet?"
"I’m not sleepy. Worried your dad might forget his key, I ca out to wait for him." Grandma Wave’s face was full of kindness, "Go on, Kendrick prepared so soup for you in the kitchen, help yourself to a bowl."
"Grandma, I’m not hungry." Vera Wave stepped forward, "Co on, Dad can’t make it ho today, I’ll take you back to rest."
"Why can’t he co ho again?" Grandma Wave furrowed her brow, "It feels like I haven’t seen Walter Wave for ages!"
"No, didn’t Dad just leave a few days ago? He’s... he’s on a business trip in Arica, did you forget?"
"Ah!" Grandma Wave sighed, "I’m old; I truly forgot."
She helped the old lady into the backyard, and Sister Li ca out to greet them.
"No matter how I tried to persuade her, she insisted on waiting for Mr. Wave."
"Thank you."
Vera Wave helped Grandma Wave into her room and, together with Sister Li, settled her in bed. Only after Grandma Wave fell asleep did Vera quietly exit the room.
Sister Li followed her out, "Miss Wave, these days the old lady keeps ntioning Mr. Wave, looking through old photos every day and barely eats. If you have the ti, take her out for a change of scenery?!"
"Alright." Vera Wave nodded, "You go get so rest!"
Sister Li returned to her room to rest, while Vera Wave went to the backyard and sat under the wisteria tree.
In a daze, she saw herself as a child with her father once more.
Back then, she was just a little girl, and her father appeared so tall.
"Dad, what’s this?"
"This is a wisteria, the sa kind of flower you saw in Japan when I took you there. Didn’t you say you liked it? I’ll plant one for you too, and by next spring, it will bloom!"

Vera Wave sat in the courtyard the entire night.
In the early morning, she left the old house, driving her car out of the alley, wandering aimlessly in the streets. When the car finally stopped, she realized she had sohow arrived below the Glimr Building.
Kris Cooper hadn’t co to the company for several days, and she was unsure about the situation here.
Pressing her lips together, she drove into the underground parking lot and took the elevator upstairs.
As it was still early, nowhere near office hours, the company was quite quiet. When she reached the upper floor, only two cleaners were working.
"Did you hear about the boss’s situation?"
