He reached out, pulled her into his arms, and his hand gently stroked her hair.

"Of course."
"You said before that no matter what I do, you’ll forgive . Does it still count?"
"Of course."
"I love you too." She tightened her embrace. "Even more than you can imagine."
Only when a staff mber ca in to hurry her did she reluctantly get up from his arms. Watching Kris Cooper walk to the door, she kept a smile on her face. Yet, her fingers resting on the table had turned pale from clutching its edge so tightly.
After leaving the detention center, Vera didn’t go ho. Instead, she drove straight to the City Bureau. She didn’t go to see Lucille; she went directly to Deputy Chief Michael Freenan’s office.
"Miss Wave?!" Michael Freenan was discussing Kris Cooper’s case with a few subordinates. Seeing her, he imdiately stood up and ushered her in. "Alright, let’s pause here for now. The rest of you, go on with your work!"
A few subordinates packed up their materials and left. Michael Freenan invited Vera to sit at the table and poured her a glass of water.
"Miss Wave, is there anything I can do for you?"
Vera picked up the cup from the table and took a sip.
"I’ve co... to tell you the truth."
"The truth?!" Michael Freenan looked at her in confusion. "You an?"
"The real murderer."
"Who is it?"
Vera put down the cup in her hand and sat up straight on the sofa.
"!"
Even the usually composed Michael Freenan was stunned. It was a good mont before he reacted.
"Miss Wave... what on earth do you an?!"
