"I don’t want to hear anymore."
"Not listening anymore, eh? Then let’s do sothing else."
He bent down, kissing and nibbling her neck.
She shrank back. "Honey, just tell , how did you find ?"
He leaned his face toward her. She smiled and kissed him on the lips.
He gently fingered her necklace. "Rember that app I installed on your phone? The bracelet I gave you has a small zinc chip inside that can emit a signal. That way, your phone can sense its distance from you. I wrote a program to track your signal, so I always know where you are."
"Then why did you bother knocking on door after door?"
"You little fool!" Kris Cooper pinched her ear. "Tracking the bracelet takes ti. Knocking on doors is faster."
To find her, he would first have to break through the satellite’s firewall to utilize its resources, and then pinpoint her location. All of that would take ti. Kate Palr had her current address, so why would he go to all that trouble?
"Your ti in prison... was it really hard to bear?"
"It was okay. I mostly just daydread and slept. It was quite nice, actually. Haven’t you noticed my skin has gotten fairer from being cooped up?"
He pinched her little cheek, his brow furrowing with concern.
"Silly girl."
She closed her eyes, resting her head on his shoulder.
"Honey, I’m a little sleepy."
He stood up, carried her to the bed, and lay down beside her. She imdiately snuggled closer, hugging one of his arms just as she always did.
"OUCH!"
He cried out in surprise.
"What’s wrong?"
"You’re digging into !"
She gave him a playful punch, then hugged his arm even tighter, smiling as she closed her eyes.
A mont later, she truly fell asleep.
She was indeed exhausted; partly because she hadn’t slept well these past few days, and partly because she was pregnant and had just eaten.
Listening to her breathing gradually soften, he reached over, gently drew her into his embrace, and buried his face in her hair, closing his eyes.
She hadn’t been sleeping well. Had he been any different?
These past few days, with her not by his side, he had been working extrely hard, pulling all sorts of strings, all to get her out of jail sooner.
Now that she was finally back in his arms, he too could at last sleep soundly.
The two of them slept until dusk before waking.
Vera Wave got up to wash her face. Kris Cooper went out to the balcony, took down his clothes, and put them on.
When she ca out after freshening up, Vera Wave couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight of Kris Cooper buttoning his shirt.
The linen pants looked alright.
The shirt, however, due to its silk content, had clearly shrunk. Not only were the sleeves shorter, but the body was also much tighter. What had been a slightly loose shirt was now practically skin-tight. The wrinkles, in particular, made it look rather ridiculous.
She reached out, trying to smooth the wrinkles on his shirt. "Anyone who didn’t know better would think you stole this shirt from sowhere!"
He smirked. "Still better than soone I know who deliberately buys a size too small!"
Her face flushed. "I... I just didn’t know what size you wore."
"It’s alright." He smiled dotingly at her. "As long as you’re the one buying, I’d wear it even if it were children’s clothes!"
"You said it. I’ll go buy children’s clothes tomorrow then."
"I ant for our son to wear."
"And what if it’s a girl?"
"Then they’ll be for our daughter. As long as they’re yours, I’ll love them."
"Aren’t you afraid... it might not be your baby?"
He swatted her playfully on her bottom.
"Keep talking nonsense like that, and I’ll ’discipline’ you right here and now!"
