"You think being two minutes late isn’t considered tardiness?" Emily Baker let out a cold snort. "What do you think this place is? This is Glimr, the largest gaming company in Nicosa. Do you know why we’re strong? Because we value efficiency."
Vera Wave inhaled lightly and looked up.
"Director Baker, didn’t you just arrive too?"
She had admitted to her lateness, but what right did this woman, who had also just stepped out of the elevator, have to lecture her?
Years of being the pampered young miss had naturally instilled a deep-seated pride in her. When ridiculed so blatantly, her sharp spirit couldn’t help but surface.
Emily Baker didn’t expect this chit of a girl to dare talk back. Her face flushed, and her tone grew even harsher.
"You think I’m like you, doing nothing all day, arriving late and leaving early? With your work attitude, you don’t fit Glimr’s culture..."
Her voice instantly attracted the attention of many staff mbers in the Administration Departnt. Everyone watched the drama unfold from the sidelines as Bella Hawskin saw Vera and hurried over.
"Director Baker, why are you so upset? Vera, quickly apologize to Director Baker."
Vera knew this job hadn’t co easily, so she imdiately suppressed her defiance and put on an obedient expression.
"Director Baker, I’m sorry."
"Hmph!" Emily Baker snorted. "Don’t let it happen again!"
"Director, why bother with a newbie? Oh, right, I have a docunt here that needs your signature!"
Bella Hawskin pulled Emily Baker towards the office, quietly waving at Vera Wave over her shoulder.
Vera Wave breathed a sigh of relief and hurried to the Logistics Departnt. Yola Dowry wasn’t in, so only Ms. Song was there, answering the phone.
"Ms. Song, I’m sorry about yesterday afternoon; I had sothing urgent co up."
"No problem." Ms. Song smiled at her warmly. "I’m going to deliver sothing. Could you watch the phone?"
Unlike the Administration Departnt, there was no ti for leisurely gossip here; it was busy from the mont you walked in.
"Alright, thank you," Vera Wave said with a grateful smile.
After Ms. Song left with the items, the phone rang. Vera Wave quickly picked up the receiver and threw herself into her work.
"A ream of printing paper, yes... We’ll send it over right away!"

「Upstairs.」
Kris Cooper handed the signed docunt to Tommy Taylor and then looked up.
"What about the matter I asked you to investigate?"
Tommy Taylor pulled two files from the docunts he was holding and placed them on Kris Cooper’s desk. "This one contains all of Miss Vera’s academic records, including transcripts and her design portfolio. The other is Harry Snowpine’s personal file."
Kris Cooper reached for Vera Wave’s file. Just then, his desk phone rang. Tommy Taylor pressed the intercom button.
The voice on the line was the receptionist from the CEO Office. "Mr. Cooper, a Mr. Davis wishes to see you."
"Dion Davis?" Tommy Taylor asked.
"That’s correct."
Kris Cooper uttered three words without looking up.
"Tell him to get lost."
Tommy Taylor imdiately picked up the receiver. "Tell him directly that Mr. Cooper said, ’Get lost!’"
On the other end of the line, Dion Davis watched the receptionist hang up, his face full of anticipation.
"Um... What did Mr. Cooper say?"
The receptionist pursed her lips. "He said... ’Get lost!’"
Dion Davis’s face instantly turned ashen.
