She was still pondering when a call from Kris Cooper ca in.
"Darling, what would you like to eat for lunch?"
"I’m still on the road; it will take about half an hour to get there." Vera glanced at her wristwatch. "If you’re finished with work, let’s et at the restaurant near the office to save you so ti."
"Alright, then. I’ll wait for you. Be careful on the road."
Once her car was back in the city, Vera arrived at the restaurant they had agreed on. Kris Cooper had already ordered and was waiting for her. He ca over to greet her as soon as he saw her.
"Your first day back at work, and you were already out running errands?"
"I..." Vera pursed her lips, sat down, and finally decided to tell him the truth. "I made a trip to the prison."
"What for?"
"I visited Anabel Wilton."
"Anabel Wilton?" Kris Cooper furrowed his brows. "And why would you do that?"
Vera didn’t try to hide anything and simply told him the whole story. Misunderstandings had arisen between them before because they kept secrets from each other. This ti, she had learned her lesson and chose not to hide this from him.
Kris Cooper’s long eyebrows furrowed, and a serious expression appeared on his face.
"So you’re saying the actual perpetrator behind that explosion was Irene Spencer?"
"Don’t jump to conclusions!" Vera quickly interjected. "Nothing’s confird yet. With sothing this big, you can’t be impulsive. It’s also possible Anabel is just lying. Let’s investigate thoroughly before deciding anything."
Just then, the food was brought to the table. Kris Cooper placed so food into her bowl, then paused thoughtfully for a mont.
"I’ll look into this matter thoroughly. For now, just eat well. You’re the one our family needs to protect the most right now, so you absolutely have to eat more!"
This matter was of great importance, and Kris Cooper knew it couldn’t be confird casually.
"You should eat too!" Vera served him a shrimp. "You’re the pillar of our family; you need to eat more too!"
He smiled at her, then picked up his bowl and began to eat seriously.

"That’s right." Nathan raised his hand, and his assistant standing behind him imdiately handed over a file. He passed the file to Irene. "These are the project details. Miss Spencer, please take a careful look."
Irene glanced across the table at the man opposite her. Nathan’s expression was calm and unreadable, revealing little emotion.
This situation seed a bit different from how she had imagined their eting would be.
Irene had always paid close attention to Vera, so of course, she knew about her past with Nathan. She had initially thought Nathan sought her out because of sothing related to Vera.
With a hint of puzzlent, she opened the file in her hands.
The first half of the file was an introduction to the project, and the second half was a collaboration agreent. It clearly stated her remuneration would be 8,000,000 yuan. Considering her current popularity, this was by no ans a low offer.
