Prison.
Irene Spencer sat on one side, and the lawyer, Mr. Zhang, sat on the other.
"What did he say?"
Mr. Zhang shook his head, then took out a docunt from his briefcase and handed it over.
Reaching out to hold the docunt, Irene Spencer glanced down at the cover page. It was clearly marked in black letters on a white background — Notice.
Irene Spencer raised an eyebrow, opened the docunt in her hand, and after just a glance, threw it back onto the table.
"Nathan Leafcastle, you are ruthless!"
The docunt was a legal notice from the Barker Group, informing her to imdiately compensate the Barker Group, otherwise "Barker does not rule out the possibility of taking legal action." The implication was clear that if she didn’t pay, Barker would sue her.
Mr. Zhang was silent for a mont at the table before speaking deeply.
"The current situation is very unfavorable for you. First, the evidence regarding the drug issue is conclusive, making it very difficult to shirk responsibility. However, if you can prove you are a first-ti user, this issue is relatively easier." The lawyer looked at her across the table, "Do you understand what I an?"
Irene Spencer nodded.
"What could be the consequences?"
With a staff mber watching nearby, they had to be cautious with their words, and the lawyer’s intention was clear — to have her insist it was her first ti.
"There might be a fine, at worst, Public Security Detention, given that you had the tendency to harm others at the ti." The lawyer mused slightly, "At most, two weeks! However... your case is a bit complicated, as you know, Kris Cooper’s report involves not just this charge, but also... others. Including inciting public disorder and... murder!"
Irene Spencer imdiately said, "He’s just lying, I didn’t do it."
The previous case had already been concluded, and it had been such a long ti since. There was no evidence or witnesses; she didn’t believe Kris Cooper could overturn the case.
Compared to other matters, this case was the most severe, so she would never admit it, even if it would kill her.
"That’s what you say, but according to legal procedures, if there’s evidence or witnesses, they have the right to detain you." Mr. Zhang shrugged, "The ti involved then would be uncertain."
Irene Spencer gritted her teeth silently.
Opposite, Mr. Zhang contemplated before speaking again.
"Is there anything else you need to entrust?"
He had already seen the previous note and, though unaware of the full story, could guess so inner details. His question was ant to discreetly ask Irene Spencer.
Irene Spencer raised her hands to support her forehead, having already thought it over carefully before.
Regarding the collaboration with Nathan Leafcastle, she had almost no evidence.
They were partners; as long as the other party used the guise of work discussions, it could easily cover up their etings, and as for the money Nathan Leafcastle had given her, he certainly used confidential foreign accounts that the police would never trace.
Moreover, even if they could trace it, she couldn’t prove it had anything to do with Nathan Leafcastle.
Previously, Irene Spencer thought she had the upper hand, but now it seed she had underestimated the man.
From initially seeking her cooperation to everything that followed... she had actually been under his control all along.
That man, originally she thought, was even more insidious and despicable.
After a long while, she finally lifted her face.
"Mr. Zhang, is there a way to get out first?"
Mr. Zhang sighed helplessly and shook his head.
