"Alright, I’ll give him one more chance. If he stops now, I won’t hold it against him!"
Vera Wave felt relieved and smiled, imdiately turning to give him a loud kiss on the cheek.
"Thank you, darling!"
Wrapping her in a hug, Kris Cooper lightly curled his lips.
"As long as you’re happy."

The next afternoon, Kris Cooper dropped Vera Wave off at the Barker Group building, then personally got out of the car to open the door for her.
"I’ll wait for you in the car. If anything happens, call imdiately."
Vera nodded and gave him a reassuring smile, then walked up the steps.
"Vera!" Kris Cooper hurried a few steps to catch up with her, ran to her side, tidied her hair, then reminded her once more, "Be careful. I know you and he were childhood friends, but rember, people can change."
She nodded seriously, "Don’t worry, I’ll protect myself and the little one."
Kris Cooper raised his eyebrows, still uneasy, and imdiately reached out to hold her hand.
"Let’s go, I’ll go with you!"
Originally, he didn’t want to deal with Nathan Leafcastle, letting Vera et him at the company was just a precaution. With so many people at the company, Nathan Leafcastle wouldn’t dare act out with her. But now, he was still uneasy.
Vera understood his temperant and didn’t refuse his suggestion. The two of them walked hand in hand up the steps and into the Barker Building.
They didn’t need to give their nas; the reception already recognized them and quickly called the CEO Office, but the reply was that Nathan Leafcastle wasn’t in the office.
Feeling helpless, Vera took out her phone and dialed his number.
The call connected after a mont, Nathan Leafcastle’s voice sounded low in the receiver.
"I’m at the cetery; today’s my mom’s birthday, so I’m here to be with her."
Hearing the word "cetery," Vera’s heart tightened.
"I’m sorry, I didn’t know."
"It’s okay. Did you need sothing?"
"I..." Vera pressed her lips together, "Nothing... just calling to say hello. You carry on, we can talk another day."
Lowering her right hand to hang up the phone, she bit her lip.
"Kris, am I being a bit cruel?"
Liliana Davis was just buried, and she’s about to tell Nathan Leafcastle that the person who caused Walter Wave’s bankruptcy was his mother, Liliana Davis. Can he handle it?!
Kris Cooper shrugged noncommittally. To him, it was Liliana Davis causing Walter Wave’s bankruptcy that was cruel.
Sally Dalton bead with surprise as she ascended the steps and joined them, "Vera, Kris... what brings you here?"
"Sister Sally." Vera turned her face, "We... we ca to see Brother Nathan. He’s not here, so we’re about to leave."
"He’s... he’s at the cetery, I just rushed back from there because sothing urgent ca up here." Sally Dalton held Vera’s arm, "The two of you coming together must an sothing. Since you’re here, why don’t you co in and sit for a while?"
"Well..." Vera pondered for a mont, then took out a prepared USB drive from her bag, "Actually, I ca to give sothing to Brother Nathan. Could you pass it to him, please?"
Nathan Leafcastle must still be suspecting his mother’s death and harboring resentnt toward Kris Cooper. Only by telling him the truth can his thoughts of revenge be stopped. Vera decided to reveal the truth to him to prevent further conflict between him and Kris Cooper.
Noticing their determination to leave, Sally Dalton didn’t insist on keeping them and personally escorted them down the steps. Watching their car drive away, she turned and clutched the USB drive, walking into the Barker Building.
While taking the elevator upstairs, she raised her hand to look at the USB drive in her hand.
What could be in the USB drive personally delivered by Vera Wave?!
