He suddenly felt a bit of regret. Even if it was to get back at Kris Cooper, why did he have to take risks with Barker? If anything went wrong, Barker would be affected too.
He was truly damned!
The more he thought about it, the more annoyed he beca. Nathan Leafcastle’s mood grew increasingly irritable.
"Nathan, is there sothing on your mind?"
Sally Dalton’s inquiry didn’t calm him down. Nathan Leafcastle took a deep breath and stood up from the sofa.
"I just rembered that there’s an email I haven’t replied to yet. I’ll go do that first."
The man quickly left and hurried upstairs.
Such an obvious excuse, of course, Sally Dalton could tell.
Standing up and watching his back, Sally Dalton opened her mouth, wanting to call out to him but did not speak in the end.
She knew Nathan Leafcastle; this man wasn’t fond of talking much. If he didn’t want to talk about sothing, pressing him further was aningless.
But what exactly was bothering him so much?!
Crossing her arms, she paced back and forth a few steps, worrying about him. She turned to the staircase, only to stop again.
Thinking it over, she turned around before entering the servant room and knocked to call out the maid, asking her to prepare a snack for Nathan Leafcastle.
He hadn’t eaten much at dinner. Maybe she should send sothing up and then find a way to talk to him.
A lot had happened during this period, and Sally Dalton was very worried about his ntal state.
The maid responded and went into the kitchen. Sally followed and, upon slling the kitchen’s aroma, her stomach churned. She rushed to the bathroom, dry heaving but not vomiting anything.
The maid followed with concern, handing her so tissue and water, "Miss Sally, are you okay?"
"It’s nothing!" Sally Dalton straightened up, looked at her reflection in the mirror. "You go ahead and do your work."
The maid left, and Sally wiped her face with her hand.
It was already mid-month, but her period hadn’t co yet. Was she really pregnant?
She checked her watch; it was getting late. She decided to deal with it tomorrow.
After the maid finished preparing the al, Sally Dalton personally took the tray upstairs to the study room.
In the study room, Nathan Leafcastle was leaning on the terrace railing, smoking in a daze. After placing the food on the desk, Sally Dalton walked to his side. Slling the smoke, she quickly waved her hand to disperse it. "Smoking is bad for your health, smoke less."
Nathan Leafcastle exhaled a puff of smoke into the night sky, "It’s getting late, you should rest."
"I want to talk to you." Sally Dalton tightened her lips, "Nathan, have you... have you considered us having a child?"
Nathan Leafcastle wasn’t in the mood for this topic, "Now’s not the ti. Let’s wait until the Jade River project is settled."
With that, he returned to his computer and opened a file.
Seeing that he didn’t want to talk more, Sally Dalton had no choice but to back away.
"Then... I’m going to sleep now. Eat sothing, okay?"
"Okay."
Nathan Leafcastle answered, looking at the computer.
Sally Dalton felt a bit of disappointnt, turned, and walked out of the study room.
Hearing the door close, Nathan Leafcastle put down the mouse and covered his face with his hands.
"Sally, I’m sorry!"

The next day, Kris Cooper arrived early at the office. After placing the breakfast he brought on the table, he imdiately asked the night staff.
"How is it?"
"No unusual occurrences. Last night, they had dinner with Bernardy Dalton, then stayed at the villa the whole ti without coming out." At this point, the staff gave an ambiguous smile, "From last night until now, they haven’t been intimate, not even a kiss."
