Kris Cooper excused himself and left. Bernardy Dalton walked him to the door and then turned back. His gaze fell on the docunts on the table. He strode over, pulled out the recorder from the file bag, and pressed the play button.
The speaker of the recorder imdiately began to play the conversation between Nathan Leafcastle and Smith.
There were four or five segnts in the recording. The more Bernardy Dalton listened, the tighter his eyebrows furrowed.
With his sharp mind, he had already guessed the truth by then.
His fingers tightened sharply around the recorder, and Bernardy Dalton slamd it down on the table with a loud clap, standing up straight from his chair.
"Call Nathan Leafcastle right now and have him co see !"
The Assistant heard everything and imdiately agreed.
"No!" Bernardy Dalton raised his hand to stop him, "Get the car ready. I’m going to Barker now!"
Grabbing the materials from the table, he strode towards the door. The Assistant hurried a few steps to open the door for him.
Outside, Sally Dalton was just raising her hand to knock. Seeing the door suddenly open, she was startled and took a couple of seconds to react.
"Dad, where are you going..."
Before she even finished her question, Bernardy Dalton barked an order.
"Where is Nathan Leafcastle?"
Sally Dalton noticed sothing was off in his expression and raised her eyebrows in confusion.
"What happened?"
"I asked you, where is he!" Bernardy Dalton roared.
"He... he’s at work in the company, Dad, you..."
Before Sally Dalton could finish, Bernardy Dalton had already pushed her arm aside, striding towards the hallway.
"Dad!" Sally Dalton jogged after him, "What on earth is going on, Dad!"
She reached out to stop her father, "Explain before you go."
"What’s going on?" Bernardy Dalton slapped the docunts he was holding into her arms, "Look at the kind of man you’re interested in; see what good deeds he’s done!"
Sally Dalton was a bit slow in catching, managing to only clutch the file bag, while the stack of photos slid out, scattering on the floor.
She knelt down to gather the photos and noticed Nathan Leafcastle in them. Sally Dalton slowly picked up a photo, holding it delicately between her fingers.
"Isn’t... isn’t that Smith?! How... how could he be with Nathan Leafcastle?"
"If I knew, who could I ask?" Bernardy Dalton’s voice was full of pain and disappointnt. "I always thought I could trust Barker to him, and here this ungrateful backstabber goes, betraying like this! I still believed he truly understood, but didn’t expect him to pull this stunt... Hmph, I want to ask him, does he think this is fair to or to you?!"
Bernardy Dalton was so furious that his lips trembled, and his face turned crimson red from the outburst, his body quivering with every wave of his hand.
"Chairman!"
"Dad!"
The Assistant and Sally Dalton rushed over to support him.
"Dad, are you alright?!"
Bernardy Dalton panted heavily, pushing the Assistant aside.
"Go... get the car ready, no... call the police, I want this bastard to reflect properly in prison!"
"Dad!" Sally Dalton tightly grasped her father’s arm, "Please calm down, okay?"
"I can’t calm down!" Bernardy Dalton roared.
"I’m begging you, Dad, please, let ... I’ll go talk to him first. Maybe there’s so misunderstanding!"
"Misunderstanding?" Bernardy Dalton grabbed his daughter’s arm, "With photos, audio, and everything, even Kris Cooper has found out about it. How could there be a misunderstanding? Sally, even now, are you still defending him?"
