Chapter 578: Aftermath
Chapter 577: Aftermath
More than a decade later.
Jie Ming stood inside a floating tal fortress, gazing out through the transparent porthole at the endless sea of light beyond.
This was the Endless Light Domain—the na the wizards had given to the core region of the Information Plane.
After more than ten years of transformation, this once purely white world had undergone earth-shattering changes.
Countless tal structures floated within the sea of light. Wizard runes intertwined with the luminous patterns of the information beings, creating a bizarre yet harmonious scene. The Information Plane was vast, but the information beings had cooperated far too well.
Once the highest consensus algorithm decided to surrender, the entire race operated like a precise machine.
In just a few short years, the reception process was essentially complete.
Those who needed to research did so, those who needed to migrate did so, and those who needed to cooperate did so. Everything was carried out with efficiency that bordered on cold detachnt.
Jie Ming should have left more than ten years ago.
But for certain reasons, he had been forced to stay behind.
The magic network terminal vibrated once.
“Oh, looks like it’s ti.”
Jie Ming glanced at it, then turned away from the porthole. He walked through the long corridor and arrived before a massive tal door.
The door opened automatically, revealing a treatnt room filled with dical pods.
Once, every pod here had been occupied.
But now most of the dical pods were empty. Only the deepest row still glowed with faint lights, indicating that people remained inside.
Jie Ming walked over to one of the pods.
Inside lay a fifth-ring wizard, eyes tightly shut, face calm, breathing steady—exactly like the silent wizards from back then. Or rather, this wizard was indeed in a state of silence.
Jie Ming raised his hand and tapped a few tis on the control panel beside the pod.
A mont later, the wizard inside opened his eyes.
The man first looked dazed for an instant, then abruptly sat up, gasping for breath.
He lowered his head to look at his own hands, then raised it to look around. Disbelief gradually surfaced in his eyes.
“This…”
He clenched his fists, sensing sothing, and ecstasy flooded his face.
“My ntal power… my control intensity over elents… it’s increased by at least thirty percent!”
He turned to look at Jie Ming, his eyes filled with gratitude.
“Lord Jie Ming, thank you!”
Jie Ming waved his hand.
“No need to thank . I was just following procedure. Besides…”
He smiled and pointed at the instrunt panel beside him. “While you were unconscious, the expeditionary force charged by the day. I’m just earning my salary.”
The man was stunned for a second, then burst into loud laughter.
“It’s worth it! Totally worth it!”
He jumped out of the dical pod, stretched his body, and could not hide the smile on his face no matter how hard he tried.
Jie Ming checked the nearby data and nodded.
“Condition is stable. You may leave. Turn left when you exit—there are dedicated personnel to handle the follow-up procedures.”
“Got it!”
The man ran out cheerfully, his steps so light it seed he might take flight.
Jie Ming watched his departing figure, then turned to look at the remaining few dical pods and shook his head helplessly.
These wizards in a state of silence were not from the first batch.
In fact, shortly after the information beings surrendered, the wizards had quickly obtained the thod to break the silence from them.
So this matter should have ended there.
But the problem was…
The first batch of wizards who awakened from silence discovered that their combat strength had increased dramatically.
It was not a minor improvent, but a qualitative leap.
Their ntal power was more condensed, their perception of elents was sharper, and their casting speed was faster…
More importantly, they had gained an instinct from the entropy reduction cycle: the ability to absorb external elents to a certain degree and bring them under their own control.
This was truly exaggerated. The fundantal reason wizards possessed such powerful combat strength was their ability to leverage knowledge to amplify elental output, allowing one unit of elent to exert the power of thousands or millions.
This new ability was equivalent to a genuine increase in the “base amount” of elents they could mobilize.
The previous improvents could all be achieved by wizards through consuming resources in various ways.
But this one had no other thod except through silence.
Once the news spread, the entire expeditionary force boiled over.
This was a “foundational” improvent!
Thus, what should have ended beca a “silence craze.”
Wizards began voluntarily requesting to enter the silent state, then be awakened again.
Unfortunately, shortly after accepting the information beings’ surrender, Wizard Martin had gone into closed-door seclusion to study.
He had obtained the entropy reduction laws he desired and needed ti to digest them.
That seclusion lasted more than ten years.
And within the entire expeditionary force, aside from Martin, the person who understood silence the best turned out to be Jie Ming.
After all, he had the foundation of immortal cultivation knowledge—which was inherently more inclined toward the path of entropy reduction.
Moreover, during the ti he had been oppressed by the highest consensus algorithm in the virtual space, under the pressure of life and death, he had gained enlightennt. His understanding of the entropy reduction cycle had already reached a rather profound level.
It was even deeper than that of many high-tier wizards.
Thus, at the joint request of the other high-tier wizards, Jie Ming had beco the person in charge of this “silent awakening” project.
He had been doing it for more than ten years.
“Speaking of which…”
Jie Ming murmured to himself, “I should be leaving soon as well.”
He walked over to the next dical pod and was about to continue operating it when the door behind him opened automatically.
Light footsteps sounded.
Jie Ming turned around and saw a seventh-ring wizard with graying hair and beard walk in.
“Jie Ming.”
“Senior Alva.”
Jie Ming nodded in greeting.
This Wizard Alva was one of the earliest people who had joined Martin in the planar war.
The two ca from the sa wizard faction and could be considered Martin’s direct subordinates.
Over these ten-plus years, he had co here quite often.
Alva walked over to Jie Ming’s side and glanced at the remaining few dical pods.
“How many woke up this ti?”
“One just left.” Jie Ming pointed toward the door. “Five more remain. They should all wake up within this week.”
Alva nodded and patted Jie Ming on the shoulder.
“You’ve worked hard these past ten-plus years.”
Jie Ming shook his head.
“It’s not really hard work. I’ve gained quite a few benefits myself.”
This was the truth.
The process of helping others awaken from silence was also a form of learning for him.
With every awakening, he could understand the operation of the entropy reduction cycle more deeply and perceive the subtle changes that occurred in those wizards’ spiritual seas during silence.
Over more than ten years, the experience he had accumulated in this area had beco so profound that even high-tier wizards could not help but sigh in admiration.
Alva smiled and did not exchange any more polite words.
“When are you leaving?”
Jie Ming was stunned for a mont, then laughed.
“Is it that obvious?”
“You’ve been pushing off tasks since last year. Who wouldn’t notice?” Alva teased. “If we old fellows hadn’t helped you share the load, you would have been annoyed to death by those people waiting for silence.”
Jie Ming looked a little embarrassed.
“It’s decided. Once these few wake up, I’ll leave.”
He looked out the window at the endless sea of light, his tone calm.
“Over these ten-plus years, everyone has learned more or less enough. In the future, if any wizard wants to undergo silence, with your abilities it will be very easy to restore them.”
Alva nodded, then asked again, “Do you really not need to try silence yourself once?”
Jie Ming was silent for a mont, then smiled and shook his head.
“No need.”
He explained, “While helping others recover, I’ve already gained quite a lot. Now… I’ve more or less reached the limit.”
Alva glanced at him and did not press further.
At their level, everyone understood what “limit” ant.
It was not a bottleneck, but simply “unable to continue improving under current conditions.”
“Alright.” Alva patted his shoulder. “Since you’ve decided, just leave with peace of mind. We old fellows will keep an eye on things here. Nothing will go wrong.”
Jie Ming nodded and turned to continue walking toward the next dical pod.
