Now reading: Chapter 1 1: You Damned Old Man, You’re Terrible! from I Became a Demon Sword and Traveled the Anime Worlds, a Action novel by FanficLord02.

[Special Reminder: Since this is a Demonic Blade story, the protagonist will have limited screen ti in the early stages. His appearances will gradually increase later on!]

Who am I?

Where am I?

What am I supposed to do?

When Alex regained consciousness, all he saw was darkness.

Endless, silent darkness.

There was no light, no sound, no up or down. He could not feel his limbs. He could not even feel a body. It was as if his consciousness had been thrown into a black void and left there to drift forever.

For a few seconds, his mind was completely blank.

Then his mories ca rushing back.

And the first thing he did was curse.

"You damned old man, you're terrible! Your fortune telling was way too accurate!"

The scene from earlier that day surfaced in his mind with painful clarity.

He had originally planned to go out for hot pot and karaoke, a perfectly normal evening. But on the way there, just outside a hospital, he ran into a fortune teller.

An old man.

The old geezer had blocked his path and insisted on reading his fortune. Worse, he refused to take any money.

That imdiately lowered Alex's guard.

Free things had a very strong persuasive effect.

So he stopped.

The old man narrowed his eyes, looked him up and down for a long mont, then smiled mysteriously.

"Young man, I can see a lucky star shining above you today. Heaven favors you. Within the hour, you are destined to encounter great fortune!"

He paused dramatically, as if waiting for applause.

Then he puffed up with even more confidence and added, "Not only that, but your future will rise like a dragon soaring into the heavens. You are destined for greatness!"

As though worried Alex might doubt him, the old man slapped his chest and swore, "I guarantee it! If my fortune telling is wrong, you can co back and beat up anyti!"

At the ti, Alex had just stood there, confused.

Still, he had not thought much of it. They exchanged a few aningless lines, and he went on his way.

Then he reached the crosswalk across from the hospital.

Then a cargo truck lost control and ca roaring straight at him.

What followed felt less like an accident and more like a personal grudge.

He ran.

The truck followed.

He dodged.

The truck turned.

At that point, it no longer resembled traffic. It looked more like a determined assassination attempt conducted by a steel monster with murderous intent.

In the final second, when there was no way left to escape, Alex only had ti to shout one last furious sentence.

"So this is the damn 'great fortune' you were talking about?!"

Then he was hit.

His body flew into the air, spun a full circle like a thrown rag doll, slamd into the ground, and skidded for dozens of ters before everything went black.

Rembering all that, Alex returned to the present and tried to assess his situation.

"It's dark, I can't move, and I can't feel my body at all..." he muttered uneasily. "Don't tell I survived and just ended up as a vegetable?"

Just as that horrifying possibility surfaced, a cold chanical voice rang out in his mind.

[Ding! Host consciousness detected. Beginning system binding... 30%... 50%... 90%...]

At the sa ti, a translucent panel appeared before his eyes.

[Strongest Demonic Blade System successfully bound.]

[Host, would you like to open the Novice Gift Pack?]

Alex froze for a second.

Then his eyes widened.

"A system? A real system?!"

Anyone who had read enough webnovels knew exactly what that ant.

Without hesitation, he shouted, "Open it! Open the Novice Gift Pack now!"

[Ding! Opening Novice Gift Pack...]

[Congratulations, Host. You have obtained: [One Demonic Blade Template Draw Chance], [Eternal Grade Buff: Unbreakable], and 1000 Emotional Value!]

Alex stared at the rewards and quickly asked, "System, what do these things do?"

The system answered imdiately.

[Ding! The Demonic Blade Template Draw Chance allows the host to select one demonic blade from the myriad worlds as a template.]

[The host may unlock abilities belonging to that blade through Emotional Value, or use the system lottery to draw abilities, techniques, or items.]

[The Eternal Grade Buff: Unbreakable guarantees that the host will never suffer any form of damage. Even if worlds are destroyed, the host will remain intact.]

Alex listened carefully and pieced it together in an instant.

A blade template. Emotional Value. A lottery. Absolute invulnerability.

That last one was especially absurd.

"You're saying I can't be destroyed no matter what happens?"

[Ding! Correct.]

Alex inhaled slowly.

That was outrageous.

That was terrifying.

That was beautiful.

Still, he forced himself to stay calm and asked the next obvious question.

"Then how do I get Emotional Value?"

[Ding! Emotional Value can be gained by eliciting emotions from any biological or non biological entity. The stronger the target, the more Emotional Value generated.]

[Negative emotions produce more Emotional Value than positive emotions.]

Alex understood imdiately.

So this was that kind of system.

Make people emotional, harvest the reaction, grow stronger.

Simple. Shaless. Efficient.

"Got it." He did not waste another second. "System, use the draw chance. I want to draw a demonic blade template."

[Ding! Begin draw?]

The mont the prompt appeared, a huge roulette wheel materialized before him. Countless blade silhouettes filled its surface, each carrying a different aura.

Alex chose to draw without hesitation.

The wheel spun wildly.

Faster and faster.

Even the darkness around him seed to twist with it.

Finally, it slowed, clicked past the last few slots, and stopped on a black bladed tachi streaked with dark green patterns.

Alex stared at it and frowned.

"This looks familiar... Why do I feel like I've definitely seen it before?"

The system gave him the answer at once.

[Ding! Congratulations, Host. You have obtained the Black Demon Series template: Asuramaru!]

The mont those words fell, a tachi appeared in the darkness.

Black blade.

Green markings.

Elegant, ominous, and sharp enough to make the air itself seem cold.

And at that mont, Alex realized sothing else.

That blade was now him.

His body.

Only then did the mory click into place.

"Asuramaru..." Alex blurted out. "Isn't this from Seraph of the End?"

It was a powerful blade, one he recognized the mont the na appeared. In terms of style, strength, and sheer presence, there was basically nothing to complain about.

Well, almost nothing.

There was one small detail attached to this blade in the original series, but Alex very wisely chose not to think too hard about that right now.

Before he could inspect the template any further, the system spoke again.

[Ding! Host template confird.]

[Initiating first world transfer.]

[Destination: Demon Slayer World.]

[Beginning transfer!]

A pillar of brilliant light descended from above and engulfed his blade form completely.

The black void shattered.

His consciousness was swept away once again.

...

When Alex opened his eyes again, the first thing he noticed was movent.

A steady, rhythmic sway.

The second thing he noticed was the warmth of a human body nearby.

The third thing he noticed was that he was hanging from soone's waist.

He quickly focused his senses and took in the scene around him.

The person carrying him was a young boy with dark red hair and a scar on the left side of his forehead. He wore a faded white kimono beneath a green and black checkered haori. A wooden box wrapped in white cloth was strapped across his back.

An axe hung at one side of his waist.

And Alex, now in the form of a black bladed tachi, hung at the other.

There was no need to guess.

This boy was Tanjiro Kamado.

The evening sun stretched long shadows across the forest path as Tanjiro walked forward alone, the mountain road silent except for the sound of his footsteps.

At the sa ti, another system notification appeared before Alex.

[Ding! World transfer successful.]

[A reasonable identity has been fabricated for the host: a Kamado family heirloom Sword passed down through generations.]

[Sword Master Tanjiro Kamado has been bound to the host.]

[Assist the Sword Master in killing Muzan Kibutsuji and avenging his family to unlock the second world transfer.]

The ssage vanished as quickly as it had co.

Alex barely spared it a glance.

Maybe it was because of [Unbreakable]. Maybe dying once had already smashed apart most of his common sense. Either way, he found himself much calr than expected.

Instead of panicking, he studied the world around him.

Demon Slayer.

An actual Demon Slayer world.

And judging from Tanjiro's appearance and current situation, the tiline was obvious.

This was the beginning.

Tanjiro was almost certainly on his way to Mount Sagiri to seek out Sakonji Urokodaki.

Which ant the plot had only just begun.

If Alex rembered correctly, then before long Tanjiro would run into a man eating demon hiding inside a temple.

But that was for later.

Right now, Alex had sothing much more important to do.

He needed to establish contact with his so called Sword Master.

And if possible, harvest a little Emotional Value along the way.

With that thought, he imdiately acted.

Asuramaru's power stirred.

Black mist seeped from the blade, spreading in faint tendrils before condensing into hair thin strands. They crept upward from the hilt in eerie silence and wound themselves around Tanjiro's forearm like living shadows.

Tanjiro noticed it at once.

His body stiffened.

He lowered his head and looked at the family heirloom blade hanging at his waist, only to see countless black threads slithering out from it and coiling around his arm.

His pupils contracted.

Fear flashed clearly across his face.

"Wh what is this...?"

He instinctively tried to react.

But before he could do anything, his consciousness was dragged away, pulled straight into the illusion Alex had woven.

The world around him changed.

In an instant, Tanjiro found himself standing before the place he knew better than anywhere else in the world.

His ho.

The familiar house stood quietly before him, exactly as it had in his mories.

For a mont, Tanjiro could only stare.

Before he could gather his thoughts, the door opened.

A woman stepped outside.

The instant he saw her, warmth, grief, and aching nostalgia crashed into his heart all at once.
