Beisitian glanced at Zhou Jiren intentionally or unintentionally, crumpling the paper of the Bag Talisman Powder into a ball.

"It’s all right now," Beisitian said.

She was just using the Xuan Talisman to enhance the functions of so herbs. Actually, even if she hadn’t treated her, Ma Xiaoling would have recovered gradually over ti. It would just take a little longer.

Ma Xiaoling squeezed her lips, tears almost falling, finally able to speak.

Zhou Jiren glanced at Ma Xiaoling and said, "Since you’re healed, just leave. We don’t need a servant like you at Jishi Pharmacy."

Ma Xiaoling’s newly risen joy instantly vanished, her face turned pale. She lost her job? If this job is gone, who knows what kind of trouble her husband and mother-in-law will give her!

Moreover, if she loses this job, she won’t be able to find another one that pays as well and isn’t as exhausting.

By then, not just her in-laws, even her own family might look down on her!

Instinctively, Ma Xiaoling turned her gaze to Beisitian, hoping she would put in a good word for her.

Seeing her pleading look, Beisitian spoke up, "Let it go this ti. I’ve already punished her. It’s not easy to find a job!"

Ma Xiaoling hadn’t expected Beisitian to actually plead for her, stood there dazed, feeling both grateful and moved.

Whether or not to dismiss a servant didn’t really matter. Zhou Jiren just thought Beisitian was sowhat intriguing and wanted to take the opportunity to get on her good side. Since she pleaded, he could do her a favor.

"Since the lady pleads, we’ll let it go this ti. If there’s a next ti, we won’t have a place for you at Jishi Pharmacy," Zhou Jiren said.

Ma Xiaoling nodded repeatedly, thanking Zhou Jiren and Beisitian profusely.

Beisitian accepted her gratitude with peace of mind.

She’s not a saint. If soone is malicious to her, she naturally has to retaliate. The reason she pleaded for Ma Xiaoling was that she planned to visit the Western Pharmacy later; Jishi Pharmacy was just right for that.

If Ma Xiaoling were dismissed and replaced with another servant, their attitude wouldn’t be much better. There’s no help for it; that’s how things are in this era. So, it’s better to have Ma Xiaoling, who both fears and appreciates her as a servant!

"It’s said that adversity makes strange bedfellows. Would the lady like to have a seat at our Jishi Pharmacy, as a gesture of my apology?" Zhou Jiren said with a smile.

Beisitian knew he was referring to the incident where he almost hit her. At that ti, she had no idea about his background, so naturally, she didn’t dare to go with him. Now that she knew who he was, it no longer mattered.

Coincidentally, she also wanted to know so people with knowledge of Western dicine. Compared to Ma Xiaoling, Zhou Jiren was naturally more suitable.

Beisitian agreed to go after she had finished her work here, and Zhou Jiren nodded and left.

"Little Tian’er, are you a doctor?" Zhang Baoli asked, now quite familiar with Beisitian, without much reservation.

"Sort of, my dad is a Chinese dicine doctor who used to practice in the village," Beisitian didn’t deny it. Eventually, she would definitely be a doctor herself.

Zhang Baoli was sowhat disappointed upon hearing Chinese dicine. Who still trusts Chinese dicine these days? A pill from Western dicine shows imdiate results, whereas Chinese dicine is troubleso and slow to show effect.

However, knowing a doctor not only gave her so prestige, but it was also convenient for minor ailnts.

"Little Tian’er, you’re quite sothing. Being skilled in embroidery is one thing, but you also know dicine! I have to really butter up to you!" Zhang Baoli said with a smile.

Beisitian was amused by her playful tone. Although their relationship was one of interest, Zhang Baoli was not a bad person.

In the embroidery workshop, holding one of Beisitian’s embroidered pieces, Zhang Baoli exclaid in admiration, "Sister, not to ntion your double-sided embroidery, or your exquisite needlework, but your patterns are truly unique, they never repeat!"

Beisitian smiled without saying a word, unfazed by Zhang Baoli’s deliberate flattery. Although she had many patterns in her mind, they were still limited by individual capacity, incomparable to an entire workshop!

After chatting with Zhang Baoli for a while, Beisitian prepared to leave. In this transaction, she earned over seventy, and including the previous earnings, she almost had two hundred!

It’s said that city folks earn about two hundred bucks a month, so for her to make two hundred in a month and a half is not much.

Unhurried and unpretentious, Beisitian prepared to proceed one step at a ti.

With the money in hand, Beisitian was about to deposit it at the cooperative and then go to Jishi Pharmacy. Before she could leave, Chun Ni rushed in sowhat flustered.

"Why didn’t you knock?" Zhang Baoli scolded unhappily.

Chun Ni had little ti to spare for anything else. She glanced at Beisitian and said, "Sister Bao Li, Zhang Baoxia from Anma Town is here!"

Zhang Baoli’s expression changed. She glanced at Beisitian, pondered briefly, then said, "Little Tian’er, I’ll see you out first. I have a guest to attend to."

Beisitian nodded, uninterested in other people’s private matters, though she knew Anma Town was a major town, typically labeled as such when the population exceeds a hundred thousand.

Though aware the visitor might not be a guest, she didn’t pry, leaving with Zhang Baoli.

In the hall, a slightly chubby, or rather plump, woman dressed in a floral dress, with her hair curled and a handbag on her shoulder, stood there scanning the room with an evaluating and disdainful gaze.

As soon as Beisitian ca out, she sensed the woman focusing intently on her.

She returned a glance, walked past the woman, and as she exited, she could still feel the woman’s gaze on her.

"Sister Baoxia, why are you here? Isn’t anyone looking after the shop in Anma Town?" Zhang Baoli’s voice ca from behind.

"Who was that young girl just now?" This voice should belong to Zhang Baoxia.

"A client, here to buy embroidery. Sister Baoxia, why did you co? Co in for a drink."

Unable to hear further, Beisitian headed towards the cooperative.

After saving the money, Beisitian went to Jishi Pharmacy. Inside the pharmacy, there were a few people, and Ma Xiaoling was busy, her attitude significantly improved, not exactly enthusiastic, but there was a smile on her face.

As she walked inside and Ma Xiaoling saw her, her body tensed up, and she quickly ca forward.

"Mr. Zhou is waiting for you inside, I’ll take you in," Ma Xiaoling said warmly.

Jishi Pharmacy was like a large courtyard house with three entrances; the front pharmacy occupied the largest area, and the two large tile-roofed houses at the back were where Zhou Jiren temporarily stayed.

The front was modernly decorated with a white the, the air filled with the sll of disinfectant. Following Ma Xiaoling to the back, the style suddenly changed; the tile-roofed house had red lacquer columns and green window fras, with swallows nesting under the eaves.

Had she not walked over from Jishi Pharmacy, Beisitian wouldn’t believe this was the back of Jishi Pharmacy.

"Miss Bei, please have a seat!" Zhou Jiren ca out to greet, having changed into a Zhongshan suit. With his tall stature, he looked spirited even if not particularly handso. Although his two mustaches were still slightly distracting.
