Beisitian saw him making talismans right in front of her, so it seed he really had an urgent matter to ask of her. She wasn’t in a hurry to ask, knowing he would eventually bring it up, and she planned to just listen then.

The soldier was out of danger by dawn. The reason for his hypovolemic shock was the long distance and remote mountain location of his patrol, which caused a delay in his arrival. Had he received imdiate first aid, there would’ve been no problem.

This soldier was admitted to the dical squad, undergoing a formal examination during the day. Beisitian didn’t need to worry about this anymore; she wanted to find ti to chat with Wei Zhongxun.

Wei Zhongxun was also active, or rather anxious. He called Beisitian to his office the next day under the pretext of discussing the soldier, then served her tea, being very polite.

"Were you making talismans yesterday?" Beisitian asked.

Wei Zhongxun raised an eyebrow. What else would it be if not talisman making? Her question was odd, especially considering she was a Mystic Doctor; despite the differences in detail, the process was largely the sa.

"Yes," Wei Zhongxun replied, despite his bewildernt.

Beisitian’s eyes flickered. Was it that the Mystic Doctors here made talismans this way, or was it just Wei Zhongxun?

She suddenly recalled that Du Kai Bo had ntioned before that Wei Zhongxun’s visible proficiency was only second to the old master of the Wei Family and Tao Hailin. She had seen Tao Hailin’s dicine making, and it was similar to Wei Zhongxun’s talisman powder. This suggested the talisman-making thods here were likely the sa.

Beisitian had thought yesterday that their reliance on this type of dium was probably because their spirit couldn’t support the process of Spiritual Pointing Talisman. In other words, they weren’t truly Mystic Doctors!

However, Beisitian thought that using such external ans was a feasible thod. Becoming a Mystic Doctor was sothing only a few could achieve, but many who fell slightly short in spirit could still use this thod to treat and save people, with effects surpassing ordinary Chinese and Western dicines!

Beisitian smiled, realizing that every industry could find its own path—human wisdom is limitless.

She asked a few more questions about the dium. Wei Zhongxun explained that it was called a talisman dium, specifically used for talisman-making. Different diums resulted in different Xuan Talismans.

Beisitian ignored Wei Zhongxun’s puzzled look. After understanding, she discovered that this talisman-making thod had many limitations. The talisman dium was made of a special cloth, sowhat like oilcloth but not entirely, quite heavy, and could be used for a long ti. So based on different ailnts, different diums were required.

If one did not know the illness they were encountering, they wouldn’t know which diums to bring. They couldn’t possibly carry them all. That was the biggest limitation.

Moreover, using a match to ignite a Xuan Talisman was a practice Beisitian had never seen before. Spiritual Pointing Talisman itself was a complete talisman-making process, no wonder the talisman powders she saw from Tao Hailin and Wei Zhongxun looked sowhat crude.

Subtle changes like these would be imperceptible to outsiders. It was like distinguishing genuine from counterfeit currency, where a bank cash staff could detect it at a touch, and a veteran employee could tell at a glance. Mystic Doctors shared a similar intuition about talisman powders.

Wei Zhongxun saw Beisitian deep in thought, and he forcibly restrained himself from asking how she made talismans. If not for her clearly superior skills, he might have assud Beisitian wasn’t a Mystic Doctor, as anyone in the field should know such basic things.

Having understood the basics of talisman-making, Beisitian stopped asking further questions. Wei Zhongxun, who had been waiting, quickly spoke up: "Doctor Bei, it’s like this. My father is gravely ill. We’ve tried everything, but nothing can cure him. He’s wasting away, and might not have more than a year or two left!"

"Aren’t you from a Xuan dical Family? If you can’t cure it, why are you sure I can?" Beisitian asked curiously.

Wei Zhongxun didn’t seem to be just trying; he seed quite confident that she could cure him.

Wei Zhongxun’s expression turned slightly serious, "Because my father’s condition is very similar to General Zhou’s. If you can cure General Zhou, there’s great hope for my father!"

"Bad water?" Beisitian frowned slightly.

Wei Zhongxun nodded, "Exactly. Our family never intended to get involved in those conflicts, but my father was still caught up in an unforeseen disaster."

Beisitian looked at Wei Zhongxun, knowing he wasn’t telling the whole truth. What unforeseen disaster? There are no such things in the world.

Wei Zhongxun smiled bitterly as he continued, "That’s what my grandfather told . Personally, I think there’s more to it, but he won’t tell or let get involved, so I think the family’s stance is to remain neutral."

Seeing Wei Zhongxun’s honesty, Beisitian believed him slightly more. She disagreed with the Wei Family’s approach but didn’t express her disagreent.

Even she initially didn’t want to be involved in such conflicts, partly because she was alone. But the Wei Family was a large clan. If they united with the Left-wing and had the support of the Military Departnt, they might not be those people’s opponent.

"You must understand, I’m not very willing to get involved right now," Beisitian said.

She was alone, outnumbered, and with the Luo Family and Tian Family behind her. Once she was involved in the turmoil, they would be the first to suffer.

Wei Zhongxun quickly raised his hand to swear, "We will keep it confidential for you, absolutely confidential. The Wei Family’s security asures are very thorough, more secure than when you treated General Zhou."

Beisitian sighed and said, "Let consider it."

Wei Zhongxun hadn’t expected her to agree imdiately. Seeing she didn’t refuse directly, he breathed a sigh of relief first.

"By the way, does your family have anyone who can perform Spiritual Pointing Talisman?" Beisitian suddenly asked.

Wei Zhongxun imdiately shook his head with a chuckle, "Spiritual Pointing Talisman? That’s the highest realm of Mystic Doctors. If we search through the current Mystic Doctors in the country, it’s impossible to find anyone who can perform it. It’s been maybe two or three hundred years since such a master erged."

Beisitian was stunned into silence—is Spiritual Pointing Talisman the highest realm of Mystic Doctors?

Has the world of Mystic Doctors fallen to this stage?

Wei Zhongxun shifted the conversation, "Actually, I once overheard my grandfather ntion that among those Mystic Doctors, a master proficient in Spiritual Pointing Talisman may have erged. Though it’s just a rumor, it’s detailed enough to be believable, which is why the Wei Family remains neutral."

He spoke forthrightly, clearly not wanting to mislead Beisitian.

After reflecting, Beisitian looked at Wei Zhongxun, finding so of her earlier reservations diminished. She smiled and said, "I understand, let think about it."

She left Wei Zhongxun’s office and walked towards the clinic. She was currently alone, with many people she cared about behind her, truly not daring to take risks.

She recalled Wu Yuekai’s words—was she going to hide forever?

Beisitian wasn’t the type to hide away, so she thought perhaps she should consider other paths to take, rather than remain as passive as she was.
