"Many people think like you, but I’ve heard the banquet invited more than one general!"
The ladies chatted and laughed, turning it into a topic of idle conversation over tea.
Madam Yun sat quietly on the side, aware of the situation. She and Mrs. Cheng were close friends, so Mrs. Cheng hadn’t hidden it from her.
Even so, she never imagined that the doctor she’d t at a banquet would truly be an extraordinary physician.
Every ti Madam Yun recalls that scene, she realizes her decision would never change no matter how many tis she encounters it.
So she had no regrets, but eting such a person in such a way made her particularly reflective.
The na Heavenly Blessing gradually spread everywhere, and Ma Tianlai, as the significant shareholder and actual decision-maker of Heavenly Blessing, beca increasingly busy with endless marketing tactics.
Beisitian, the hands-off manager, was now at Cheng ZhenGuo’s ho.
This was the first visit to see the boy Cheng Tianji after the ergency rescue that ti.
Cheng Tianji had woken up a while ago. Although he still lay in bed with little physical strength, his ntal state was much improved.
Seeing Beisitian appear, Cheng Tianji’s eyes brightened.
"How are you feeling?" Beisitian asked as she stood by the bed.
Cheng Tianji didn’t know what to say; in truth, he felt nothing. His body seed nonexistent, everything below his head felt empty, and, just like before, he had no appetite for any food. His body seed to reject anything, unable to accept any food.
"I want to drink water." Cheng Tianji said.
Beisitian took out a small porcelain bottle, and Cheng ZhenGuo’s gaze fell upon it. This porcelain bottle differed from the one Beisitian used earlier; it probably wasn’t talismanic water.
"Drink it. I specially prepared it for you." Beisitian handed it over.
Cheng Tianji nodded, took it, drank a gulp, then paused, raising his head to look at Beisitian in confusion, saying, "This isn’t water."
The liquid had a taste, indescribable, though it didn’t induce nausea.
"Can you drink it?" Beisitian asked.
Thinking about the taste, Cheng Tianji hesitated for a mont, then nodded and drank it. As soon as he finished, Beisitian handed him another small porcelain bottle.
"Drink a bit of this too."
This small porcelain bottle contained talismanic water.
The previous one was just a special vegetable juice crafted by Beisitian, with a light veggie taste. She wanted to see to what extent Cheng Tianji rejected food.
Fortunately, the slight amount of vegetable juice didn’t cause him any psychological rejection; thus, she gave him talismanic water to maintain his body’s needs, improve immunity, and prevent further decline.
After drinking them, Cheng Tianji’s arm erged from under the blanket, reaching towards Beisitian.
Cheng ZhenGuo was startled, unsure of his intentions. Yet, Beisitian smiled gently and extended her hand to clasp the boy’s hand.
The youth lightly gripped Beisitian’s hand and said, "Last ti, Sister held my hand. This ti, I want to hold yours back. I’m afraid there won’t be another chance."
Cheng ZhenGuo’s eyes reddened imdiately; unable to stay in the room, he turned and left.
Beisitian felt a stirring in her heart too. The boy clearly understood his condition, knowing another incident could end his life.
Beisitian’s face softened as she held the boy’s hand and said, "Sister will find a way to treat your illness. Please cooperate with Sister as much as you can, okay?"
Cheng Tianji smiled and nodded, but said nothing more. It was uncertain whether he felt hopeless or sothing else.
After Cheng ZhenGuo left, only the two of them remained in the room. Cheng Tianji suddenly asked, "Sister, are you afraid of blood?"
Beisitian was startled, uncertain why he asked such a question. After so thought, she replied, "It depends on the blood. If it’s just a cut from a knife, I’m not afraid."
Cheng Tianji stared seriously at Beisitian, paused, and then asked, "What if there’s a lot of blood? And there’s flesh inside, incomplete flesh?"
Beisitian was silent, suddenly realizing the boy might be trying to express sothing. She was about to inquire further when Cheng Tianji abruptly shut his eyes, his mouth opening as though about to vomit.
She swallowed her words profusely, lighting calming incense and waving it beneath his nose. The boy opened his sowhat reddened eyes, wiped away tears from his dry retching.
"Sister, this incense slls great!" The boy seed to have forgotten the previous mont, now looking at the incense in Beisitian’s hand with keen interest.
"This is calming incense; it will help you sleep deeply at night, to nurture your spirit." Beisitian smiled, extinguishing the incense before handing it to him, "It’s yours now. Light it an hour before bedti."
With delight, Cheng Tianji carefully accepted the incense, cautious not to break it.
"Sister, could you hand the box on the cabinet?" Cheng Tianji wore a faint smile, though due to being too thin, the smile appeared sowhat eerie.
Beisitian, unfazed, turned to take down a tal box from the top of a one-person-high cabinet and handed it to him.
Opening the box, it was filled with a lot of loose change, coins and cash, none with high denominations, the largest being only two yuan.
Cheng Tianji held the box out to Beisitian, asking, "Sister, is this enough?"
Beisitian was taken aback. "What’s it for?"
Cheng Tianji looked a bit shy, scratching his head and said, "I overheard Sister’s conversation with my mother last ti. Sister’s dicines are expensive, and Sister needs to save money for formula. These are the pocket money I saved up, and if it’s not enough, I’ll keep saving."
Beisitian was montarily amused, realizing that similar words, spoken by different people, could an entirely different things.
Cheng Tianji genuinely thought she was saving for formula money, and his eyes held the sincere notion that Sister, pregnant and still tending to his illness, was genuinely tough, causing a slight grin at the corners of her mouth.
Such a pure-hearted boy, if truly tornted by illness until he departed this world, it would be too tragic.
"This incense is a gift from Sister to you." Beisitian patted his head.
Cheng Tianji’s face reddened, "Is it because the money isn’t enough?"
"Not at all. Next ti you earn money yourself, co buy dicine from Sister." Beisitian laughed.
Cheng Tianji, holding the box, froze. Indeed, these savings weren’t earned by him; they ca from his parents, not money he had earned himself.
"Would Sister accept the money I earn?" Cheng Tianji looked up and asked.
"Yes, when you earn money, Sister will accept it." Beisitian chuckled.
Leaving Cheng Tianji’s room, Beisitian sat in the living room, where Mrs. Cheng seed sowhat anxious, wanting to inquire about the situation.
"Madam, has he ever experienced anything grueso?" Beisitian asked.
