---

The suffocating burden of hopelessness tried to deter him, but the lingering mory of his erstwhile human courage pushed him forward. He had fought death once before; he was not going to be defeated by it again, in whatever shape he took this ti, even that of an ant.

Ti was warped as he made his way through the lethal labyrinth. Shadows danced around him in a crazy, reckless light that could filter through gaps in the otherworldly roof above. Each step was a mory rent asunder—a flash of bullets, a mont of bravery, and the bitter flavour of lies. All these blended with the simple need to survive.

And so he walked to what appeared to him as the edge of the cetery, letting the stifling feeling of mortality gradually fade from his senses. But his mission was not nearly over. His ntal system’s warning bell rang wildly: he had less than eight hours to do his job.

Every passing second was an age, and with every guarded pace, the urgency grew. And lastly, after what had seed like an eternity, Kai ca to a faintly lit edge where the charred remains of his forr life split apart to give entry to a dark, less barren passageway. And, with a final glance back over his shoulder at the horrific sight behind him, he moved on. Mission number one was completed—it was done; he had escaped from the cetery.

But sweet victory, for it was the beginning of an even tougher existence. A Solo Dive into the Abyss The future was shrouded in doubt. Kai pressed on, the world changing. He was inside a gigantic, sprawling ant colony that stretched for what seed like thousands of kilotres. Walls were alive and oily, bent over centuries through the ceaseless labours of millions of worker ants. This nest once crowded with busy insects, now lay idle, echoing with the quiet labours of its forr dwellers.

It was a haven that was intended for upcoming workers to be bred in—a haven for those who were found to be fit to fulfil the colony’s strict standards. Yet now, it stood as a deserted monunt to a life that had once been orderly and purposeful.

Kai’s newfound reality was both awe-inspiring and terrifying. The nest was too large to contain him, and the absence was claustrophobic. Nothing moved here, no other ants to offer assistance or companionship. Only the faint echoes of his own deeds and the incessant hum of the system’s warnings resonated at the periphery of his mind.

It was like the nest itself was a grave, a discarded remnant to be disturbed by the labour of its most unlikely occupant. Tornted by loneliness and the burden of his circumstance, Kai made his way through seemingly boundless corridors and cavernous expanses. The corridors were bordered by intricate tunnels that curved and branched, each one of them leading into another unmapped area of the nest. His new form hardly adapted to its ant physiology, lurched with every step. Clumsy steps, coordination of unfamiliar new limbs.

But survival instinct compelled him onward. The system’s harsh ultimatum was a choice he could no longer deny; defeat would further shadow his already steepening death curve. Roaming, his hunger beca unbearable. The realization of his physical frailties and the altered vulnerability of his body compelled him to look for food. All natural and inborn desires drive him to look for food and water.

[Mission two: Locate food and water]

He was not going to let the icy grip of fate render him a weaker man. Instead, he would forge his own path again, one that blended the courage of his previous incarnation with the comfort of his current bug form. Through the twisting tunnels, Kai could sense his own body gradually accepting its new limitations and potential.

The thud of his footsteps, stuttering and unsteady before, fell into a practised rhythm. Every thrum of the earth beneath him, every softening of light around him, whispered to him of secrets to be uncovered—of powers to be learned and battles to be fought. In the solitude of that vast, abandoned nest, Kai’s mind was a tumult of thoughts and emotions.

The quest was evident the second ti, but reactions were not elicited from the deford nest. Kai crawled infinite loops in the maze for what had felt like an eternity, antennae waving as they hunted for even a crumb of food.

Finally, after all the false starts and near misses due to exhaustion, he stumbled over a patch of small, thick-husked glowing plants. Leaves of the plants emitted a soft, glowing light from an iridescent sheen in the darkness. Fascinated by their ethereal radiance, Kai drew near with a mixture of hope and fear.

[Ding! System notifications- mission two complete. You found a food source. This ’Lumina Herb’ can be also used as water. You can make juice from it.]

"The plant... So this is called, ’Lumina Herb,’ I am glad that I was able to complete two missions."He murdered holding it on his ant hands while the herbs radiated gentle heat as he chewed on it.

The taste was bitter-sweet—a peculiar blend of life-force energy and a lingering aftertaste of bitterness from his own calamitous past. With the herb’s power flowing through his system, Kai experienced a subdued explosion inside.

His aura, which had been a humble 100, seed to inflate in turn, becoming even slightly more vibrant. The second assignnt was complete, though the journey hadn’t been risk- and challenge-free. The plant was not only a source of sustenance—it was a lifeline, a reminder that in the midst of desolation at the edges of life, there might be embers of life to be held onto.

[Third mission: The Art of Sound Wave Communication.]

Two tasks were done, the final task of the day was to learn the rudintary ant sound wave language. This skill, as easy as it had seed, was essential to survival in a world where language was life or death. And there was a twist—Kai was all alone in the big nest.

There were no other ants to instruct him or to join him in the complex dance of pheromone and sound that was ant language.

Refusing to be disheartened, Kai found a back-of-beyond, secret room hidden deep in the nest. Spooky and quiet as it was, the room gave him so degree of solitude—where he could retreat in an effort to read and study this enigmatic gift.

Smiling within his eyes, he concentrated on the vibration which he could sense within him, it ca to like breathing, trying to harmonize his senses so that he might hear the infinitesimal frequencies which herald an ant sound waves. His own mind, previously still tornted by the ghostly recollections of his previous existence as a human, now had to adapt to a new ans of communication—a raw but magically potent language.

What had consud such hours, Kai attempted different vibrations and frequencies, and the sound reverberated inside him. His antennae trembled, detecting the slightest of signals, as he fought in vain to reproduce the complex Ant calls. Each attempt was a battle—a battle between the lingering vestige of his human brain and the nascent impulses of his ant existence.
