Kai’s jaw fell slack. "Wow! It’s evolving...?!"
The Ravager staggered back as the Lurker’s body warped before his eyes. Spines lengthened, plates thickened, its legs grew longer and more muscular. A black mist surged around it, wrapping the Lurker like a second skin.
When the transformation ended, what stood in the clearing was no longer the sa predator.
It was a monster.
Three glowing red eyes blinked open across its forehead. Its new tail resembled a whip forged of bone and venom, twitching with murderous rhythm. The ground trembled beneath its claws.
And then the Ravager lunged. The clearing beca a maelstrom. Steel-hard claws tore into armored chitin. Fangs sank into mutated flesh. Aura exploded in violent bursts as both beasts collided with world-ending force.
Kai huddled deeper into his tree, trembling. From his hiding spot, he watched, wide-eyed, as the monsters tore into each other with reckless fury. Blood painted the rocks and moss covered ground. Shrill cries and thunderous bellows filled the ravine.
But even as his pain surged, sothing else stirred. Wonder.
This was power in its rawest form. And both creatures, sa level in strength, were slowly tearing each other apart.
Minutes passed. The Lurker’s whip-tail finally snapped around the Ravager’s neck. The Ravager retaliated with a massive bite into the Lurker’s mutated chest.
Neither relented. Until finally... Both fell. The Lurker dropped first, its body spasming, then going still. The Ravager stood over it, panting, body trembling... then collapsed next to its fallen foe.
The clearing was deathly quiet. Only the system notifications sound rang in Kai’s mind.

Kai’s eyes widened.
They were both alive, but barely. And then his system pinged again.

Kai’s breath caught. A chance. A once-in-a-lifeti chance. He could feel it in his bones, in his soul. The Essence Eater stirred within him like a predator scenting prey.
His fractured body scread in protest, but his mind was clear. "If I devour them... I’ll gain everything."

Trembling in excitent, Kai slowly pushed himself from the hollow of the tree. His legs wobbled beneath him, but he remained upright. He took a single step forward, then another.
The clearing stank of blood and death. He approached the Lurker first, its monstrous form still glowing faintly. Its eyes were open, but the life behind them had faded.
Kai activated the Essence Eater skill To biteLurker’s chest. The surge of power was instant and agonizing.
His body shuddered. His vision blurred. His limbs locked. But he didn’t stop. He moved to the Ravager.
It too was barely breathing, its chest rising and falling with labored, wet gasps. Its amber eyes t Kai’s for a heartbeat.
Then closed. Kai hesitated, not out of pity but Out of awe. "You were a king here," he whispered. "But now, your power is mine."
He leaned in. Essence Eater activated again. This ti the flow of liquid was hotter, more chaotic. The Ravager’s essence fought back, resisting. But Kai clenched his mandibles tighter.
He would not be denied. He will take it all. The final sparks of its aura. Its instincts. Its legacy. And when the last thread disappeared into him, the system scread.

His body shook with wild, unchecked energy.
His vision flooded with ancient mories, images of hunts, kills, pack dominance. He scread as his limbs cracked and reshaped.
A shell of hardened bone slid over his fractured side. His aura flared bright enough to light the entire ravine.
When he finally opened his eyes... He was completely healed from all injuries.

Kai stood among the broken bodies of beasts, chest rising and falling, his aura trembling around him like a living fla. The battlefield was a slaughtered monunt to power and pain. The Shadow Spine Lurker and the Twin-Fanged Ravager lay motionless, their bodies twitching with the last traces of death energy.
And now, they were his.
Kai’s mandibles clicked with quiet determination. He walked forward, examining the beasts’ chests. Near their core cavities, faint pulses of energy still shimred. He crouched beside the Lurker’s body and drove his claws deep into the wound left from his Essence Eater skill.
A mont later, a radiant orb rolled free.

He repeated the process with the Ravager, and another orb, a dark purple core covered in glowing veins, was retrieved.
