"Has Her Majesty the Empress left?"
The couple leaned their heads to look behind and found the room was indeed empty. Only then did they breathe a sigh of relief, patting their robes and getting up.
Before Chen Mo could speak, He Yuzhi twisted his ear with her backhand.
"You little brat, you’re truly fearless, daring to provoke anyone!"
"Tell , when did things start between you and Her Majesty? And the Empress... what’s your relationship with her?"
Chen Zhuo’s face turned iron-blue as he coldly said, "The Chen Family may not be a renowned scholarly family, but we’ve upheld a clean and proper reputation. How did we raise a rebel son like you?!"
Yesterday, he went out for socializing and returned late at night, drunk as could be, unable to walk straight.
Just as he lay down on the bed, He Yuzhi told him that Her Majesty the Consort was sleeping in the East Wing with Chen Mo. He thought his wife must be drunk too, or she wouldn’t be talking nonsense.
After repeatedly confirming it’s true, he imdiately sobered up.
Upon hearing that Chen Mo also had unclear relations with the Empress, his head buzzed loudly.
Although he had already suspected it, now that it had co to this, it was still hard to digest...
Chen Zhuo, being in office for many years, knew full well what this ant.
If this matter reached the Emperor’s ears, let alone him at Third Grade, even a state’s pillar would be chopped into pieces and thrown into the river to feed the fish!
The two of them eyed each other with fear and stayed awake all night, awaiting at Chen Mo’s door at the crack of dawn, ready to pay respects, fearing displeasing Her Majesty.
"I’ve lived my life so cleanly; I haven’t even taken a concubine, yet you go to the palace to serve as a concubine!"
"And you’re running back and forth between both the East and West Palace—not enough to keep you busy! Truly disgraceful to the Chen Family’s reputation!"
Chen Mo pouted and muttered, "It’s not that you don’t want concubines, but rather you don’t dare... Plus, the valiant family is sothing I fought for; otherwise, the Chen Family would still be seen as rebels in others’ eyes..."
"What did you say?!" Chen Zhuo blew his beard and glared, imdiately rolling up his sleeves ready to show fatherly love.
"Enough, don’t forget Mo’er is a Grandmaster; hitting him is like scratching an itch—not to ntion hurting yourself." He Yuzhi stopped Chen Zhuo and said, "There are many people around; let’s go inside and talk."
"Hmph!"
Chen Zhuo’s face was a bit embarrassed; he flung his sleeve and entered the room, legs raised.
He Yuzhi shook her head helplessly, took Chen Mo along, shut the door tightly, and sat on the chair, asking, "Tell us, what is really going on?"
At this point, there was nothing left to hide.
But Chen Mo thought a bit more; even though Her Majesty seed indifferent, as a woman, how could she not care about her reputation?
Especially when it involved the image in his parents’ eyes...
After pondering for a mont, Chen Mo said, "Her Majesty the Consort is indeed quite close to , but it’s bound by emotion, limited by propriety."
"Yesterday, Her Majesty just wanted to sleep at Chen Mansion to spite the Empress but actually returned to the palace in the middle of the night; nothing happened... ahem, nothing you imagine."
The two exchanged glances.
Nothing happened?
Judging by this, the Imperial Consort only harbors silent affection for him, without a substantial relationship?
Chen Zhuo frowned and said, "Are you telling the truth?"
"Absolutely true." Chen Mo said seriously, "Even if I were more reckless, I wouldn’t joke about such matters."
"What about the Empress then?" He Yuzhi pursued further, "What’s going on with the Empress?"
From Her Majesty’s attitude towards Sun Senior Palace Lady yesterday, it’s clear Chen Mo’s relationship with the Empress isn’t simple either.
"Well..."
Chen Mo touched his temple, hesitated for a mont, and revealed part of the truth: "Her Majesty the Empress and the Imperial Consort have always been adversarial. She discovered Her Majesty’s unusual attitude towards , grew curious, and actively engaged with . As these exchanges continued, they drew closer..."
"But like with Her Majesty the Consort, it remains at the level of admiration, without any transgression."
Whether it’s group activities, speech practice, pranks, or playful foot gas—in his view, it all falls within normal social interaction and, as long as there’s no formal initiation, isn’t considered crossing the line.
Seeing Chen Mo not appear to be lying, Chen Zhuo and He Yuzhi couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
From this perspective, the matter isn’t as bad as it sounded; despite emotional boundaries being sowhat blurred, at least it doesn’t constitute a cri against the Emperor.
But then again, the two highest-ranking and most powerful won in the Great Yuan were infatuated with Chen Mo, even to the point of seeming jealous of each other—a truly bizarre situation!
Even the Emperor doesn’t enjoy such privilege!
"Actually, thinking about it carefully, it can be understood." He Yuzhi pondered aloud, "Mo’er has achieved repeated success, being a Young Grandmaster, clad in bright armor, and dashing in deanor; most importantly, he’s handso and sweet-spoken, always charming won."
"Moreover, His Majesty is burdened with illness while the harem is divided, leading to this eventual developnt."
Chen Zhuo frowned, "But this ultimately goes against propriety..."
"People aren’t puppets that simply follow conventions; when emotions are stirred, they cannot be restrained," He Yuzhi shook her head. "As long as one controls their limits, I don’t see any problem."
"Do you think this kid has limits?"
"Then what do you suggest? Want to have a talk with the Empress and Imperial Consort teaching them about propriety and principles?"
"..."
Chen Zhuo was montarily speechless, turning his head in silence.
He Yuzhi seed to recall sothing, looking at Chen Mo, and asked, "By the way, could it be that the Daoist Venerable from Tianshu Pavilion also has a liking for you?"
Last ti, Ji Hongxiu suddenly visited Chen Mansion; it felt a bit odd. Now having co forth to scatter the Demon Lord’s avatar, helping Chen Mo escape danger, and thereby breaking through the Third-Level of Celestial Human Realm with him in tandem...
