Now reading: Chapter 379: Sang Qi Began to Hate Women from I Became the Eye Candy: Four Bigshots Claimed to be My Dad?, a Historical novel by Young Master Feng Jiu.

"I understand. The princes and princesses are accustod to a life of luxury and know nothing of the common folk’s suffering. In the future, on the day before their break, I will arrange for instructors to lead the students down the mountain to do farm work." Dean Chen had already thought of this.

"No matter what you tell them, they’ll never truly understand unless they experience it firsthand among the people. This is an excellent plan." The Beili Emperor clasped his hands behind his back and walked forward.

Sang Qi followed behind them, his expression sour. He was displeased for two reasons: first, because of the Emperor’s decree for Ye Qianning, and second, because of Yuan Xinyou. ’That girl is far too scheming.’

’She might be beautiful, but right now, she’s even more repulsive than that damn fatty.’

’In the future, I will never allow that wretched woman in the Imperial Palace, even if my own mother, the Empress, invites her.’

In his current state, Sang Qi subconsciously felt a sense of revulsion whenever he saw girls his own age or younger. Beautiful, ugly, fat—it didn’t matter. He found them all detestable.

Mr. Li led Ye Qianning toward the Imperial Infirmary. Cradling White Spirit, the little girl walked very slowly. He kept looking back, wanting to carry her but afraid he wasn’t strong enough.

After a mont’s thought, he said, "Miss Xiang, let carry White Spirit for you."

"Alright." Ye Qianning held White Spirit out.

The little creature clung tightly to her clothes, refusing to let go. ’If they weren’t in the Imperial Palace, I would’ve tossed this thing who-knows-where by now.’

After tugging for a good while, Mr. Li still couldn’t pry White Spirit from Ye Qianning’s arms. His expression grew awkward.

"It seems this White Spirit has acknowledged Miss Xiang as its master."

Its fluffy fur tickled Ye Qianning’s nose, making her want to sneeze. She scowled. "Get down."

White Spirit let out a pitiful whimper.

"Either let him carry you, or get down and walk yourself."

White Spirit shot a glance at Mr. Li, then reluctantly hopped down. It stood behind her, tail held high.

Mr. Li saw it all clearly. ’So this little creature can be picky about people, huh...’

"Mr. Li, my neck doesn’t hurt anymore. We don’t need to go to the infirmary," Ye Qianning said, looking up as she brushed the fur off her clothes.

"Miss Xiang, your face... you should still have an Imperial Physician look at it." ’It’s so swollen she hardly looks like a child anymore.’

"It’s fine. My father said it’ll be better in a couple of days."

"Oh, my, Miss Xiang, you can’t listen to General Xiang! A child’s skin is delicate. If treatnt is delayed, it might not heal properly. What will you do if you’re left with a scar?" Mr. Li was quite fond of the Xiang family’s little girl.

"Even if I turn out ugly and can’t get married, I still have the Crown Prince, don’t I?"

Mr. Li was alard to hear this. "Good heavens, my young lady, you can’t say such things casually!"

"Haha, I’m just kidding," Ye Qianning said with a wide grin.

"You must be careful with your words in the Imperial Palace. You’ll understand when you’re a bit older, Miss Xiang," Mr. Li cautioned.

Ye Qianning just shook her head nonchalantly. When they reached a fork in the path, she headed toward West Splendor Palace without a second thought.

Mr. Li couldn’t talk her out of it.

They hadn’t gone far before they spotted a small figure in the distance, walking toward them.

"Miss Xiang, isn’t that the Eighth Prince?" Mr. Li said.

Ye Qianning had been a bit worried about him when she left the palace yesterday, but she was relieved that her master had remained behind. Now, seeing his solemn expression made her curious.

"Brother, where are you off to in such a hurry?"

"Why are you in the Imperial Palace again?" Sang Zhi asked, his face etched with worry.

"The Emperor was going to decide on my father’s resignation at court today. Of course I had to co."

"Father approved it?" Sang Zhi asked in disbelief.

"No. After the morning court session, Father went straight to the Ministry of War to muster troops without even having ti to find ."

"General Xiang is going to the border?"

Sang Zhi knew his father wouldn’t let Xiang Minghou off the hook so easily. Though he rarely heard about court affairs, everyone in Beili knew of Xiang Minghou’s military achievents.
