Chapter 290: Forced Demolition

The morning sun hung clear in the sky, casting a warm golden hue across Qingling University’s nearby streets.

Ye Qiu was hard at work, slapping up rental flyers across the neighborhood—walls, lampposts, and even old telephone poles. His requirents were the sa as always: Single. Beautiful. Female.

After pinning up the hundredth flyer, he clapped the dust from his palms and grinned with satisfaction. Now it was just a matter of ti before pretty tenants ca knocking.

Whistling lightly, Ye Qiu strolled toward the old residential area nearby. But just as he turned a corner, he caught sight of a group of n in uniform work clothes taking asurents around one of the ancient buildings.

“Uncle Li,” he called out to a familiar neighbor, “what’s going on over there?”

“Engineering inspection team,” Uncle Li replied, not looking up from his tea. “They’re checking the structural integrity of these old buildings. If one’s deed hazardous, it’ll be torn down.”

Ye Qiu paused to watch the process. The crew finished checking the current building and soon announced their conclusion.

Safe.

Hearing that, Ye Qiu lost interest and headed ho. The building being inspected was older than his own—if that one passed, then his would surely be fine.

Or so he thought.

That afternoon, the inspection team arrived at Ye Qiu’s building.

He remained utterly unfazed, leisurely munching on a waterlon as the workers bustled about doing their tests. But soon, one of them approached with a clipboard and a grave expression.

Conclusion: Hazardous structure. Failed inspection.

“What kind of bullshit is that?! How can my place be a hazard?” Ye Qiu’s face darkened. He stood up, juice dripping from the half-eaten lon, and stord toward the inspector.

The man, clearly in charge, responded with professional calm. “Mr. Ye, we are a nationally certified structural inspection agency. We take full responsibility for our results. Please vacate the premises as soon as possible and cooperate with the demolition efforts. As for compensation, rest assured, it will be more than sufficient for you to rebuild.”

Ye Qiu was thoroughly depressed. He had just plastered the neighborhood with flyers—and now his house was going to be demolished? How was he supposed to lure in beautiful tenants now?

As soon as class ended, Wang Haoran received the system’s prompt and instantly understood—Tang Bingyun’s arrangents succeeded.

Ye Qiu’s old building was officially condemned.

Wang Haoran casually went out for a al, then returned to the villa for a hot shower. By the ti he was done, dusk had already fallen.

He had just learned from Wang Xiang that Shen Yixing’s film crew would be filming a night scene today. It was the perfect ti to drop by.

But just as he was about to leave, a figure slipped silently into the villa’s courtyard.

“You again?” Wang Haoran appeared soundlessly behind Bu Feiyan, his voice cutting through the quiet like a blade.

She jumped, then turned with a sheepish smile. “Of course I’m here to ask you about cultivation—rember, you promised to teach .”

“I’ve got sothing to do. Why don’t you go ask your second sister? I hear from Weiwei that she’s pretty skilled.”

The mont Luo Qingqian’s na ca up, a trace of worry flickered through Bu Feiyan’s eyes. “She locked herself in her room last night and hasn’t co out since. Almost a full twenty-four hours now. She won’t answer the door, won’t respond to us calling… hasn’t even eaten.”

Wang Haoran was montarily surprised, but then nodded inwardly. It made sense.

He could more or less guess what was going through Luo Qingqian’s mind. On one hand, she was struggling to accept what had happened. On the other hand, she was consud by guilt—toward her seventh sister Qiu Qianwei, and perhaps, toward him.

Locking herself away was her way of sorting things out.

Sure, if he called and offered so gentle comfort, she’d probably recover faster.

But Wang Haoran had already decided how he would treat Luo Qingqian.

He would be the one pursued, not the pursuer.

Especially in this case, he was the victim as she used force. If anyone owed an apology, it was her.

And if she didn’t apologize? Then she could forget about hearing from him ever again.

While he remained silent, Bu Feiyan pressed again, her tone soft, almost pleading. “Is it urgent? If not, could you spare just a little ti to guide ?”

“Fine,” Wang Haoran relented, though his answer was far from enthusiastic. He casually spouted so nonsense about cultivation that even he couldn’t follow.

Bu Feiyan listened with wide eyes, growing more confused by the second. She asked him to explain more clearly.

But Wang Haoran just waved her off. “Figure it out yourself.”

She sighed, resigned, and turned to leave—only for his voice to call her back.

“Wait.”

“What is it?” she spun around, hope rekindled.

“You didn’t tell anyone about my martial skills, right?” he asked, his tone suddenly serious.

“No,” she shook her head quickly.

He gave a small nod. Luo Qingqian still thought he was just an ordinary person. If Bu Feiyan slipped up and said sothing, that illusion would be shattered.

“Good. Make sure it stays that way,” he said again, firr this ti.

“You can count on ,” she promised, nodding solemnly. Then, her eyes lit up. “So… does that an I can co over at night to see you?”

Wang Haoran gave her a strange look.

Realizing what she’d just said, Bu Feiyan blushed and quickly added, “I ant—to ask for more guidance, of course!”

“You can co. But don’t sneak in like a thief next ti. Call first,” he replied.

“No problem!” she grinned.

“By the way,” he asked offhandedly, “are you busy lately?”

Bu Feiyan’s heart skipped. She thought he was about to ask her out and replied eagerly, “Not busy at all!” Her eyes sparkled.

“Great. I need you to tail soone. Keep tabs on his movents and report to daily.”

Her heart deflated just a little. “You want to… spy on soone?”

Wang Haoran nodded. Bu Feiyan was a top-tier assassin, a master of stealth and surveillance. There was no better choice to shadow Ye Qiu—especially now that his old place had been demolished. He was bound to make new moves.

And if Wang Haoran wanted to squeeze every last Villain Point from him, he had to stay one step ahead.

Bu Feiyan pouted, mildly disappointed.

Wang Haoran noticed and quickly added, “Of course, I won’t make you work for free. I’ll treat you to a al—or take you out sowhere fun.”

Even a good horse needed hay. Money wasn’t the issue. Bu Feiyan didn’t care for cash—her missions only ever charged a symbolic one yuan.

Wang Haoran knew exactly what she truly wanted. He just didn’t say it aloud.

Dangling the bait, he smiled.

“I want three als,” she bargained, eyes gleaming, “and three outings.”

“Deal,” he said without hesitation.

“It’s settled then!” she bead.

With that, Wang Haoran handed over Ye Qiu’s information.

“I’ll head over to his place right away.” With a flick of her lithe figure, Bu Feiyan vanished into the night.

Wang Haoran went to the villa garage, fired up his flashy McLaren P1, and made his way toward Shen Yixing’s film set.
