After ending the call, Lu Yan followed Wang Haoran away from the Art Academy as they headed toward Qingling University.
On the way, Wang Haoran ssaged Yu Shiqing, instructing her to wait near the affiliated hospital. When they arrived at the hospital gates, he spotted her already waiting and took a mont to quietly brief her before sending her along with Lu Yan to et Lu Chen.
He himself stayed outside, choosing not to show up just yet.
Lu Yan led Yu Shiqing into the hospital room where her grandfather was still resting, sound asleep. The two girls walked softly, and Lu Yan lowered her voice to call out, “Brother.”
“You’re here,” Lu Chen greeted her with a gentle smile, the kind only an older brother could show. Then, his eyes naturally drifted toward the unfamiliar girl beside her. “And this is…”
“My friend,” Lu Yan replied quickly, rembering Wang Haoran’s instructions.
Lu Chen nodded and gave Yu Shiqing a brief glance. Through the strands of hair across her forehead, he noticed the blotchy birthmark that marred her face.
His brows creased slightly, and he looked away almost reflexively.
He didn’t give it a second thought. Right now, his heart was as calm as still water. Whether the girl before him was disfigured or a rare beauty made no difference. He simply wasn’t moved.
Yu Shiqing caught the subtle shift in his expression and felt a trace of discomfort, but she kept it buried beneath a quiet composure.
“How’s Grandpa doing?” Lu Yan asked, glancing at the sleeping elder.
“No need to worry. I treated him myself. A few more days of rest and he’ll be ready to go ho.” Lu Chen spoke with confidence, the smile on his lips showing his pride.
Lu Yan recalled sothing Wang Haoran had said earlier and tilted her head curiously. “You’ve only been in d school for two years and you’re already treating patients?”
“Of course. Your brother was born to be a Divine Doctor,” Lu Chen said with a laugh, brushing off the details he didn’t want to explain.
Hearing that, Lu Yan gave Yu Shiqing’s hand a little tug and quickly followed up. “Since you’re so amazing, can you help my friend here with the birthmark on her face?”
“Of course I can,” Lu Chen replied imdiately, then added with a hint of mischief, “As long as the price is right, I guarantee I can get rid of every trace of it.”
“Brother, this is my friend. How can you even think of charging her?” Lu Yan frowned. “That’s not okay.”
“Hey, treating people and getting paid for it—that’s just how the world works,” Lu Chen said matter-of-factly.
“You’re hopeless, always thinking about money.” Lu Yan huffed and pulled Yu Shiqing toward the door. “Forget it, we’re leaving.”
“Okay, okay, I was joking,” Lu Chen called out quickly when he saw she was really about to go.
Lu Yan turned and smiled, her mood brightening again. “That’s more like it.”
Lu Chen took another look at Yu Shiqing’s face, this ti more seriously. After a mont’s thought, he grabbed a pen and notepad, then scribbled down two prescriptions and handed them over. “Buy the herbs yourself. One’s for external application—grind them into a paste.”
“The other is to brew into a decoction and drink. Three tis a day, morning, noon, and night. In three days, the mark will be completely gone.”
Yu Shiqing stared at the prescriptions, uncertain whether to believe him. Still, she took them with both hands and offered a quiet thank you without challenging his claim.
“I’ll go get the herbs,” she said a mont later, rembering Wang Haoran’s plan. “I’ll leave you two to catch up.”
“Okay, go ahead,” Lu Yan nodded.
Yu Shiqing made her way back to the hospital entrance, where she saw Wang Haoran waiting by the car.
“How’d it go?” he asked the mont she approached.
“He gave these two prescriptions,” she said, handing them over. “One for external use, one to drink. Three tis a day. Said I’ll be completely cured in three days.” Her tone betrayed her doubt.
Wang Haoran glanced through the ingredients. Nothing rare, nothing difficult to find. Any decently stocked traditional dicine shop would carry them.
“Get in. We’ll pick them up now,” he said.
Yu Shiqing nodded and slid into the passenger seat.
They stopped at a nearby herbal dicine shop, where Wang Haoran handed the prescription to a clerk and asked for a three-day supply. The herbs were prepared quickly, bundled neatly. The total ca out to around two thousand yuan.
Wang Haoran paid without a word and drove Yu Shiqing ho.
“I didn’t bring any money. I’ll pay you back when I get ho,” she offered.
“No rush. Just focus on healing. You can pay later,” he replied.
“Do you really think it’ll work?” she asked, glancing sideways at him.
“It will. Maybe you don’t trust him, but you trust , right?”
He had full faith in Lu Chen’s skill. After all, the request ca from Lu Yan. There was no reason for Lu Chen to lie.
“Okay. I’ll follow the instructions exactly.” She nodded solemnly.
After dropping her off, Wang Haoran circled back to the hospital.
He parked the car and headed toward the sa hospital room he’d visited once before with Ji Shuyao.
He still rembered the way.
When he arrived, Lu Chen was just peeling an apple for his sister. The sight of Wang Haoran walking in made his face stiffen before it twisted with anger.
“What the hell are you doing here? This place doesn’t welco you. Get out.”
“I’m here to see my girlfriend,” Wang Haoran said with a smirk.
“Girlfriend? What nonsense—” Lu Chen’s words caught as his eyes darted to Lu Yan.
Sothing twisted in his gut. A cold, creeping premonition.
And then, just like a knife to the heart, it happened.
Lu Yan bead with joy and threw herself into Wang Haoran’s arms, her expression radiant with bliss.
Lu Chen stood frozen in place like a statue.
【Ding! Host has damaged protagonist Lu Chen’s ntal state. Gained 900 Villain Points. Lu Chen’s Protagonist Aura -45. Host’s Villain Aura 45.】
“Lu Yan, what the hell is going on?!” Lu Chen barked, tossing aside the half-peeled apple and knife.
“Brother, calm down. I know there’s been a misunderstanding between you and Haoran, but we’re together now. For my sake, can you please let it go? Let’s all get along, okay?” she said sweetly, hoping to defuse the situation.
“I warned you! I told you to stay away from him! You promised—swore you wouldn’t!” Lu Chen clutched his chest, face flushing with anger.
“Love isn’t sothing I can control. I like him, he likes . That’s all there is to it.”
“He already has a girlfriend!” Lu Chen gritted out.
“I know,” Lu Yan said calmly, without missing a beat.
That stunned Lu Chen into silence. He stared at her, fury frozen into disbelief on his face.
